Petite but leanly muscularOther Traits:
Ryuu is the epitome of cliché short-but- savage archetypes; at only 4’8” and no growth spurt in sight, she more than makes up for her diminutive appearance with voracious physical strength. Having been trained from an extremely age to inherit the family title of next-big-world-ender. Her muscles are evident but not ridiculously so, having incorporated a specialized workout routine. (see ‘strengths’) With incredibly long hair always tied into a high ponytail, sharp features, strong eyebrows, a literally white complexion and eyes that shine like galaxies, She wears heavy black eye makeup, black fingernail polish, has 13 piercings in her left ear, four in the right, sports small onyx gauges, several eyebrow and lip piercings, cheek piercings, clavicle piercings, and more. Ryuu has a gallery of tattoos, primarily, a Japanese-style red dragon made to look as if it is snaking from her right leg across her back and over her left shoulder. Additionally, a black geometric hornet lays on the right side of her neck. The western constellation of Scorpio is depicted on her right shoulder, including a number of other constellations that dot her entire body, done in shimmery gold. A white Siberian tiger with piercing blue eyes appears to climb Ryuu’s left arm, done in traditional Japanese style.
«««SKILL SET»»»Main Power Origins:
Rapture’s basic “true” form, the Yokai Priestess is a manifestation of her own soul, without the aid of her three spirits. She retains pique physical health, has fantastic stamina, and can outperform even the most physically seasoned of athletes in areas such as running, jumping, stamina and strength. In addition, Ryuu is able to conduct spiritual energy in this forme that serves as fuel for her spirits. By performing rituals both in the privacy of her home and on the go, she can replenish energy and ready herself for the grueling tasking of embodying a spirit. She becomes hyper-aware of spiritual activity and can detect spiritual entities, no matter their base source ( religion, black magic, the earth, etc ) and without regard to their alignment.SPIRIT GUARDIAN GATES:
Ryuu can utilize the abilities of three Japanese spirits. They cannot be used simultaneously, and each has its banes and boons. The spirits are as such:
• GOLDEN SCORPION: A symbol of wealth, luck, and speed, when Ryuu inhabits the spirit of the Golden Scorpion, she gains enhanced reflexes and speed. She can outrun most, clocking in at a personal best of 30mph. Additionally, Rapture is able to construct the Scorpion’s signature weapons –– dual charkram. However, Ryuu’s natural strength is lessened while in this form.
• MOTHER TIGER: The penultimate symbol of motherhood, the Mother Tiger bestows enhanced senses, intuition, and strength. Rapture can lift up to 20 tons. Additionally, Ryuu gains access to specialized brass knuckles that really give a pack to her punch. However, Ryuu’s natural speed is lessened in this form.
• GREAT RED DRAGON: As her maternal family’s patron and a symbol of blood, honor, perseverance, and unfaltering power, the Great Red Dragon is by far Ryuu’s most powerful and dangerous spirit. When he comes into play, you better start ****ing running because Ryuu is no longer in control. The Great Red Dragon, also known as Ryuuzaki, takes over when his descendant is rendered too mentally and psychically unstable to continue, serving as the ultimate “last stand”. When this happens, he possesses Rapture and uses her own blood as a weapon ( see ‘Blood Spirit Blade’ ) In order to do so, the Great Red Dragon manifests physically as regenerative blood. This ability allows Ryuu to sustain the weapon while covering that vulnerability, but can only do so for up to four minutes. During this time, Ryuu’s strength and speed are boosted at the cost of lower stamina, these abilities only lasting thirteen minutes total. A thick darkness trails wherever she’s taken, four horns rise from her skull, and a palpable feeling of rage, dread, and despair can be felt by anyone nearby. She is only free of the Great Red Dragon once his personal stamina is gone, too. After being possessed for more than thirteen continuous minutes, Rapture always passes out and needs extensive healing.
THE IVORY CROW:
• FLIGHT: the ability of flight via wings that can appear and disappear at will. When flying, her body adapts to air pressure, temperature, and other factors necessary for comfortable flight. Rapture can comfortably fly at 150MPH without the help of a tailwind for up to half an hour at a time before tiring. She can hit max speeds of up to 180MPH when diving. Her normal cruising speed usually clocks in at 70MPH. However, in order to reach those speeds, Rapture must gain proper momentum.
• DEFEND AND ATTACK: the wings can become harder than steel without affecting their weight. Rapture can utilize her wings as weaponry, turning her feathers into energy projectile weapons that are launched like a barrage of arrows.
• ENHANCED PHYSICAL ABILITIES: the form of the Ivory Crow allows her to have enhanced speed ( up to 30 mph w/out flight ), stamina, and strength ( up to 10 tons ),
• THIRD EYE: after consuming the Ivory Crow’s third eye, Rapture gained the ability to see hidden spirits unimpeded, as before she could only see vague shapes and outlines.Skills
very organized • not easily bothered • makes the best worst dad jokes • has stolen at least one edgelord crown • very put-together • cats like her • so do dogs • can carry a tune • looking like a human refrigerator due to all her piercings • mildly flexible ( can touch her toes w/out bending ) • can do a backflip • eats an impressive amount of food for her frame • can defuse or worsen just about an situation • has never intentionally killed a spider • politically aware enough to know what “covfefe” refers to • never gets scared of scary moviesAbilitiesABILITY I: SEASONED PHYSICAL POWERHOUSE
Ryuu has exceptional physical training from an extremely young age, trained both in defensive and offensive combat from parents. She uses her small stature against her enemies, catching them off-guard through their damning underestimation. Using a conglomerative style of aikido, kickboxing, krav maga, gymnastics, and bojuka. She earned the moniker of “Little Scorpion” due to her shared nature with the creature; she’s small, she’s fast, and strikes with potent, crippling force. Specific Weakness(es):
While extremely practiced in these arts, Ryuu lacks real-world experience, having fought her father and mother more often than anyone else. Additionally, with so many disciplines, she is not an all-around fighter in each category, focusing primarily on aikido, bojuka, and gymnastics to supplement her closely-guided combat training. Additionally, Ryuu is no match for physically superior opponents using only her own strength. She must rely on mental fortitude, manipulation, and her spirits.ABILITY II: SPIRITUALLY SOUND
For someone who denounces all gods, Ryuu continues to practice Shintoism in order to better her relationship with her spirits. As a side effect, she is able to recognize individuals with extremely volatile souls and souls that radiate goodness and pure intent. This intuition can either be a boon or a bane, for she is quite effected by both ends of the spectrums. However, as a devout worshiper of her flagship spirits, her spiritual awareness is at a peak. Specific Weakness(es):
Without proper tribute to her spirits, Rapture is shut out of their gifts. Practices include praying at customized shrines, home-made incense and meditation, spilt blood, clear intentions, and surrendering her humanity in order for the spirits to flourish. If she slacks on these vital offerings, she can experience detrimental effects such a slowed moment, weakened strength, and mental torment. Physical Weaknesses
See AboveMental WeaknessesFUTURE UNCERTAINTY
With lack of conviction and what to do with her life, Rapture often feels torn between saddling herself with heroes, becoming a vigilante, or taking up a villainous route. In all actuality, she does not see individuals as heroes nor villains; she sees a wide spectrum of self-serving, self-righteous, and/or self-aware beings, all dealing with the struggle of humanity even when they are not classified as one.PSYCHOLOGICALLY VOLATILE
Quick Recap – Ryuu learned a how to kill like a pro from a young age, was deeply and disturbingly manipulated into believing her father’s genocidal crusades were holy, and more. Rapture helped destroy the majority of a country, aided her father in successfully obliterating the Buckingham Palace and Parliament at the young age of 12, killed her own father, watched her mother be sacrificed to the Norse God, Tyr, and somehow evaded punishment by fleeing to Japan and taking residence with a legendary tattoo artist. To summarize, she’s traumatized as ****. Although only 18, Ryuu suffers from a litany of psychiatric disorders, including but not limited to post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety attacks, night terrors, nightmares, insomnia, visual hallucinations, and attachment disorder. She participates in yoga and spiritual-based psychological healing, although its effectiveness is questionable.Equipment
SEIÐR-INFUSED METALS: The entirety of metals used by Rapture ( piercings, weapons, spikes, etc ) are made of a substance called Uru, a magic-conductive substance similar to earthly metals but not made with the same materials. This makes her metals stronger than usual and negates magnetization and electro-conductivity. They are nigh impossible to melt and can withstand extreme temperatures. Rapture obtained the Uru from her father’s side and found a forger to repurpose it.
WEAPONIZED ATTIRE ( kanji: faith ) What gives Rapture an edge are her small arsenal of weapons –– two steel folding fans that can be disguised as everyday objects, useable for throwing, close combat, and adding to literal edgelord appearance. Additionally, Rapture can use her spike accessories as weapons to stab, jab, and basically be really annoying.
DUAL CHAKRAM ( kanji: control ) - a disc shaped carbon steel throwing weapon with a sharpened outer edge, traditionally thrown by flinging the weapon from the inside, like a hollow frisbee. Ryuu’s Chakram are different in that both outer and inner edges are sharpened featuring a grip-able hilt with two protruding blades for extra versatility. These blades can be thrown up to 50 meters, with the cost of having to retrieve them, or even the right enemy to use them against her. However, with the Golden Scorpion’s built in speed, Ryuu can move more quickly, using this ability to throw and catch with relative ease. Additionally, having a carbon steel component provides a near vulnerability to breakage. Finally, Ryuu has a further edge when at pique spiritual synergy - magic based electricity that can surround the Chakram without affecting her person. She cannot use the electricity long ranged. It is self contained to the weapons. This ability can only last for nine minutes, however, and cannot be used again for another four hours.
NIGHTMARE Gauntlets ( kanji: strength ) - This set of gauntlets are not your typical variety - they’re imbued with Seidr, a Norse magic. The specific Seidr infused within the weapon conjures a ghostly mist and feeling of dread when used, providing coverage and psychological warfare. When faced with these weapons, individuals who are surrounded by the mist for at least 40 seconds are assaulted by feelings ranging from grief, despair, dread, and fear. Similar to her dual Chakram, the effect lasts up to nine minutes and has a cooldown time of four hours. This effect can be negated by failing to stay in the mist for long periods of time. ( example: want to monologue while Ryuu is using the gauntlets? Dumb idea. Don’t waste your time... or, you know, go ahead! ) When the effect limit is met, the brass gauntlets revert to ordinary weapons with the additional strength of the Mother Tiger’s spirit. Zenith modified the knuckles to now become gauntlets. The effects are the same
BLOOD SPIRIT BLADE ( kanji: 'family' ) - The pinnacle weapon and edgiest of all, Ryuu’s Blood Spirit Blade is a manifestation of her maternal family spirit, Ryuuzaki, The Great Red Dragon. After transforming ( see ‘powers’ ) Ryuu immediately begins to generate a backup supply of blood in order to power the blade, which is entirely comprised of solid boiling-hot blood that can slice through steel. Additionally, when making contact with other objects, searing blood splatters will eject from the blade, effectively turning it into a mid-range weapon. Although blood is expended, the Red Dragon’s regenerative properties provide a constant source of material. However, this ability only goes so far - it is the ironically most draining of powers, lasting only four minutes at most. When her time is up, Ryuu is left with only the Blood Spirit Blade she last created becomes especially vulnerable, having expended her energy supply and a great deal of blood. When combined with the cooldown of nine minutes for heightened strength and speed ( see ‘powers’ ), a full-blown confrontation lasting more than thirteen minutes results in an inevitable psychological, magical, and physical collapse.
SPIRIT TALONS: gauntlets specially-made for Rapture that allows her to use retractable talons to use as weapons. They are made of the same material as the rest of her metals, Uru, which is a nonmagnetic magic-conductive metal similar to steel. Imagine Wolverine's claws, only shorter and not grafted into her skin.
As a child of one of the most dreaded villains of the decade, Rapture would seem to have the odds stacked against her by way of heroism. However, despite her father’s lunacy, he taught her strong principals such as always being better than yourself, what constitutes the morally corrupt and the morally righteous, even if those views were skewed by his extreme viewpoint (heroes = cancerous to human growth, organized government = a pacified, stunted people, the suffering and sick = viable souls for ‘exaltation’ aka purging). Rapture’s mother taught her the principle that everything living has worth, and everything inanimate is worthless. Instilled loyalty to country and lore has led Ryuu to question what is said by the preeminent powers while putting more stock into what can’t be seen, which can explain her cynical views on authority and penchant for supernaturally powerful entities.
Ryuu approaches her environments with a flexible logic, looking for practical solutions to the problems at hand. She is independent and adaptable, and typically self-propelling. She has an astute sense of her environment, making her proficient at moving quickly and responding to emergencies. Calling back to her father’s mantra – never hesitate, never waste energy, lethality is a must – her natural inclination is to get the ‘job' done as efficiently as possible, destroying the possibility for her adversary to repeat their sins. However, this gospel is one she cannot follow if she wishes to become a ‘hero’... or at least, something akin to one.
«««PERSONAL BACKGROUND»»»Family Members:
Ryuu’s father, the late Ragnarok, was once one of the most threatening, powerful, and successful villains in the Western Hemisphere. However, Tyr always treated his family with unflinching love, respect, and kindness. He always treated his wife, Yukistu, like a goddess and made sure that she would always remain safe. If you were able to get this maligned Icelander drunk, he may even let slip that his favorite child was little Iðunn, named after the Norse goddess of youth and immortality. Notable accomplishments: murdered countless non-native Icelanders, practiced archaic and brutal Norse rituals such as human sacrifice, literally destroyer Buckingham Palace, took control of foreign militaries only to squander them, killed hero after hero who dared defy his campaign, and other unknown atrocities. Along with his two eldest sons, Fenrir and Jörgumandr, many great cities fell to the trio of terrifying, tyrannical titans. Yukitsu Ryuuzaki:
Ryuu’s mother and that last full-blooded individual to carry the Ryuuzaki name. Nicknamed “Yuki-Onna”, meaning ‘snow-woman’ by her husband, a name attributed to a terrifying Japanese demon. Yukitsu was a submissive woman, doing everything she could do to please her husband. She always had an impending sense of doom that Tyr would lose control one day and trample his entire family. She was especially protective of Iðunn (who always insisted on being called “Ryuu” around her mom), of whom she knew would be brainwashed, exploited, and placed in Ragnarok’s doomsday family circle. Notable aspects: Went along with Ryuu’s training because she thought it was the only way her daughter could survive. Taught Ryuu Japanese and about her heritage, how important the Great Red Dragon was to their family, and the idea that her life was more important than any of the oppositions’.
Older Brothers (x2): called Fenrir and Jörgumandr, respectively. Not important enough for further description. Place of Origin:
Despite being born into a wealthy family, Ryuu’s childhood was anything but pampered; her ultra-violent father, the infamous Ragnarök, and her ultra-passive mother, Yukistu, tried in vain to raise a balanced child. Instead, Tyr Ymirsson took control of his daughter once he realized she showed signs of great power, power to exploit and use for his own bloody reign. From a young age, Iðunn “Ryuu” Ymirsson-Ryuuzaki began training in spiritual and physical combat, having inherited an otherwise believed-to-be-dormant power set from her mother’s illustrious side of the family: the ability with the moniker of “Spirit Guardian Gates”, which allowed Ryuu to summon the spirits and abilities of three separate high-ranking Yōkai –– the swift Golden Scorpion, the powerful Mother Tiger, and the legendary Great Red Dragon, a volatile creature that served as the Ryuuzaki’s guardian and judge.
Ryuu prospered with intensive training regimes and ultra-strict disciplinary tactics in exchange for her childhood. Lessons ranged from meditation to lethal combat, utilizing supernatural energies to physical attacks, varied martial arts to advanced mental fortitude. In other words, a powerhouse in combat who lacked the proper social and ethical skills and understanding to function without her father’s guidance––something he instilled within her from a young age.
Keeping his daughter close, Ragnarök took her daughter and two sons, Jorgumandr and Fenrir, on an assault upon British Parliament. His aim was to easily wipe out the integral structure in order to “rebalance” society’s reliance on political fortitude. He succeeded, at the price of two sons –– and another life soon after. Returning home with his last living offspring, the usually timid Yukistu went into a grief-stricken rage, defying her husband and attempting to attack him despite her clear disadvantage. Tyr, also filled with grief and rage, spared no time in punishing the defiance – punishment by strangling to death.
Ryuu did not hesitate and used no more power than necessary to kill her father, fleeing shortly afterward to Japan in search of a place to utilize her powers for good. However, she found herself killing criminals rather than catching them, and in fear of being caught after so many murders, she moved on years later to a city called Jump, a hopeful prospect to restart her life -– without taking life.
«««Sample RP»»»’Never hesitate. Never waste energy. Lethality is a must.’
The words of her father had been so methodically planted into the young girl’s subconscious that they might as well have been her first words. Her mantra. Her gospel. Her orders. One by one, the opposition became human sacrifices to the Old Norse Gods as Iðunn Tyrsson-Ryuuzaki served up they who had intruded upon her father’s land. A small group of townspeople had taken to the featureless Salander ice fields, guns and fire and literal stakes waving in the air as if angry villagers from medieval times. A flash of golden sparks, terrified screams, confusion, and precisely- made cuts to numerous arteries, and the opposition had all fallen. Man, woman, beast, no one was spared. When joined by her father, she received a pat on the head and a proud grin as the insanely large man inspected his daughter’s lethal craftsmanship.
“This is a fine scene, daughter,” Tyr nodded. “A fine scene, indeed. Now...” he turned, and sighed apologetically. “Time to clean up.” His daughter’s face scrunched up, but she put up no fight. “Don’t worry; I’ll help you. Family helps family, right?”
Ryuu mused as she looked out of the plane window. ’…this is when I prove myself. I will join Fen and Jorgy in father’s ranks, and gain their respect once and for all. Yes... now, all that’s left is––‘
“Iðunn, focus,” her father brought her back to reality. “When we arrive at the London airport, you might get overwhelmed by your new surroundings. Keep close, speak only when you need to, and mind your manners. Just follow suit, and you’ll be okay.” A soft, warm smile helped her nerves to calm. Her brothers were already in the city, taking residence in key areas.
Not long after emergency response units, tactical squads, and a number of Pro-Heroes had arrived, Fenrir and Jörgumandr Ymirsson had been slain, their titanic, grotesque forms now reverted to revolting piles of blood, bone, guts, and hair. They had pushed themselves too far and paid the price.
Ragnarok had no time to mourn his sons as he pressed forward, charging Buckingham Palace and swiftly obliterating the structure, causing damage beyond belief. And despite losing two sons, the supervillain resumed his human form with calm coolness. Iðunn was meant to meet him at a secluded location where they would enter a covert jet and head back home. Complete the mission, return the base. Easy.
Yukitsu Ryuuzaki watched her sons go up in flames with an icy aloofness. When her husband returned home, her temper flared. Ryuu had never seen her parents scream at each other, never saw them fight, never argue. The scene did not compute. Taking the more advantageous route, the thirteen-year-old quietly retreated to her room so that she could assess the situation without so much background noise. But when everything became silent, Ryuu knew something was wrong.
Her sweet mother’s lifeless body confirmed the worst. Tyr was standing, stiff and stricken with shock. His reddened hands led Ryuu to notice the deep, raw rings around Yukitsu’s neck. ’Do not hesitate.’
Ryuu’s body was filled with the Golden Scorpion’s swift justice, and in milliseconds, her hands were heavy with the weight of the Scorpion’s dual chakram, the round serrated blades feeling... right in her steady grip.
‘Never waste energy.’
Two strategic swipes, and she was covered with her father’s blood, a seemingly endless spray of the red liquid from his nearly-decapitated head a testament to Ragnarok’s mortality. ‘Lethality is a must.’
Her father didn’t even have the chance to respond, he had trained his daughter so well. Not even a minute had passed before Rapture became an orphan. It was, perhaps, the best thing to happen to her in her entire life.[/size]
