welcome to the jungle (open)

Maxzine sat in her mom's car staring at last place she wanted to go back to school but sighed she knew she wasn't going to get out of it besides a Imakandi didn't run away.  Pulling up her hood Maxzine got out of the car and threw on her backpack with a quick shout of, "Bye Mom!" Made her way up the steps to the middle school section of the high school. Once inside she put her head down trying to avoid her local bullies if only she was watching where she wasggoing in the crowed halls she wouldn't have bumped into her main bully Carrie. Carrie smirked and said, "well if it isn't the freak. I thought we  got rid of you." Growling and getting Carrie to look kinda scared as she still recalled the last time she called her freak. Maxzine said, "Off to a bad start again Carrie my pranks only have gotten better thanks to dad's training I run if I was you." Maxzine laughed as Carrie paled and but smirked when she saw a subsitue teacher. She rushed over to him with fake tears in her eyes and wailed in a pitfalls voice, "Sir the cat girl just threatened to get her father's tribe to hunt me like an animal. "

Growling Maxzine made her way to the sub to give her side of the story hoping that at least some of the other students would back her up but was prepared for word against word situation. While saying loud enough to be heard by Carrie and the teacher, "First of you called me a freak and said you thought I was finally gone, Second my father's people wouldn't hunt you. You would make the worst challenge in the history of the Imakandi people a cubling could smell you and find you within the first five minutes miss use half the bottle of lavender sent ed body wash and is wearing a terrible choice of deodorant to go with said body wash."

Kardus roamed the halls of Murakami High, taking in the scenery.  He wore a smile on his face, actually really happy to be here and getting to see what the kids here were being taught.  That might be easier if her were actually attending a class instead of teaching one, but this worked too.  

While going over the material for the day in his head of what classes he was supposed to teach and where the students were in them, he was disturbed by a girl explaining she had been threatened.  He listened to her plea and the cat girl's response, then nodded to them both after listening to them.  "She's right; I can smell you from here.  If she threatened to hunt you down then it's probably because you gave her one, considering you wouldn't make good game.  Or maybe you would...I don't know.  It's been a while since I last hunted human."  He paused to think, then shook it off when he realized his thoughts were wandering.  "Anyway...don't call people freaks." said the man with pitch black skin and neon cyan hair.  "That's exactly the kind of thing that will cause you problems.  Unless you WANT to be hunted down in the middle of the night, chased through dark alleys before feeling the sharp sensations of talons being driven into your ribcage and ripping them open with vicious ferocity.  If you do, then keep it up!  I'm sure you'll make plenty of enemies that will be more than happy to do so."  ^^  The man held a cheerful and honest tone the whole time, striking a tone as if he was just giving another lecture.

It seemed that both girls where not expecting the response that was given. Maxzine was the first to recover she looked over to Carrie and then said, "I think you broke her mind." Maxzine snapped her fingers in front of Carries's face a couple times before Carrie finally snapped out of it. Carrie gulped as she paled when looking at a smiling Maxzine's sharp teeth showing. then ran as if her life depended on it. Blinking a couple times before bursting out laughing Maxzine turned to Kardus and smiled shyly before finally getting the nerve up to speak and said, "That was awesome! Other teachers say that all the time about how I could do that if I wanted to but never with enough detail to accually get the point across to actually get it through the bullies head. What class are you teaching and please tell me your a permanent teacher Mister?" Cutting her sentence short due to not knowing the man's name. Maxzine took a moment to observe the teacher his skin was black as pitch his hair was a light blue. He looked to be in his early twenties and stood at around five feet ten inches all and all the man in front of her was unique to say the least she couldn't help but wonder at his comment on hunting humans and how well of a hunter was he and weather it would be rude to ask.

Kardus smiled to the Maxzine and her shy yet pleased response at Carrie's retreat. Seemed the human girl didn't really like the idea of being hunted, or living up to the results of getting on bad terms with the wrong people. A pitty; she might end up learning that lesson the hard way. He looked back to Maxzine after watching Carrie run and responded, "Call me Kardus. I teach math and science and...no, I'm not planning on being a permanent teacher. But you might have me for the rest of the semester at least." Pausing to look over the girl's exotic, feline form and appearance. Her hoodie didn't do much to hide her looks from him as he could see right through it. "So are you taking either math or science?" he asked her. "And if so, who might I have the pleasure of teaching?"

"That sucks. I take both of those accually and my name is Maxzine.  I can't wait to see how my dad reacts to you if you are staying for a semester.  Most hide behind their desk when he shows up it doesn't help that he is in a bad mood as mom won't let him bring his weapons with him as he used them on a teacher that had the gall to say that I should be removed from school if I couldn't act like a normal human. I kept on poncing on people and catching mice for the fun of it during recess she thought I was going to eat them I guess my dad's tribe is big on hunting for the challenge of it and big on honor he thought the teacher was insulting the Imakandi tribe." Said Maxzine as she pulled down her hood as she could tell Kardus could see through it was a hunter thing like when people tried to hide in the shadows on holloween to try and scare her it was pointless as she could see as clear as day at night .

Kardus listened as Maxine talked about her dad, and smiled.  "Well he sounds like an interesting guy.  I'd like to meet him sometime."  ^^  "By the sound of it though, it seems like you have a hard time fitting in; as if that weren't obvious.  I've been told the entire purpose of this school is to help metahumans fit in, but eventually you learn that discrimination and hatred will always exist.  Tell me whenever you see it happen and I'll do what I can to help."  Kardus smiled to the cat girl.  "Other than that, I look forward to seeing you in class."  ^^

"True and dad is as long as you don't insult the tribe. The school actually does a good job on that for the most part on trying to stop it but if people want to be bullies they can face the consequences for their actions I will let you know about anything that happens before I resort to my normal methods of getting people to learn you would be surprised how many people can't take what they dish out well I guess I will head to class look foward to learning from you." said Maxzine and began to  head to class with a wave to Kardus.

Toji entered the school, grumbling. Maaaaan....I don't wanna go to school. But Pack leader Kale ordered it...... What a hassle....." he groans, remembering when Kale gave him the 'mission'......

Kale grins at Toji, seeing the look on his face. "Hey, relax, Lightning Wolf, little buddy. You need to know more about the modern world, right? This is the way. Besides, if you survive a semester, I'll let you drop out if you want.So, do this for me, alright. Toji sighs, nodding. "you are Alpha, and I'll obey......"

Toji growls. "Wish The Forger had done cats, then I'd be more disobedient! Still, nothing to do, now. Just have to deal with it!"He grins, scratching his blue hair as it sparks, ignoring the gasps of the other students. The young Halfling was wearing his standard relaxation hear, sleevless shirt, shorts, and sandles. A book bag, stuffed full, rested on his back. Pulling out a sheet of paper, the demon hunting Teen Titans United member frowsn, confused. "Shop? WHy would they teach how to buy stuff? And what's chemistry? Is that like Alchemy? Math?! Oh no.........What a drag...ah, physical education...that sounds fun!! Maybe it's like training! Ah, they have a few martial arts clubs, as well, I'll join those later...."He walks forward, busy concentrating on the sheet, before bumping into a guy with blue hair also. "Sorry...Aaaah, you have blue also! Wait...are you a Okamian?"

Kardus listened to Maxine and nodded to her. "Please do let me know when it happens and I'll see what I can do. You take care now; I look forward to seeing you again as well." he said to Maxine with a smile. Just then, Kardus was bumped into from behind by another student. Turning his attention toward the half-demon, Kardus immediately noticed the size and power of the boy's spirit. This boy was a strong one, VERY strong. He blinked at the boy's question and replied, "Okamian? Mmmmm no...I don't think so, considering I don't know what that is; though I could be wrong. Care to explain?"

Toji tilts his head, examining the substitute. "Hmmm, don't think you are....For one, I don't see an Okamian Arms, and Dad told me they usually carry them in the open.Besides, you don't seem like a ravening....what's the world...nutbar!" he grins, proud to have remembered the slang he had heard earlier."Okamians are an ancient group of storm wolf spirits that were once gaurdians of humans and judges of evil beings, but they fell, becoming demons. My dad, though, fell in love, gaining back his kindness, though he lost his powers....I'm half Okamian. " He smiles, like it was totally normal. He didn't bother telling things further. The Halfling was still too raw to talk about what happened, though the marks on his neck were proof that something happened...

Maxzine stopped by her locker that happened to be down the hall. Her right ear twitched as she heard a familiar voice as he asked if the subsitue was related to him and that he was a halfling like her in a way. She turned and sure enough there was Toji.  She smiled to herself and wondered if he was going to be in any of her classes. She hoped so she looked to her watch she still had enough time to talk. She pulled out a stick of beef jerky to snack on and waved to him.

Ooc: want to skip to like kardus' s classes or lunch ? After you guys wrap up your conversation.

(OOC: I'm not sure. I suppose we can skip after the conversation with Kardus and Toji is finished? Also sorry for the late post.)

Kardus listened to Toji with interest. "Spirits and demons you say? Interesting. You say you're half Okamian?"

Kardus looked up to see Maxzine wave, and smiled as he returned a small wave. It wasn't to him but he couldn't tell that. Looking back to Toji he added, "Yeah, I can confirm that I'm not Okamian; though I do have the 'ancient spirit' part in common. My kind are known as Arraseen." Though he said nothing of it, Kardus did happen to notice some marks on Toji's body, likely indicating captivity. He started to think of something to ask Toji later, just to check to see if things were alright. He seemed happy...

Toji looks at Maxzine, who waved at him. Grinning, he wavesback."Taushu, freind!!" He remembered the slavers they had taken down, together. That had been a dark moment, for him......Looking back at the sub, he grins. 'Arraseen? I don't recognize that clan.... And yah, I'm half Okamian, but the clan doesn't exactly approve...that was why I was so concerned. They're very powerful, and though they were once protecters, they Fell, and would have no problem hurting innocents." Noticing the look Kardus gave his neck, the halfling pulls his shirt collar up, hiding the marks. He quickly changes the subject."Erm.....what class did you teach, again?"

(I have no problem, skipping ahead! By the way, Taushu:Greetings in Common Okamian, in case you all were wondering. ^_^)

"Taushu to you too! Hope to see you in class." said Maxzine realizing that she never got the boy's name before closing her locker door and locking it with a srug to herself she b would just find him later and ask as she started to head to class. While checking over her schedule and dodging the random student going the other way.

(Ooc: Sorry for my prolonged inactivity.  Life and lack of muse have me down.)

Kardus listened to Toji and then looked at his watch.  "Next class period?  Math."  He blinked, looking into a book he carried.  "Where are 15-year-olds in math again?  Pre-algebra?"  He looked through it for a bit.  "Oh...no..geometry.  Fun stuff.  Anyway, you've got ten minutes till next class, so I'll be heading out to mine.  Don't be late!"  With that he left, waving as he headed to his classroom.  

If you were to ask Kardus how well the session went, he'd say it went fine.  He was a very enthusiastic teacher and was good at explaining the material well, though he was a bit...bizarre, at times.  Still, he wasn't bad at what he did.  

Later that day, as lunchtime rolled around, Kardus stayed back to briefly look over the assessment tests he had each class take.  It wasn't terrible but honestly...well...honestly Kardus felt that each and every one of them did terribly.  He had to keep telling himself that they were only human children and if they were already good enough at geometry to find the volume of a human being in 30 seconds with nothing but a ruler and a piece of string, they wouldn't be in school.  He arrived at the cafeteria pretty much last, getting in line as he was served part of what was left.  As he sat down, he stared a the food, contemplating what possibly could have gone into making it.  "....This...cannot be good for them."
