What Lurks Below (Titans Unregistered)

A regular day in the hub. Just a normal Day. Hotwire wasn't all that sure where the others were. But he knew where he was. He was on the couch, playing the game Jenny had gotten him for Christmas. It had been a month since then, but he just hadn't gotten around to it. Everything had just gotten so busy... but he promised he'd set aside some time and enjoy his gift.

He popped in the game, and sat back. With his powers, he never had a need for a controller. One of those little perks of having complete technological control. The game started up, ready to go, and...

Everything went dark. A blackout. This puzzled hotwire for a moment. Blackouts weren't supposed to happen because-

The power was back. It stayed on for a few more seconds and then...

What on earth was going on? Eventually the lights stabilized, but they were dimming. He immediately grabbed up his communicator. "Titans to the Ops room. We might have a problem..." He said as the light flickered a little again. "A big one."

Yang had been working in the lab when the lights went out, and when it came back up she immeidately hit the kill switch. This was a really dangerous position actually. If any of the equipment in the base were to break a hole in it, it'd be located in the labs. She was then presented with another problem though. It was very, very dark. Fixing up her armor, her hair began to glow enough to light a path for her. Sometimes, that was legitimately her favorite power.

After having an entire competition with the elevator shaft, she pulled open the door of the command room to see Hotwire before the lights came back on, and then back out again. "Did someone called for a living flashlight?" She said with a laugh, heating up some more and lighting the room adequately enough for anyone else in the room to see.

"Something's up with the power." He said walking over to the holodisplay. A map of the sea floor around the base popped up on his command. A yellow orange light appeared at an outpost which was attached to the base two miles away by a thick metal conduit. Around the outpost was a wide fissure.

"As you well recall this place uses geothermal energy to run. We have two outposts. One's working just fine, but the other one's down. The two of us can probably go fix it. But we'll probably want Jenny and Metamorphi to check in on the other one just in case."

Metamorphi was in the gym, sitting on a bench with a bottle of cool water, taking a quick break as he had been exercising for almost an hour he took a quick swig before standing up and walking over to the punching bag. He crouched and raised his fists, swinging his left fist at the bag, making a loud smack on impact, rocking the bag back, before Meta threw a right hook at the bag, making it swing to the side. He jumped into the air, spinning around, so when the bag swung back he hit it with his heel, swinging it back.

When the bag swung back he dodged around it, he then turned to paper and went to swing his fist with enhanced speed, intending to turn to steel at the last moment to add to his punch, breaking the bag off the chain and sending it flying. But suddenly the lights went out, distracting Meta, making the bag smack right into him, sending him off his feet and crashing into some exercise equipment.

He groaned and got too his feet, cursing loudly, he looked around, wondering what had happened, the lights turned back on, only to turn back off again and then back on, as if something was toying with him This better not just be Harmon deciding to become a prankster he sighed and took another chug of water as he was contacted by Harmon, being ordered to report to the ops room. He placed his water down and started to head over.

He arrived shortly later, as Harmon was mentioning Meta and Jenny's part of the plan, he cleared his throat so that attention turned to him Hey Harmon, Yang, mind telling me what's going on? his workout shirt was covered in sweat, he wasn't exactly presentable, but he didn't have time to cover his shame.

Jenny drop kicked a woman's gun out of her hand stepping down on it as she spun her staff around her body wearing her new costume. She smacked the staff down on the woman's head just hard enough to knock her out. She then grabbed the bag of Jewels the woman had stolen as the police arrived to grab the woman and she took the jewels back to the store they were from walking not noticing her communicator go off because of the police sirens going off.

Jenny then handed the jewels back to the owner and waved to him as she flew to the portal and was about to use it but then paused when she saw it messing up turning on and off. '.....' She then thought back to Hotwire telling her when she joined the team how the portal would shred her to pieces or something if she didn't use it right and went a bit pale and lowered her hand deciding it wasn't smart to mess with it at the moment.

Jenny then pulled out her communicator to call Hotwire about it but saw she missed a call and listened to it and sighed. But she smirked and made an orb around her head under her hood and jumped into the water swimming down a few feet before turning around her back facing where the base should be and held out her hands and charged up a blast and shot it out at the sandy drop off point and used the blast to push herself rapidly at a very fast speed toward the base.

After a few moments of her swapping from push off point to push off point she made it down to the base within about a minute. She then swam to where the hold for the sub was and swam up threw then hole and climbed into the base and panted making her orb around her head shatter and she stumbled a bit but shook her head. 'Okay that took a bit more energy than needed but so much better than possibly shredding in the portals.

She then walked to the main ops room dripping wet a few moments after meta did and she stood next to him looking at the holodisplay then to Hotwire "The portals were acting wacky so I took the long way in." she then looked to Meta's sweaty shirt and whispered. "I so beat you in the wet t shirt contest." She then pulled down her mouth mask and hood. "So what did I miss?"

Yang shrugged at Jenny's question. "We're just having a bit of trouble with power. Two outposts. Me and Harmon will go fix the one that isn't working, should be more than enough brain power between us. You two are gonna go be the muscle and make sure nothing's screwing with the other one, Kay?" She tossed Meta a flashlight, then turned to Jenny.

"FYI, you know I'd win that contest." She teased, tapping Hotwire on the shoulder afterward. "Well I have all my gear. Any tools you want me to grab before we head out there?" To be totally honest, Yang had seen very little of this base outside of her lab and the danger room. She mostly worked on those, and she hadn't even been shown how the power worked. It seemed straightforward to her, but it'd be best to find out now if it wasn't.

Hotwire turned to Yang. "Hm. Not that I can think of. We should go out, survey whatever the damage is, then return here for the needed tools to fix it." He said pulling up a 3D image of the geothermal reactor.

"It could be any one of at least 20 different things, and we won't know what it is till we get there. No point in bringing tools we won't need." He said.

"We should all meet in the Airlock."

Only moments after Meta had arrived and asked what was happening, Jenny arrived and asked to be updated on the situation as well. As Jenny stood next to Meta, she made an amusing comment, Meta would usually refrain from acting like his real self during an emergency, but Meta chuckled slightly. Quickly, he made it look like it was a cough and averted eye contact with anyone in the room for a few seconds.

Yang then explained the situation to them, telling them that they were to figure out what was wrong with the second power generator and try to fix it if possible, Harmon then added that they should go back and gather the tools they need for a second trip if it wasn't something they could fix without tools. Meta caught the microphone that was thrown his way and nodded to show he understood what he was being asked, he turned to Jenny Do you want to get ready before we go? Maybe change into some fresh clothes?

Jenny nodded, she was never really the muscle on missions yeah maybe something close but never the straight up muscle, maybe this would be a fun change. "You got it boss." Jenny then when she heard Yang's comment she blushed a bit her irises light blue. She then cleared her throat a bit trying to focus her blush going away a bit but her irises were still the same. She then nodded to Hotwire looking to Meta.

"What for their just wet, besides were going back into the water anyways we might end up getting wet again if something comes up." She started heading to the air lock. "now come on sweaty, we shouldn't leave the bosses waiting" she said sticking her tongue out at him teasingly and pulled up her mouth mask and hood. She knew that Hotwire and Yang hadn't left to the airlock yet but hey can't hurt to be at the meet up point early right?

Yang nodded and went with Hotwire to the airlock. All she had bothered to grab was a small plasma cutter. Just something they could use underwater if they needed to, ya know? Didn't help to be somewhat prepared now did it? "You know these wires better than I do. Lead the way."

Hotwire made his way to the airlock, and began to put on his diving suit. It was a streamlined orange and red suit, made of metal with all kinds of futuristic looking trimmings. Despite how it looked, it wasn't like a power suit or anything. Just a very advanced piece of diving equipment. When this was done, he would step into the airlock and wait for the others.

Meta heard Yang add to the joke that Jenny made, he smirked when he noticed that Jenny got embarrassed and blushed. He looked back at Harmon, acting as if he hadn't noticed Jenny's embarrassment, but he noted down Jenny's behavior for future reference. Jenny then commented that there was no point in changing, since their shirts would get wet again You say that, yet you're not the one who smells like sweat despite saying that, he followed her to the airlock and waited with everyone else Everyone ready to go?

Meta wouldn't know this and most likely only Yang would know why Jenny really was blushing at Yang's comment but she hadn't been blushing out of embarrassment no she was blushing in remembrance of why she and Yang both knew why Jenny would know she'd win the competition and also she was blushing in remembrance of a certain memory only the two shared. She went to the air lock with Meta smirking at his comment. "Well if we get wet you wont for long." She said as she waited on the others looking to Hotwire. "Snazzy suit you got there Hotwire." She said checking out his suit then looking back to metal nodding. "Yep all set."

Yang had done the same with her own modified diving suit. It was just made to keep cold out a bit better than average to avoid her, ya know, dying. She had a rebreather as well, just in case things got abnormally stupid. "K. I guess I'm ready." She said, maintaining her status as the best flashlight ever.

Hotwire prepared the lock. "You can keep up a shield under this pressure right?" He asked Energy. Then he turned to Meta. "As for you meta, just stay in a shell of titanium and it'll feel like you're walking on the moon. Just remember to take one of the specialized gill packs." He said pointing to a rack on the wall.

"Yang and I should head out first, then you two follow." He said as the door slid shut. Energy and Meta would still be in the hub outside the door. They could look in and watch as water filled the room. The door to the outside would then open and close once they had left. The room would then empty, and they could enter the airlock.
