| "Feeling Lucky?"Full Character Name===IDENTITY=== Full Name: Johnathan Luc Aimery Nickname(s): Johnny Luck, Mister Unlucky, Snake Eyes Codename: Gambler Alias(es): Chance Age: Appears to be in his mid thirties Classification: Supernatural Being Affiliation: Neutral ===PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION=== Hair Color: Ash-brown Eye Color: Yellow Height: 6'03" Weight: 195LB Other Traits: He's pale, and the whites of his eyes are pitch black. ===POWERS=== Powers:
- Twist of Fortune: John's main power is the power to absorb 'Luck Energy' from objects or other people. Doing so, John increases his own 'luck' and makes victims 'unlucky' by comparison. Being lucky allows John to gain an advantage that increases dramatically per the amount of Luck Energy he manages to absorb. Simply put, when John is lucky, he is more likely to suceed at whatever it is he is currently trying to do whether it be in or out of combat. Victims however, have the complete opposite effect and will fail at whatever it is they're doing more often. This bad luck can be anything; their powers could for some reason not be working correctly, they could suddenly be clumsy, or their attacks for some reason hit everything BUT John. Only at very high levels of 'bad luck' will victims have to worry about being physically injured by some accident.
It should be mentioned that John only gains a substantial amount of Luck Energy from 'personal' objects. Everything around him has Luck Energy, but generally everyday objects like street lamps, windows, factory fresh guns and the like have very little Luck Energy. Only personal items that spend alot of time with their owner or are believed to be 'Lucky' offer him any good amount of Luck Energy. That lucky T-shirt of yours? Just a battery waiting to be used. That new sports car? Also a battery. This also includes custom made weapons where the owner has invested some of their time and energy into the object.
John also MUST be physically touching the object/person or have something be connecting them together like a rope or something. But all it takes is a touch for someone to lose some luck, making melee combat rather... unlucky for John's attacker. He has been known to use 'cursed' objects to passively drain luck, most notably at the scene of a crime where the item is sure to be picked up for evidence. Any luck energy he absorbs will gradually dissipate after awhile.
- Hellfire: The power to conjure up and control fires from hell, which are inextinguishable by normal means. The flames created can smother normal fire and even water. The flames John generates is far more intense then normal flames, capable of incinerating any mundane or man made object to the point they leave no byproduct (including ash). Naturally, John appears to be unharmed by his own fire while using it. The flames he creates have a similar shade to normal flames, but are visibly unnusual. Alternatively, John's flames can simply cause extreme amounts of pain instead of incineration. However, John currently cannot generate full on blasts or beams. He instead can 'imbue' an object with hellfire, which in the case of his cards, allows him to throw projectiles that burn through all mundane, man made objects. Or make them explode.
John also seems to use his hellfire for certain spells or conjuring up small handheld objects. Most notably he summons his playing cards with hellfire.
- Undead: John was among one of the dead that was reanimated. While he isn't a mindless zombie, he is STILL an animated corpse that is now walking. Fortunately whatever brought him back also restored his good looks! Being undead, John is immune to most things that would normally kill a living person. He can be impaled, shot repeatedly, and lose a limb or two but he'll still be kicking. It's also possible that his body can still function even without the head, but this has yet to be proven. Being undead also makes John immune to disease, poison, pain, and other mortal worries like eating or breathing. He is for the most part, immortal outside of being destroyed utterly. He is also endowed with much more strength then a human thanks to his body's immunity to pain, able to push his muscles passed their mortal limits. As it stands, he can with effort pick up a car.
Spells
- Teleportation: A very versatile spell that enables John to magically move from one place to the other. Visually this creates a flash of hellfire where John vanishes or reappears, or a circle of cards will fan out along the ground where he will emerge. In both cases, it takes John a couple of seconds before the spell kicks in, making timing crucial if used during combat. But it also allows him to get the hell out of dodge if he needs to.
- Telekinesis: Not a natural power or ability like some metas, but he still has the ability to move small objects with his mind. Coupled with his cards, he can hurl small objects at high speeds.
- Curse: Dark magic that places a luck draining curse on an object he touches. If the object is taken by someone and generally if it spends time with someone other then John, it will passively absorb luck from it's surroundings like a sponge while the cuse remains active. The duration of the curse can last any where from a hour, or a week depending on how much energy he puts into it.
Skills:
- Textile Sense: A skill he picked up from his years of gambling or perhaps was already born with. John's hands are much more sensetive to touch, actually able to detect the differences between each card of a deck of cards. Naturally, it is a very foolish idea to let him shuffle cards if you're gambling against him.
- Trained combatant: While not a master of hand to hand combat, John knows enough to hold his own against opponents with less training then him. But obviously professionals like Nightwing or Slade would have no problem beating him on skill alone.
Weaknesses:
- Silver: Being an undead, John's body is more vulnerable to silver. The more pure or refined it is, the more vulnerable to it he is. In addition, silver bindings will jam his hellfire power and sap his strength.
- Bad Luck: John's luck absorption can easily be countered by 'Jinx' magic or anything which causes bad luck. John can only resist bad luck by having more 'good luck' then bad luck but in all cases, Bad Luck puts a dent in his luck. It is also for this reason John tries to avoid breaking mirrors, walking under ladders, or breaking tombstones.
- Holy Magic/Blessed items: Another side effect of being undead, a weakness to magic of divine origin and an allergy to blessed or holy items and weapons.
- Gambling: One of his 'addictions' is gambling, something which normally could easily be used against him to buy time or force him into agreeing to something he would normally not agree to. However, one should aware that he has all kinds of tricks up his sleeve. So feeling lucky?
Equipment:
- Playing Cards: John's primary weapon is a deck of playing cards which on their own can still cut if used properly. They only become really dangerous when they are imbued with hellfire, which allows them to burn through mundane, man made objects. They can also be made to create explosions.
- Dice: Same as above.
===PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE=== Personality: Since being reanimated, John appears to have either lost his soul, or has had it corrupted by the same force that brought him back from the dead. He still acts as a gentleman, often using sir or madam when addressing others and rarely does he ever lose his cool. It's still possible for him to lose his cool, but it's very difficult to do normally. When interacting with other people, John is charismatic and a smooth talker, which usually hides something more sinister at hand. Since he never got to fully experience fame, fortune or power when he was alive, John will take what he wants since being reanimated. He has little to no consideration towards others, completely lacking in empathy since reanimation. John also views himself as an 'honorable cheat' which basically means he WILL do whatever it takes to get an edge over someone else by any means. But if he's caught then he will admit to it and even congradulate his clever opponent and is a man of his word to certain degrees. John's only mortal vice is that he still enjoys gambling, one of the few pleasures he still has with being a corpse. He is also quite superstitious. Strengths: Smart, level headed, charismatic, manipulative Interests/Habits:LikesGambling Fighting Stealing Being Lucky DislikesNot being able to taste Not being able to feel Losing Bad Luck ===PERSONAL BACKGROUND=== Family Members: All dead Place of Origin: Steel City Current City: Jump City History: Little record still exists of Johnathan, most of it being lost in a suspicious fire. He was born and raised in the slums of Steel City, his father was a foreman for one of the local factories aswell as a head of a worker's union. John's family lived on pay check to pay check and didn't have alot of luxaries. He lost his father during a worker's strike demanding better working conditions and better saleries for their families. There are rumors about foul play but nothing was ever concrete enough to pin it on anyone. John became incredibly ambitious in his youth, scrapin the barrel to make a living with plenty of gambling on the side to try and get ahead. He won some, but mostly he lost plenty and he was tired of it. He was determined to change his luck around and that was when he ventured to the occult. There are plenty of fools who say they'd sell their soul, but there are desperate men who actually do it. John was one such person, and was granted a powerful ability to drain luck from other people. He was given a deadline where the demon he dealt with would come for his soul, giving John plenty of time to redeem his family's name AND find out who killed his father. He did just that, using his new found luck to make a name for himself in the underworld as both a gambler and a 'professional' hitman. In reality he was just incredibly lucky. Years passed as he worked his way up the ladder, earning the confidence of his superiors as he singlemindedly saught answers. John eventually found them, however he needed evidence linking them to the crime so long ago. His demon contact came to him with an alternative. While honorable to try and bring these men to justice, it would take more time then he had left to do so. The demon instead suggested getting them together and playing a 'normal' game of poker. John considered it for a day and agreed to it. He organized a casual get together over a game of cards. For this to work, John had to keep from taking any luck. He needed to lull them into a false sense of security and make them more inclined to play. So like in the past, he won a couple hands, he lost more hands. John made it seem like he was having an off night, and intentionally lost more cash then he had on hand. Instead of just being counted out, he suggested an interesting twist. Just for kicks, he bet his soul but asked for the others to agree to it. They were, skeptical to say the least but he eventually talked them into it and shook their hands in agreement. The tables turned immediatly after that. When he shook the hands of his 'friends' he stole a chunk of luck from each of them. With luck on his side, there was no way he could lose! Since they agreed to his terms, when he won the demon he had been dealing with came to collect their souls. Satisfied with his revenge, John focused more time to enjoying the good life. But, news of the 'mysterious' deaths of these men spread as did word of who he really was. John had to leave town, not only to elude his potential killers, but also to try and elude the demon. As his time was beginning to run out. But no matter where he ran, he could not avoid the inevitable. The demon clearly did more then just come for his soul, he organized an entire hit on Johnathan. He left everything to the community (his mother had died by this point in time) and for a time, his soul was at the mercy of the demon who he bartered with. But then, that wasn't to last either. No. Instead he was brought back by some kind of dark force that reanimated many bodies. John doesn't know how or why he came back, but he's keen to make use of it and has found a new... hellish power at his disposal. Looks like fortune smiled on him... Sample RP: -See Inferno-

| Amazing character. I just have a few questions that need to be answered.
Exploding Cards- How big is the explosion.
Cards that will burn through anything- While still dodge-able, this would technically be an unblockable attack. Since Johnny's Hellfire can burn fire itself, this is an extremely powerful attack. This should be weakened. Otherwise, he would be able to one-shot everyone else on the site.
Silver/Holy Power- You said he is vulnerable to these two things. Do they weaken him just by being around him? Do they deal more damage than a normal weapon? If so, what does it matter if he is essentially immortal? Perhaps they have the power to hurt and possibly kill him for real? Let us know what the effects of his weaknesses are.
Like I said, I really like this character, so be sure to let me know when you've made these edits. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

| Beach ball size for cards, basket ball for dice sounds right to me.
Only unblockable if you're insane enough to try and swat the card or dice out of the air with your bare hands, or try to hide behind a car. Mundane in this case means normal, non-magical item. Energy also works. So you would be correct that it is unblockable if you try to block it with an everyday item, however they are still dodgeable. They are technically slower then an arrow, which still realistically give people time to dodge them.
I'd also like to mention that I could have tried using Slade's hellfire powers from TT animated during the Trigon saga, but even I thought that was too powerful at the start. It also depends if he wants the fire to incinerate or just hurt alot. And since he's going to be a sadistic little jerk, chances are he'll use the pain inducing version.
So I agree it is powerful, but I did infact weaken it by limiting JL to only imbuing objects with hellfire.
As for weaknesses, I was kinda reaching for something that realistically could be used against him, so I made him undead. And I saw the little board-wide plot being perfect reasoning for this. Touching silver does weaken his hellfire. So shooting him with some silver bullets will greatly effect him. Plus a silver dagger which is small, could do more damage physically to him then normal.
