Silence isn't golden (neosky2k and Bane)

Wolf had grown hungrier than normal, the usual animals weren't cutting it so he needed somewhere with a little bit bigger prey in a better quantity. Wolf had slipped into the prison, there had been an incident in one of the cells for maximum security. The cell had been torn open and the prisoner inside had been eaten completely. Normally the prisoner was loud and abusive so the guards noticed quickly when the sounds stopped shortly after the normal banging on the metal.

The incident was kept quiet they just buried him like nothing happened. The incidents didn't stop though, there were more attacks each the same all over the prison. They began looking for discreet hero's to help.

It wasn't terribly glamorous, and he couldn't really use it in his game, but work was work. Vincent had managed to strike up a deal with the police to help with what they had referred to as a 'minor problem that may or may not require specialized skills'. From what he could gather of the story, an inmate, a man with no known super-powers, had gone missing, and his whereabouts were unknown. His cell door had been destroyed, but there hadn't been any other damage to the rest of the prison. What was more suspicious is that they seemed reluctant to let him see exactly where everything had happened...

"The start of another lovely day..."

Bane looked at her board in her kitchen and noticed a note from someone. She didn’t remember taking that particular call or talking to someone about it. The note was simple, Prison Problems. Highly Entertaining Where had it come from, she wondered. Well whoever posted it must have had a good reason to do so. So the prison was having issues go figure. Bane was frequently called out to the prison to check on sick inmates, or inmates with odd ailments that a traditional doctor wouldn’t know about. Most likely it was an odd case of the flu or something incredibly boring like that. Bane grabbed her bag of stuff and headed to work.

When she got there, the Police where being vague and non-communicative like normal. They had this thing about her being a witch or something lame like that. Being called a witch was an insult in so many ways, if they only knew. Bane asked to see the inmate that was having all the problems. The Police Chief twitched and fidgeted around, not answering her question. Realizing she was going to get nothing out of him, she headed towards a group of fellows talking and started to eavesdrop. “Gone… Eaten… Reoccurring… Secret…” The group of men all stopped the second they saw her and started blushing and changing the subject. Bah, these were idiots Bane decided, she was going to have to look else where for her information. Looking around she spotted a lovely looking fellow with Russet hair and a pair of ancient looking motor goggles. He didn’t really fit in with the crowd of idiots and Bane knew right of the bat he was a Meta. Good. She liked Metas, they were so much more helpful normally, also very unproductive and in the way a lot, than humans were. That’s where she’d learn her information, from goggles.

Bane walked up to Vincent and tapped his shoulder.“Are you an idiot? Because if not I need some help with this thing, but am looking for intelligent people not idiots. If you are an idiot, well keep trying and you’ll eventually get that job at Wal-Mart greeting people all day like all the rest of the old men who work there.”

The question was simple enough and, while he was a slacker, Vincent hadn't considered himself stupid bu any means. "Intelligent enough to be adaptable. I'm no Blue Beetle, but I like to think I'm intelligent to figure most things out on my own." In this case, Blue Beetle had been referring to Ted Kord, the Blue Beetle from Vincent's hometown of Chicago, who was known for being brilliant, and an intellectual contemporary to the better-known Batman.

Vincent took a moment to size up this new... individual... Who had been brought in. he had known they were looking for more than one person for the lob, but... Well, to be frank, this wasn't the first impression he'd had in mind. "I suppose there's no point in my own asking," he said, eyeing Bane from behind the dark lenses of his goggles, "since you seem to have a pretty high overall opinion in yourself. Or a really low opinion, I suppose." His first thoughts on her did not seem promising. Her choice in colors clashed with his sober brown uniform, and a person's clothing could say a lot about them.

"Anyway," he started off, "I suppose introductions are in order if we're going to work together." The amature hero extended a hand in a friendly gesture, a small smirk on his face as he looked down at the shorter woman.

Wolf was wandering the prison following his next target, he was one of the heads of the prison just below the warden and one of the police. Wolf was in the darkness above the lights feeling his presence through the minor electrical signals his body created. Wolf saw he'd entered a room by himself and heard the door close. The hall outside was empty, Wolf slammed his tail through the vent and punctured the man's neck before jumping down and starting to eat.

The man he'd killed was the one who had been asking for hero's to investigate. It was pure coincidence though. Wolf finished quickly the body stripped to bones and leapt back into the vent running back into the prison proper silently.

Was he looking down on her? She was what, like three inches shorter than him! Bane could tell there was going to be future problems with this man, unless they figured them out now it was going to be entertaining later on. There had to be a reason he was here, right? The Police wouldn’t just hire anybody off the streets… well maybe they would, they where that stupid. She decided that playing sweet and innocent was the most logical choice, but luckily for Vincent, Bane was running on nothing but coffee and that bagel thing she ate on her way over here. All that considered, she was not really going for logical right now.

“Working together?” Bane reflected on this fact for a split second and shook Vincent’s hand. “Well only if I must,” she teased back. “I’m Jacky. I do all the medical stuff around her and whatnot, and all of the autopsies. That’s the main reason I’m here. Figure out what’s killing off prisoners. Not that I mind or anything, but you know social correctness at its finest.” Bane took half a step back from Vincent, and started to feel tired. Then she began to wonder where she could find a decent cup of coffee.

Vincent quirked a brow at the remark on not working together unless she'd had to, but shrugged it off. He knew she was probably joking, but was curious about how much truth there was in it... All the same, his face hid his thoughts well, behind that sideways smirk that he always wore like a mask, just as effective as the goggles over his eyes.

"Vincent." he finally responded as he shook the hand, and then released. "I'm, uh... A bit of a specialist. One of my friends had heard about this little... Happening, and I needed money. Though I'll be the first to admit that I'm probably the last person they'd have called if I hadn't come to them, given my last little escapade with Blitz..." He simply watched her as she took a step back, his eyes nothing but voids of inky black behind his lenses.

((Ohmigodohmigodohmigod I'm so sorry. My friends kidnapped me a couple days ago and I couldn't get to a computer in time to say anything. x.x))

Hmmmm… a specialist? That was an interesting way to put it. Bane began to wonder if this poor fellow was ashamed of being a Metahuman, or unsure how to tell the world that he was. Then she wondered what his abilities were… “Well it’s a pleasure to meet you Vincent. What type of specialist are you? Murders, Thieves, Metahumans etc? I’m only here for the entertainment. Oh, and do you know where I can find a decent cup of coffee. I’m about to run on empty, and as much fun as I am when I’m lacking caffeine, I won’t subject you to it…” Bane noted that Vincent had really black eyes behind his totally amazing goggles, but she wasn’t going to tell him that this early in the game.

"I don't really drink coffee myself, but I know a place a short hike from here. I actually worked there for a while." He said, deciding to start with the coffee question. He did find it awkward talking about his powers, but the reasons were threefold: People tended to react badly to metas in his personal experience, his powers were less than impressive when compared to others of his breed, and... Well, he'd laid path of destruction down wherever he'd had a confrontation, though that was, more often than not, the fault of who he was up against!

Finally, he rolled his neck and made a small flourish, his body being covered in a layer of translucent, coppery energy in solid form, with a slightly metallic look to it. In another moment he ducked to the ground and put a hand toward the sky, a dome-like barrier forming around him, before melting away as quickly as it had formed, and leaving Vincent now back in his normal look as he stood up again. "In short, they let me on the job because they have nothing to lose but a few dollars from hiring me. If they're right in thinking I'm nigh indestructible like my moniker claims, or I'm not and they have another problem off of their hands. Now then! About that coffee."

Wolf sat in the vent system feeling for energy signals from strong people as he walked silently. He moved along the noise from the metal adjusting was almost inaudible over the normal noises of the prisoners. Some were able to sense that something was around, something that took humans off the top of the food chain and put them back into the prey slot. Wolf however was full and content, unless someone arrived who was strong enough to prompt an attack it would be a couple days.

Ooc: I am so sorry!!!! I haven’t been on long enough in the past month to post any decent reply to anything! I feel like such a terrible person, for leaving so suddenly and without any explanation. If this thread has died let me know, but if it hasn’t I’m going to post anyways and see what happens. Once again, Neo, I Am So SORRY! (Not screaming at you I swear)

Bane perked up at the thought of a good cup of coffee and started to pay more attention to Vincent then she had earlier. The poor fellow hadn’t been that interesting, but at the drop of an imaginary hat, he had suddenly gained some interesting perspective. So he was a Meta! One of the few things Bane enjoyed was being right, and she hated it when she was wrong, not that she’d ever admit that or anything. “Hmmm that was interesting, and very pretty. I have a fondness for pretty, shiny things… Oops I seem to be spacing out again. That coffee sounds positively brilliant right now.” So he was in it for money, didn’t the cute fellow know there were better jobs that paid better. “Worked there you say, does that mean the coffee is amazing?” Bane was also slightly famished and hoped the coffee shop would have pastries or something. “Shall we depart?”

OOC: I know I'm not in order but no it isn't dead, Neo and I were just talking about the thread yesterday.

Vincent just gave a little laugh and led the way out. He didn't have a car or anything, so he was used to walking, and it was luckily not far off. "The coffee is exceptional, to say the least. It's the only place I'll get coffee from, and they have something like a hundred different flavors they can make just about anything. That said, it's not fun trying to learn to MAKE the entire menu."

"Anyway," he asked after a few moments, "What about you, Jacky? You just doing this because it's your job? And do you have any exceptional abilities, mundane or otherwise? I did just tell you part of my motivation and a little of what I can do, after all." And it was mostly true. He had a couple reasons for taking the work other than just money, and he could do more than just create barriers, though the analogues for most of his applications would still be considered defenses.

Ooc: go ahead and skip me wolf is just searching the prison for big prey. Like I said in the last post

Bane followed Vincent out onto the street and listened intently to his explanation of a hundred different flavors and the lack of amusement in trying to learn how to make all of them. She thought it sounded fun to work in a coffee shop, since she could in fact make many different kinds of coffee. “A hundred different flavors you say. Is there any kind you highly recommend? Or do I just try every one of them and pick the best?”

He then asked about what she did and Bane was unsure how to answer that, since she was a doctor, a coroner, a killer, a shopkeeper, a black market dealer, and a poisoner. “Other reasons I took the job… well let’s just say I took the job for the future benefits it will bring me. Equivalent trade and whatnot. I autopsy the idiots behind the bars and the idiots who run the facilities give me what I need when I ask for it. Well that and the entertainment factor of this case. Nothing more nothing less.” Well that was sort of true. Bane knew the job would be entertaining because the note said it would be, not that she knew who had posted it or anything, but whenever something ended up on the board, it generally came true.

“Exceptional abilities… well you could say that I have some. They're not exactly physical abilities like yours, they're more of a knowledge ability with a slight physical aspect. I am known as Bane for my endless knowledge and skills with poisons and other deadly things. That would be the knowledge aspect, the physical aspect would be the toxicness of my blood and or my very being, so to speak. “ Bane glanced at Vincent and wondered if he would flee from her very presence. She wasn’t really lying when she said her being was toxic. That’s the main reason life hated her so much, because of the damage she causes to everything. That would also be the reason she’s a doctor know and tries to help people instead of killing them off like normal. It’s complicated.
