So I'm sure all my villain and neutral members are wondering why their names are now the same colors as everyone else on the forum that is not apart of staff.
I'm sure they're also wondering why heroes group has become members group and why application names are now colored - if any of you bothered to check that is.
The answer to these questions is that you all have multiple characters - some good, some neutral, some evil. Therefore the old way of categorizing you all as members of a certain affiliation didn't quite make sense because you could be a villain/red name member but roleplay two heroes and one villain with one of the heroes as your main character.
We have decided to change this odd labeling to fit the characters and not the members. Now you will find after approval that your apps will either be colored; white for heroes, red for villains, or dark blue for neutral characters. (Please do not color your application on your own, this is for moderators upon approval, and for those of you who can't resist the urge or forget make sure if your character is a villain the name is red and so on.)
Users with specific name colors from now on will only be special members or staff
EX: Emblem and Krious or Division 6 and Admins, etc..
---------------------------------
This is a two part announcement.
The second announcement is that your characters will now have the ability to gain renown.
What is renown and how does this work? Well to explain this I have to ask you what is the difference between Superman and Supergirl in the eyes of the people?
What about Robin and Beast Boy? How are they perceived in the world of superheroes. In both cases one has more renown, or rather recognition, than the other. However in both cases both are heroes - Beast Boy is not weaker than Robin and Supergirl has the same abilities as Superman. The true difference in their standing is the respect they have earned.
This ability to rise and earn respect is being introduced to the community.
How?
Through effort of your roleplays. Those who post often and/or are in threads of amazing quality or/and generally write posts of amazing quality are going to be rewarded for their efforts from now on via more notably on the forum - for the character, not the roleplayer.
If a character were to be in most of the threads on site and always contributes amazing quality to those threads that character will become more infamous or famous on the forum.
EX: If you have a hero they will become more well known gradually until they are known throughout the world. If you have an assassin that assassin can be known and feared by clients all over and possibly other assassins (or no one can know him at all, just of his deeds.) If you have a villain, that villain will be known as a high level threat to the forum, and so on.
This will also extend into their other hobbies - if your character wants to be a politician, they will be well known by other politicians until eventually they are a global icon. If your character is a singer, they will gradually become a household name. Etc.
This is a reward for all of you to grab hold of with your amazing roleplay skills. There is no con or drawbacks from it, you can go about roleplaying as normal, no need to alter the way you do anything, unless YOU want to.
--------------------------------------
Now the question becomes how will this be implemented?
To help achieve this goal from now on when threads are finished let a moderator know or write, "END" in the final post of the thread/in the title and weon staff will put it in the new "completed roleplays" section. This section is for the site (especially moderators) to read through completed threads. Even if you fail to do so moderators will be periodically cleaning the roleplay board and putting finished threads in the completed sections. These threads when completed is what will be earning your characters renown for consistency, readability, creativity, character actions, etc.
Think to yourself how often you've wrote something and realized only you and the person you're roleplaying with will read it. Not anymore. Your efforts, writing, skill, and commitment to the forum will be seen by everyone, and I personally encourage you all to read the threads of others when you have time. Truly there are some amazing characters on this forum that only 5% of us know about.
Your characters as they ascend in status will gain different name colorings to their applications, as compared to other characters on site - therefore it's known that character has renown; yellow/gold for heroes, purple for villains, and gray for neutrals. Remember this achievement is earned over time, not instantly. It takes more than a few threads and more than an amazingly well put together post to gain a lot of renown on the forum.
This is a life achievement reward for the veteran characters here that commit the most or worst crimes and the heroes that stop the most crimes and have the most righteous heroics. Or maybe they're just really dedicated doctors, athletes, etc. Additionally your characters will be mentioned in plots, the news, storylines and much more as they gain renown. The world of this forum will begin to recognize your character and their efforts.
In closing, I urge you all to start finish more threads, be more active, and really try to make your posts interesting. There is no punishment or cons here for not doing so, but only rewards to be reaped for your effort in the form of recognition for your roleplay characters.
