| The city was vast, spreading for miles on end in every direction, and from here, he could see the ocean, with its beautiful dark blue waves and white crests. The buildings were, in their own special way, magnificent, some reaching high into the sky. He sat on the grassy knoll of the hill he stood on that very moment, just taking it all in. The sweeping curves of the city limits, the not so stark gradient into the surrounding wilds.
But it wasn't without it's darkness. It was true that the outer borders had their own beauty, but at the sacrifice of the innocent woodlands and nature itself. He could see a layer of smog over the city, a result of years and years of polluting cars and factories. The mixed emotions he felt from looking at this marvel of civilization brought a single tear to his eye as he breathed in and out, slowly.
He himself was a young man, with shoulder length, dark brown hair, moderately thick eyebrows and an unkempt goatee. His eyes were the color of amber, and seemed to hold wisdom deep inside. He was dressed in clothing not normal for this day and age, as he was in auburn robes, wearing a red scarf about his neck and a thick blue sash around his waist, his arms wrapped in pale green cloths. By now, he had taken a meditation stance, calmly breathing in and out as he closed his eyes.
Soon enough, she was there. Bright like the moon, pale and lustrous, sitting across from him on the same hill. He felt a smile. "Hello, again, Mitsuko," he said to the spirit. She was the spirit of light, and of peace, and was both a part of him and was his guide. Mitsuko smiled brightly to the human, nodding to him. "And hello to you, Zhi. It's nice to talk once more. Are you in need of guidance?" the spirit asked. Zhi nodded eventually, gesturing to the expansive city before them. He began, "I came here because I feel...an unbalance there. I want to help."
The spirit smiled. "You are right in doing so. This city could use someone like you. And I'll be right by your side." With that, Zhi closed his eyes and when he opened them, she was gone. He got to his feet, a smile still on his face, and he began to walk into the city. Soon enough, he was inside the outer limits, and in another few minutes, he was in the massive downtown section, with towering buildings all around him. He looked around, obviously new to the sight. | |
