A Home Warming Gift (HIVE and Titans)

As soon as the robot approached the tower, a blast came from the nearby straight of land. The Titans had evidently done some work to their defenses since the last few times their home was attacked. An alien invasion, the Russians, the Americans, evidently they'd made some improvements. And it obliterated the poor juggernaut without a chance to fight back. A loudspeaker kicked up and a woman on the other side cleared her throat. "You know, it's funny to me. You think you're smart, you think you've got it all figured out, and yet here you are, like an idiot. Jumping right to our front door wrapped up like a package."

She clicked her tongue and the tower came live. These weren't even her or Hotwire's adjustments. This was what was left for them, what was left by Cyborg. Cannons rose from the nearby rocks, mines clicked into an active mode, and the tower locked itself down. No one in, no one out. And no one could hack into Darla without having a direct link to her server, before you even start to question it. That's how technology works. That's how computers work.

"And you know, the best part is that this tower can take a bomb and keep standing, but you think a few explosives are gonna drop it. It's almost comical, honestly." The safety came off the cannons. "Now get the #%!$ off my lawn." She said simply, signalling on the TALON communicator Yang had been given.

CAP was not completely oblivious to the possibility that they were walking into a trap. The fact that they managed to get on the island without any floating mines, sharks with lazer beams, or any aquatic based defense system for that matter didn't lull him into a false sense of security. That was why he had the robots positioned the way they were. Due to some forced programming by HIVE, CAP was being coerced to ensure the safety of HIVE personnel. In this case, Greed and Lust. So they had a small entourage of the special shield roller droids unfurled and marching along with their shields up to protect against ambushes. Around that were the modified Cycloid MK2s with their beam cannons, then the rest were mixed groups of Slade Commandos and Cycloids.

And naturally, The Juggernaut was at point. And the closer they got to the tower, the more suspicious CAP was getting about their walking into a trap. But if their enemy was arrogant enough to think they could stop them so as to let them walk up to their front door, he wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. But then a cannon came up and blasted his Juggernaut, to which the offending turret was blown to all hell by a bullet hell of return fire. It had been totally unnecessary for one turret but CAP was expecting more turrets to pop up, as would have been normal in a military situation.

When Yang started her ego stroking spiel, the droids opened fire on the first sign of movement in the form of cannons coming up. Cycloids with their beam cannons charged up and let loose a panning beam of energy to wipe out as many turrets in one go as they could. This wasn't some anime where the villains would stand idly by as the protagonist made some kind of speech. When the cannons started powering up, Slade Commandos took to the air using their jet boots. Because one of them had such things in an encounter with the original titans, and CAP was quite insistent that they have something for added mobility since the Cycloids and Shield Rollers were bulky or slow moving normally.

"You know, it's funny to me. You think you're smart, you think you've got it all figured out, and yet here you are, like an idiot. No where to run, in a pretty package," crackled an off sounding Yang from the main computer. It was clearly CAP trying to imitate her voice and since he only heard it from outside it wasn't a perfect imitation. But it was a decent first try. And incase you're wondering, CAP is simply broadcasting by using the signal the titans use with their communicators. Because the team in the city was close enough for CAP to isolate the signal used for their communicators, and since the tower was built to receive transmissions (First Episode of Apprentice, Slade did it) and CAP could broadcast his being to possess computers, it was easy for him to atleast pop up in the main computer for a chit-chat. Unfortunately he was stretched too thin to be able to do anything apart from annoy Yang. Unlike Hotwire who mentally... hotwired electronics, CAP mentally muscled his way into more directly controlling them. And he was also more limited in how he could do that based on the fact he needed something that could broadcast a signal.

"Your city will fall. Your home will be burned to the ground. And even if you stand and fight, you will get to watch it all happen," CAP said simply.

Because they were surrounded on all sides by turrets, there was no logical point to stand and shoot back hoping to come out on top with numbers. How easily these cannons tore through a Cycloid should have made that obvious. So the Slade Commandos would be trying to take some aggro off of the group and give the turrets harder to hit targets flying around in the air. CAP wasn't stupid, he was still unsure of the full capabilities of these turrets but from his initial guess concluded that their would have to be a brief "cooldown" period between shots or else the turrets would overheat. The fact they were firing particle beams also meant that any delay would result in a lost unit. But that didn't mean he would lose units at all by taking evasive action.

But even so, with CAP's control the airborne Commandos were flying and dodging with unpredictable flight patterns to try and increase the odds of a cannon missing. Because if this system was any good, these turrets would be easily able to simply predict the flight path of a unit flying in a straight line. If for some reason Yang had the cannons focus fire on the ground units, then the commandos would punish her decision by literally destroying every turret in a wide spread bombing run with their Xenithium+ energy pistols. CAP was mostly having them draw fire away and not having the Commandos fire back too often. But when he saw a chance to fire back safely he did, and if a unit was lost he had another unit swoop in and get themselves another pistol. But only if he saw that he could.

Anything that wasn't able to fly had it much worse off. CAP still realized that they had no hope of weathering the storm of particle beams, so anything not trying to protect Lust (Greed had already done Greed things and out of range) was making a mad dash toward the front door while firing back at the turrets. The Juggernaut was at the forefront, only slightly hindered by the impact of particle beams as it thundered toward the tower while smashing anything that was in it's way.

Yang rolled her eyes. "Proud of you. Gold stars." She muttered under her breath. It really wouldn't be the first time her tower burned down. Or the second. It actually wouldn't even be the third time. "I swear to god I've done this song and dance four #%!$#(@ times, you'd think that the bad guys would have any level of originality to them at this point. But noooo it's always lets burn down Yang's fancy house! She's made of money, she'll just build another one."

She muttered and flicked another switch, then she noticed...weren't there more of them before? She searched until she found Greed and cursed under her breath. "Any time now TALON..." She muttered, electrifying that half of the tower. That ought to channel enough electricity into Greed to blast him halfway to Antarctica.
