Winter home. (Dar and Nornir)

INSIDE:  

As they ordered, Annie hoped that Jemmy would like the food they ordered.  Steak with sauce sounded pretty good to Annie, and she guessed she didn't mind too much how it was prepared.  But then Marleigh thought about appetizers and mentioned soup.  Annie blinked.  "Soup?  Um...I don't know.  I didn't know I was getting soup...."  She looked down at the menu to look over the soups, but her thoughts started to wander; from soup to the situation outside.  So far she had tried to ignore it, but at this point it was getting to her.  

She could feel it, Guru's mental state starting to get hazy and fade as he slowly suffocated, like most people did when they were dying.  It was not something pleasant to witness, and Annie found the sensation very disturbing and impossible to ignore.  It soon got to a point where she couldn't stand it and put her arms around herself.  She shut her eyes tight and looked down, whispering a few words.  "Kasha, mec'tsa pan..."  ("I don't like this feeling...  I don't like what's going on out there...  Please just fix it and come back to me.  I don't want you out there anymore.  I want you here to be able to comfort me.")  She stayed with her arms close around herself, head down, and eyes closed; and before too long Kasha (in kitten form) appeared by poking his head out of Annie's overall pocket.  As soon as he did she opened her eyes and picked him up, kissing his head before hugging him tightly.  


OUTSIDE:

At this point, Kasha had become a spectator.  He had done his part, now he would just watch to see what Jemmy did next.  Or at least he started to watch, but the sensation he and Annie were getting from feeling Guru suffocate was...unsettling.  The feeling could be compared to watching a puppy drown.  Guru was helpless and just lay there dying, and it was hard to just sit there and do nothing but witness it.  And for Kasha, it became impossible after hearing Annie's request via the telepathic link.  Obediently, he got up and made his way over to the man before giving his frozen face a good hard smack.  It broke the ice over it, and probably the man's nose too, but at least he would live.  He then poofed, teleporting back to Annie to make sure she was okay.  

The Dog, though not in the best of shape, wasn't about to take orders from some snot nosed little brat with a big mouth.  "Boss, I would just listen to her."  Quill pleaded.  "It's not that much to ask, and afterward we can just be on our way...right miss?"  Quill hoped that was the case anyway.  But The Dog wasn't gunna have it.  He paused to spit a bit of blood to the side and stood as he looked at Jemmy.  "You want me to kiss your feet?"  He suddenly grabbed at her hair.  "No, you kiss mine!"  At the same time he spoke that last word, The Dog would send his foot straight at her face with the intention of breaking it and sending her head flying like a football as far as he could punt it.

"Ms. Annie...?"

One moment the girl was looking at the menus and the next thing Marleigh knew, the expression on her face had changed. Her eyes were shut tight and she wrapped her arms around herself. The maid stood up, went to her side and put her hand on Annie's shoulder. There was a look of concern on her face. But before she could say anything more, Kasha had returned, somehow reappearing in the the little girl's pocket. At once, Annie kissed him and hugged him.

Marleigh was not really sure what happened but she was relieved to see that the tiny kitten seemed to have calmed the girl down. But if Kasha was back, then what was happening outside? As much as the maid was happy for Annie, that meant Jemmy was now alone out there. Was it all over now? She wondered if she should be expecting the princess to show up any second.

Well now he had done it. The Dog had refused to listen to reason and had kicked Jemmy in the face. Jemmy's body went flying over the building across the street, leaving behind a trail of blood. Any normal person would have been killed several times over from taking such damage.

But just a few seconds later, Jemmy materialized in front of The Dog. She was not injured, but she was also not happy. Pointing a finger at The Dog and issued a command to Quill, who should still be loyal to her, motivated by love. "Break his legs, then break his arms."

Quill complied with the orders, and The Dog cried out as his bones snapped. Jemmy then shot The Dog with a Cupid Arrow, stuck her foot in his face, and commanded him to kiss it. His body and will both under her control, The Dog obeyed.

"Good," Jemmy said, taking a step back. She looked at Quill. "Now break his neck." She walked inside the building, taking a moment to magically remove any blood stains on her body and outfit. The Dog's neck snapped as she opened the front door to the restaurant. Five seconds later, the Cupid Arrow's effect on Quill would run out. Shocked by what he had done, and knowing that nothing could be gained by chasing Jemmy down, he ran over to Guru to see if the man was still alive. He was, but he needed a doctor soon. The Dog was dead, but maybe Quill could at least save Guru's life before this was all over.

Jemmy walked back to the table where Annie and Marleigh sat. She had a big, innocent-looking smile on her face. Appearances were important, and she didn't want to make either of them feel uncomfortable.

It seemed that Annie was already crying though. She had telepathically heard the thoughts of everyone as they had been fighting. Jemmy had forgotten about that. What was Jemmy supposed to do now? An apology really didn't seem like it would be enough. Besides, she wasn't sorry. Not in the least. She had told Annie to close her eyes. Why hadn't she closed her mind as well?

"So I think I'll try the spaghetti and meatballs. Sorry for the delay. It had to be done, though."

Annie felt a little better now that Kasha was out of the fight and into her arms, and better still that Marleigh showed concern for her. But it didn't last very long, because before too long The Dog's mind lit up like a bonfire under the pain and stress of having both arms AND legs broken. That was about as bad, if not a little worse, than what she had felt from Guru; and the moment it happened she clutched Kasha and shut her eyes that much tighter. Because the truth was, Annie couldn't turn her telepathic powers off; not completely anyway. She was stuck with feeling whatever happened to the people around her. She had grown up with this and was used to constantly feeling the thoughts of the people around her, in fact she regularly depended on it; but at times like this she wished it had an off switch.

Fortunately, there was some relief. Kasha, now nearby and no longer having to focus on the battle, was able to help try to block Annie's perception of what was happening. It wasn't perfect but it helped, and was definitely a good thing he returned to her. Annie set her forehead on the table and held Kasha close during everything that was happening outside. When Jemmy came back, Annie was indeed at the threshold of crying/sobbing, but now that it was over she would probably be okay... Still, she would just sit there for a while to calm down and stabilize.

Kasha had warned Jemmy from the beginning that this would probably happen if she fought, and held her pretty much responsible for how this had effected Annie. Yet at the same time he wasn't upset with her. Jemmy simply had done what she needed to do, and Kasha respected that in anyone. Annie would be alright with time.

For now though, her emotions where messy. Annie looked up at Jemmy, seeing the smile she wore to try to appeal to her and Marleigh. Annie appreciated the effort, but this was one of those times where sincerity was really more appreciated. She looked at the menu, but at this point her mind was well gone from soup. She didn't care at this point what she got for soup, or if she got soup at all. She was ready just to eat, go home, and sleep this whole thing off. Yeah...sleep sounded pretty good to her right now. A good night's sleep on a soft bed would probably make her feel a lot better. Having already ordered, Annie saw no reason to speak and just kept to her thoughts as she stared at the menu in front of her.

"Welcome back Princess"

Marleigh greeted Jemmy upon her return. The maid managed a smile but her mind was still on Annie's state. She was not aware at all of the abilities they had and so she was mostly at a loss on what was happening. At the same time, she was unsure of how she could ask about it without being insensitive. Mortal dilemmas were a lot more complicated than she thought. Being around gods must have dulled her intuition for these sorts of things.

In the end, she decided that the best course of action was to do what they came here to do in the first place. She called for the waiter and placed their order: everything they had decided on so far plus a few selections Marleigh believed complemented the dishes well. She left the choice of dessert up to Jemmy whom she hoped would know what would cheer Annie up. It was really unfortunate how this evening turned out. It would be a lie to say she did not feel she lost a little confidence in herself. It would be the first time that happened in decades.

The atmosphere while they were waiting had gotten awkward.
