"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

Fitzjames Holmes

Fitzjames Holmes Shu-ouma-foto

===IDENTITY===

Full Name: Fitzjames Holmes
Nickname(s): Fitz
Codename: None yet, but he’ll be pushing for “Grid”
Alias(es): None yet
Age: 16
Classification: Metahuman
Affiliation: Neutral Evil/No Team (Yet?)

===PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION===

Hair Color: Light Brown
Eye Color: Light Brown
Height: 5’ 8”
Weight: 140 lbs
Other Traits: He can wiggle his ears..

===POWERS===

Powers:
Computer-like Mind: Fitz possesses great intellectual capabilities, allowing him to store nearly unlimited amounts of information at a speed which probably won’t be available to the human race for generations to come. He can also perform several mental functions at once without suffering from the complex processing capabilities a human brain normally would. The final benefit from this power is that Fitz interprets the world on a grid-like scale, so his interpretation of the world may be a bit more realistic than others’.

"Astral" Projection: Fitz is capable of projecting his psyche beyond his body in the physical plane, effectively having an out-of-body experience at will. He may use this is multiple different ways, each varying in degree of consciousness required to use properly. Fitz can project a small portion of his consciousness to mentally "look" at the area around him up to a 3-mile radius (Byakugan, for lack of a reference), with each mile requiring more concentration on his end to the point where moving his body becomes increasingly difficult. Using the highest degree of his "astral" projection allows him to create a corporeal form of himself anywhere in his 3-mile range. Those who have any telepathic skill can recognize that this is a projection of his mind, and damaging the corporeal form causes it to dissipate  Finally, as the most lethal form of projection, Fitz can create what he calls "psycho flares," bolts of psychic energy which can be fired from his astral form or human form. His psycho flares are visible and tangible, capable of harming both organic and inorganic objects, though living targets hit by psycho flares suffer from mental trauma rather than physical, gaining migraines or becoming briefly disoriented.

Skills: Fitz is adept at using his telepathy to pick up skills and experiences between individuals, allowing him access to the repertoire of those around him. As well, he has a decent ear for languages, and writes poetry in his spare time.

Weaknesses: When Fitz's astral projection is in use, he is able to use his physical body less, leaving him vulnerable. As well, if his astral form is damaged, he is briefly stunned. Destroying his astral form, then, can leave him temporarily incapacitated. His body is still equivalent to that of an average human’s, so physical skills he may pick up still aren't as great as they may have been in the hands of their actual owners.

Equipment: N/A

===PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE===

Personality: Fitz is pretty normal for the most part. Though he does see things differently than most, it doesn’t stop him from being a caring person. He does sometimes come across as too honest or literal, but who doesn’t have flaws? He’s the type of guy who understands that rules exist for a reason, but if order needs to be maintained, he’s willing to break rules to make it happen.

Strengths: Fitz is usually level-headed in most situations, and he acts as a great mediator.

Interests/Habits: Fitz enjoys art, whether it’s song, dance, or writing.

===PERSONAL BACKGROUND===

Family Members: Ellis Holmes (Mother), Richard Holmes (Father), Tessa Nightingale (Grandmother)
Place of Origin: Jump City
Current City: Jump City
History: Fitz was born with his psychic abilities, and though he doesn’t understand much about them, it’s been made clear that there is a familial tie somewhere within. While his parents do not possess psychic abilities (nor are they aware of his’), Fitz’s grandmother, Tessa, seems to be all-too-familiar with his set of superhuman skills. When he was five years old, he had his first telepathic session with her—she unable to speak verbally, and he still perfecting his language skills, Tessa shared with Fitz the experience she has in language, gifting him with a decent understanding of the complexities of English language before he was even capable of performing them. Since then, he often shares his newly-acquired information with Tessa in exchange for more knowledge from her as well. The two can be fairly inseparable.

Fitz’s life in Jump City has been abnormally normal, though his astral projection is mostly to thank for that. When situations look as though they could possibly be tense, a flash of psionic skill quickly nullifies any nearby danger. Tessa, too, has experienced little of harm outside of their small two-story house within the criminal hotbed, though this hasn't yet awarded any odd attention from their other family members. Still, Jump City is the least of their worries—at least, according to Tessa.

Fitz knows she’s been preparing him for something—he just can’t figure out what exactly that something is. Whether she knows that he’s on to her or not doesn't really matter, as her psychic skill is light-years beyond his own. It goes without saying, though, that Fitz has room to grow, and he is more than willing to pick up everything he possibly can from his grandmother before.. before.. well, whatever she thinks is gonna happen.

Sample RP (Redone for Power change..)

"When do you intend to come home this time?"

"I don't know?"

"Where will you be going?"

"I don't know."

"You'd be worrying your parents if I didn't cover for you every time, you know."

"..I know. I'm thankful."

"Don't thank me. It's my job to spoil you."

"..Right. Take care, Tessa."

Her consciousness slipped away from his' as Fitz made his way down the street. He was away from home again, roaming the city for answers to the questions he hadn't even conjured yet. She held so much information in her mind, and nothing was going to be handed over easily, despite how convenient that would be. Or practical. But that would make too much sense, right? It always seemed to elude him how to properly go about things.

His eyes shifted as he saw a mother with her child. Tender, loving, and with unbridled adoration. She stroked the face of the infant, standing in the kitchen, on the other side of the apartment she was sharing with the man who sat in the living room, watching sports. Behind the brick walls, across the street, Fitz watched, his mind wandering as he searched for that answer.

For that purpose.

The way it is now, Grid-Like Telepathy is not approved. Too many issues like the psionic blast, which really can't be avoided with telepathy, and making illusions and stuff...it needs to be more limited.

Then there's the telekinesis. You say it can nearly lift a car, which could make for some pretty devastating force. Can you lift people and just crush them like a tin can?

I should have outlined it better in the weaknesses area, but his power's weakness is distance. The example I gave is misleading, so I'll further outline the extent of his telepathy here:

Grid-Like Telepathy: Fitz possesses telepathy, which allows him to read minds, share thoughts between individuals (psi links), create false thoughts (illusions), and overload minds with thoughts (mind blasts). His telepathic range is technically limitless, as it can affect anything within the grid of his perception, though the farther or more area his telepathy must “take up,” the weaker it is. While he can force himself to work harder to reach farther with his abilities, doing so has a great strain upon his mind. His current ranges are as follows:

    Reading Minds/Psi Links: He can comfortably read minds (without straining himself and without interference) at a distance of a quarter mile (a couple blocks).
    Illusions: He can comfortably create realistic illusions which fool people (without straining himself and without interference) at a distance of 50 yards (half of a football field).
    Mind Blasts: He can comfortably unleash a mind blast (without straining himself and without interference) at a distance of 1 yard (someone standing adjacent to him).

More or less, yes, but the weakness of distance affects his telekinesis as well. It works, at the moment, as super strength would. If someone was grappling with him, his telekinesis could definitely come into play; otherwise, it can't do much other than allow him flight and pseudo-super strength. I should have overlooked this entire application much more thoroughly:

Grid-Like Telekinesis: Fitz has skill in telekinesis enough that he could lift a car off of its front two wheels; however, because it’s so under-developed, the full strength of his telekinesis extends only a few inches from his body, meaning that he has a great deal of trouble lifting anything heavier than a dime if it’s across a small room.

In short, if you get within 50 yards, his illusions are going to be a hindrance. Probably nothing seriously mind-blowing, like a dragon or something, but he may not actually be where he appears, or may appear to be someone else entirely. If you come into melee with him and grapple him, his psionic blasts would be as autohit as someone who could breathe fire, shoot spikes from their bodies, or the like, and, contrary to the RP sample I posted, his mind blasts won't be automatic knock outs (it was a fodder NPC, and I wanted to show his psychic abilities off =3 ). Updating the original post as well.

I apologize for the delayed response. Computer access isn't always readily available.

Okay, so...I'll just do this in order.

The first issue that comes to mind is that, on a technical viewpoint, you have four powers, whereas the reboot is allowing two major powers and one minor.

Reading Minds/Psi-Links: We aren't really too big a fan of mind-reading, which I'm sure as member of a few forums, you'd understand. I'd compromise by saying you can use it as long as you can't predict actions with it, but then what's the use of it?

Mind Blasts: The main factor of why we aren't too chipper on this is that it looks like something that can't be avoided, or as you know it, an autohit. If this can actually be avoided or prevented, then please elaborate on how.

So to summarize, address my issues on those two powers, and you need to take one power out.
