One of those Days (Bow)

Things weren't going so well for Fenrir. He was sitting outside a real hole in the wall bar, cigarette in his mouth and a firm scowl in place. It had been about 15 hours since he became a single man, and he'd taken to drinking and smoking... which surprised him, he never thought he'd like cigarettes. Yet here he was. This hole in the wall bar had decided to try and card him, leaving him unhappy.

Then he decided to walk. Why sit here and wallow? He couldn't even remember where his car was. It was starting to get dark out, and after walking for about 10 minutes the rain started. Another sigh escaped him as he flicked the cigarette away and put his hands in his pockets.

After about 20 minutes of walking in the rain, he barely noticed the stinging cold night air. He didn't notice much... He needed a drink.

Emily had had a rough few weeks. Turning into a kitten at school, being increasingly scared to go home afterwards, not able to go on missions with her friends. The girl was starting to wonder if she should even try anymore. It felt like every time she tried to do something, it either failed or blew up in her face.

Today was no better. As soon as she got home she saw a note on the counter saying that she needed to have everything cleaned and go get groceries before they got home. Oh! And not to forget about dinner. The girl sighed and got to work.

It was starting to get dark when she got done grocery shopping. The girl didn't have a car so she was stuck walking with her arms full of heavy bags. When it began to rain, she just sighed. The chilling air shook her to the core, but she trudged on.

That's about the time she saw him. Why was he out here in the freezing cold rain at night?? Not like she was much better. She bit her lip and caught up to him. "H-hey Fenrir... w-what are you doing out here in the rain?? Y-you're gonna catch a cold..."

Fenrir was pretty out of it when his name was called, and like a dog his head perked up to find the source. Spotting Emily, he tilted his head in confusion. If he cared, he'd probably start doing things to stop people from drawing comparisons to him and a dog. He didn't care though.

"Could I say the same to you?" He challenged, hands in his pockets and a rather neutral expression on his face. "Besides, I kind of like the rain. I don't normally like it, but I don't feel normal today I guess."

He sighed, then looked at her with a frown. If he was in his right mind he'd probably offer to help her carry those bags home. "Why are you here? This isn't exactly a safe area to do your shopping you know."

Emily was shivering from head to toe by time she got to him and sneezed as he responded to her. As soon as he spoke though, she could sense something was wrong just from the tone of his voice. He wasn't normally a cheery soul, but at least he had expression in his voice. This didn't seem right at all. It was like he was dead or something.

She shook her head to get her thoughts away from that as he asked her why she was here. The kitten blinked and bit her lip, looking away from him down the street. "I live over here... Just a few blocks down actually... but I thought you lived in a better neighborhood... why are you all the way over here?? You should be getting home soon..." The girl was thinking the same about herself. If she didn't have dinner done by time he got home, there would be hell to pay.

She sighed and looked up to him with a soft smile. "Would you like to come to my house for a bit? Even if you like it, the rain isn't good for you..."

He wasn't really listening to what she said. He was looking around as if just realizing that this was in fact an unsafe neighborhood. It didn't really bug him much but it was always better to be mindful of where he was at. Usually he was so good at paying attention to details. "I'll walk you home."

It was a poorly thought out decision. He shouldn't go to somebody who was basically a stranger's house alone. Or if her parents were there that would probably end badly. Maybe she had an overprotective dad? Ella did...

The thought made him scowl. It was time to move, before he got more frustrated. "Lead the way, Kitten."

Emily nodded and began to walk down the street walk again, struggling with the heavy load she was carrying, but she didn't say a word about that. All she could think about was the fact that she was going to get yelled at for the soggy bread. She sighed and tried to think of what she should make for dinner so that it was done before her parents got home.

Then she thought about the fact that he would would yell at her when he saw Fen there too, but she decided that was one bruise she would be fine to wear. The wolf looked like he needed some company and, even though she wasn't very good at it, she would try to help cheer him up.

Unless he spoke, it would be silence until they reached her apartment and she fumbled around to get the key to it. "W-watch your step..." Once inside the building they had to climb a staircase four flights up and, if he was paying any attention, he would see all manner of sketchy business going on

Silence it was until they got to her apartment, as Fen kept his hands in his pockets and face apathetic. When they got there, and she warned him about watching his step, he seemed to snap out of his trance. He shook his head quickly to get the water out of his hair. Inside, he got another cigarette ready as he followed the girl.

He did notice the sketchy business going on, and saw a few people eyeing him. He wondered what they thought he was going to do with Emily when they got upstairs, but then realized he didn't care and lit the cigarette. "Nice place."

The comment was dry and sarcastic, but he barely noticed how rude it was to say. Somewhere inside he noted how terrible it was she was staying in such a dangerous place, but he figured not everyone was as blessed as he was with money.

Emily bit her lip when he commented on the place, but she couldn't disagree with him. She just sighed and opened the door to the apartment. It was crummy to say the least, but it looked as if at least one person had tried to keep the place clean, though with as many cigarette butts laying around, stains, and rips in all manners of furniture, it wasn't doing much good. She went immediately to the kitchen to set the bags down and then blinked, looking back at Fenrir.

"P-please try and make yourself comfortable..." She realized he must be freezing cold and went and ran off to grab him a towel. She placed it around his shoulders, still shivering herself and sniffling. "W-would you like some sweet tea? Or maybe something a little... stronger?"

The girl went back to the kitchen after hearing the answer and got him a nice cold beer. She brought it back to him and sneezed lightly. "S-sorry..." The kitten went back into the kitchen to put everything away, still trembling from being in wet clothes and refusing to take anything off. She didn't want to ask anything out of turn so... She just got started on dinner.

Fenrir decided to sit. The moment he did, he felt his exhaustion set in fiercely. He'd been walking around all day, and lord only knows how far he'd went. Emily was nice enough to offer him a drink just in time for him to notice how thirsty he was.

"Something stronger, if you could." He replied, laying his head back and running a hand through his hair. "Why were you shopping in the rain like that? Couldn't wait?"

He dragged on his cigarette, trying to make a conversation that would distract him from... everything, really.

Emily nodded when he asked if it couldn't wait. "...I-i needed to get the groceries home and start on dinner before my mom and her boyfriend got home..." She sighed and looked back to the stove, shivering. The neko didn't want to say too much in case it got her in trouble. Then she thought about that again and bit her lip. She should get him out of here soon, but she couldn't just throw him out into the rain.

The girl browned the hamburger meat and boiled the water to put noodles in. She then looked back at him and sneezed again. "D-do you have a way to get home, Fenrir? I-if not... th-then... well... I-I guess you could stay for dinner..." She bit her lip, not liking that idea very much, but not knowing what else to do.
