The Thread

In response to the pain he felt, Adriano was doing a lot of vocalising and hot-foot dancing. Like a relay baton, the job of stopping Jay had fallen to the third brother Ernesto. As described in the last post, up there above yours, unless this isn't foalfire reading, in which case not above yours, but you should be able to extrapolate various positioning based on the your understanding of impersonal possessive pronouns; erm, where was I? Ah yes the post. Ernesto had been the Kishi to slam Jay back into the alley floor, grounding her take-off. He was thus in prime position to continue his assault by weighing down on top of her.

The girl did offer token resistance. But the demon had three things going for him. First of all, if not in stature, then he was able to out-muscle a human through his supernatural strength. Secondly, that same supernatural physique granted him a degree of enhanced endurance. He did not react as strongly to the blows raining down on him as one may have done. A dawning moment for the thief would have been when she succeeded in clamping her teeth across his fingers, failing to draw a reaction, let alone blood. And finally the fire which had been so effective up until now. Assuming her wings were still blazing away, they would flail at the demon's bare chest and exposed arms, only to strike bone.

The explanation for this was the Kishi's ability of Gestalt form. Geraldo, the original combatant of this engagement, was currently residing inside Ernesto's body. Safe from harm, Geraldo could severe parts of his own body without fatal repercussions. That he did. Parts of Geraldo's skeleton had grown patchwork across Ernesto's skin to fashion a sort of armour. This protected him from the worst of the fire. A good thing he had discarded his shirt, else igniting that might have become a cause for concern.

Sufficiently able to weather Jay's storm of abuse, Ernesto went for the pin. His plan was to hold her arms and legs steady until their fourth brother showed up. Then they could kick the living tar out of this ill-fated mugger and retire back from whence they came. Also, something about returning the man his groceries. Yeah.

"Consider yourself lucky, Feathers. Had this been last year I'd just eat you. Alive."

Jay huffed as the demon thing pinned her, obviosly not bothered by anything she was doing to try to escape. She glared when at him when he called her 'feathers' though.
"Feathers? Really? Ill give ya two points for no one else having used that one yet but.... really?" She shook her head and then attempted to think her way out of how to get out of this mess. She was doing so good for a while there... and now this guy was saying something bout eating her, "and trust me im sure I wouldnt taste good, so, how bout you just let me go and we all just go about our day? Hows that sound?" She gave a half smile and then kinda pointed at the spilt lunch, "you already ruined my lunch any way."

As she spoke, the second Kishi with scarred palms gingerly stepped up to the pair. Adriano held his hands up like they were still on fire. The very air scolded his tender skin. First degree burns weren't a delight to live with. Thankfully he could stop existing for a while. Adriano touched his brother's back with an elbow and disappeared before Jay's eyes. He too was now inside Ernesto. The dominant Kishi appeared to consider his prey's feeble attempt at excusing herself.

"It's true that I already stopped your little baby crime. I'm suppose to turn you over to the cops. That's what my Parole Officer would want. But I not quite milked this encounter for all the entertainment value it got." His head rocked back in a laugh. Though not a normal human laugh. It was the shrill lolling of a hyena. Or rather, a pack of hyenas. Three voices came out of his one mouth, giving a sort of echo.

A third hand emerged from Ernesto's chest like a scene out of Alien - sans gore and without puncturing the demon's skin. It moved across his torso as easily as through water. Fresh burn marks streaked this new arm. It belonged to the first Kishi; Geraldo, who was taking refuge inside his brother. Geraldo's arm now reached for Jay's throat, intent on making it difficult for her to breathe. Yet his grip would not be tight enough that she couldn't shout out.

"Do you know how long it's been since we heard a girl scream?!"

However long it had been since they had heard a girl scream, it would take even longer than they thought for them to be re-acquainted with the sound. A certain registered hero was in the area and had heard the scuffle, apparently this girl had committed some minor crime and the 'hero' who had captured her was going to make her suffer some more rather than turning her in. The registered hero, who's identity I am not stating even though you already know it is Kane, gritted his teeth.

The hand was just reaching for Jay's throat, when something from above cast a shadow on his hand that was slowly getting bigger as whatever it was got closer. If Kishi didn't want a few of his ribs to be crushed into a fine powder, he would have to give up on grabbing Jay by the throat, otherwise Kane would appear dramatically from above and kick him in the chest with enough impact to send him flying, a pretty cool entrance but not his best, Kane rated it 8 out of 10 You don't need to bother with Miss KFC, I'm all the entertainment value you need! He spoke jovially, but it was clear from his expression that he was close to snapping.

The kick connected with its mark. Onyekachi went flying down the alleyway, whereupon he landed roughly on his bare back. There was light bruising where the kick had connected. But it hadn't broken any ribs, for the Kishi's constitution exceeded that of an average person. Still, the demon was acutely aware that such was not a normal attack. The masked avenger wielded some sort of superhuman strength. Enough to leave a mark on five tons of durability.

Onyekachi stood as he was taunted, chaffing at the bit to get back to his quarry. If only he could have broken its neck, then he could have been sure it wouldn't escape. Now he had to deal with this joker quickly. Deal with him in some non-lethal manner. Ugh, handicaps. "Hey, what gives? I got things under control here. So why don't ya just pee off and mind your own darn business?" He started walking forwards eyes fixed upon the obstacle.

Kane sent the guy flying with his kick, but apparently that was not enough, because the guy just straight up stood back on his feet, but Kane was glad for that, his anger wouldn't be satisfied with a single kick. He grinned and bounced up and down on his feet What gives? Oh, you know, nothing much, I kind of just overreacted, sorry about that. No hard feelings right? Well, let's just let bygones be bygones. he then stood out of Kishi's way and started walking away, only to turn around and try for a kung fu jump kick to his side.

He was really just joking around, so he wasn't kicking at full force, there was roughly 5 tons of power behind that kick Of course there are hard feelings! You're choking her! All she did was steal some food! Like, even if you are gonna capture her just for that, you hand her over to the police! he cricked his neck from side to side before seriously staring her down You don't seem to be a very good hero, that is, if you're even trying to be. If you walk away right now and don't ever bother this girl again, you get to walk home, rather than being driven to prison! To show he meant business, he applied pressure to the pavement with his toes, cracks spread from that point like a spiders web for almost a metre, showing his massive strength that he was holding back.

At the guy's invitation Onyekachi continued his advance. There were a lot of rude things running through their mind about this new arrival, but their interest was in the girl. If he kept out of their way like he had wisely decided to do, then they were happy to ignore him. While the sudden reversal might have seemed suspicious to some, the brothers imagined the coward wasn't used to his targets standing back up after being kicked. Seeing a person who did must have sapped him of all confidence to see this battle through. A total p-word.

For the second time in as many minutes the guy punked Kishi. This time, however, Kishi had managed to get a plate of bone between his flesh and the offending shoe. He collided with the brick wall of the alleyway, hard enough to make cracks. Once more his ribs were fine, but the plate of bone he'd blocked with had shattered. That attack was keenly felt.

It didn't look like the hero would allow him to rise without further punishment. And so Onyekachi stayed sprawled upon his back, nursing his bruises. Listening to this forthright tirade of righteousness and what Jesus had preached - neighbourphilia. The guy obviously had power to spare. It wasn't worth fighting on his terms, "She got everything she deserved and then some. I didn't see you jump in when she were setting me alight. So what if I get a kick outta repaying the favour? That ain't no crime. Unless you not got the stomach for it." Onyekachi held out his hand, making like he wanted help standing up. From seemingly out of nowhere gastric acid would spray from his palm and at Kane.

A pair of legs would appear out his back so Kishi sprang to his feet vampire style. Thus he wasted no time in following up his hosing with a punch. The intention was to clout Kane around the head for maximum delirium inducement. Taking a page from Kane's book, his strength was also held back so that it would be right for someone of a normal human constitution. Hey, just because the f'worder had super-strength, it didn't mean he had super-durability alongside.

Kane felt his kick connect, but the sound it made sounded weird, it didn't sound like hitting flesh, it sounded like he was hitting something hard, it confused him, but the fact that he also heard the hard thing break made him feel significantly better. The guy hit the wall and fell down, he was completely serious about letting the guy walk away, but that didn't mean he had to help him up. This cold lack of compassion probably saved him some acid in the face, since he was able to dodge the acid because he was at a distance.

The guy leapt to his feet, he didn't expect the guy to come up so fast, so he didn't completely dodge it and got clipped on the side of his head, Kane grunted and stumbled backwards from the impact, blinking rapidly. It wasn't a direct hit, so he was able to come back from it, he used the momentum to respond with a kick aimed at his chest that was slightly stronger than the last one.

Onyekachi felt their blow connect but was still taken aback by the opposing speed. This guy was fast. No, fast wasn't the word for it. The guy was light on his feet. Deftness gave him an edge in this battle which his power could exploit. Close quarters combat was his forte and they were trapped in an alley. Fortunately only his legs were lethal weapons. The danger Kishi posed was far more porcupine. And so as the foot struck his mid-rift three things happened.

First the bone armour splintered. Secondly - ribs broke, this time inside his body. Third and last, a tail extended out of Onyekachi's chest and coiled around the leg as it whipped back. Like a bungie cord this tail cut short the demon's flight and prevented him from hitting another brick wall. The brothers snagged their tail with an extra pair of arms and pulled with all their strength against Kane. If this brought their foe surging towards them Kishi's original arms would attempt to punch him. If it sent Kane flying passed them they would attempt to clothesline him instead. And if he stood his ground - tug of war.

Kane's kick connected, he heard the same sound that he had heard before, like something breaking, it must be some kind of armour that was being formed, only to be broken by the kick. He also heard a breaking sound that he was much more familiar with, the sound of ribs breaking, a sound that he had heard from the body of many a common street thug. What happened next was something he had never seen before though, a tail appeared from the man's chest and wrapped around the leg that had delivered the kick!

The man was stopped from being sent flying with this maneuver, then the leg was grabbed by two extra arms that grabbed it, Kane was almost too weirded out to realize what was going on next. But when he did realize that Kishi was going to try and pull him over, Kane pulled back with his own strength, based on what he had seen of the fight so far Kishi had to have had less than 10 tons of strength, so that's the force with which Kane resisted. When it was clear he was the dominant one, he spun and tried to slam Kishi into the wall.

Kishi lost the tug of war. He became aware of this the moment (or perhaps a moment after) Kane was not sent sprawling in the direction he had envisioned. This human was stronger than him. Not especially surprising in Jump City where tough customers were residents by the bucket-load. Those who could not take a hit were impossible to hit. He had hoped the direction of the power he was putting on Kane would allow him to outmuscle a strength that was evidently directing downwards to his feet. What Kishi didn't know was that this hero could literally defy gravity with his footsteps.

Onyekachi was swept along with the attempt to slam him into the wall. An attempt became a success. The brothers were once again acquainted with with brickwork. This time - however, the impact was cushioned. A menagerie of organs grew out of Kishi's back. Heart, lungs, spleen, livers, kidneys; all of which burst under the tremendous force being leveed. Given his already compromised ribs, Onyekachi was smarting, but not defeated.

The demon came to rest in the insection between wall and floor. One arm grabbed a hold of the leg still bound by the tail growing out of his chest. The other arm punched at it. The first arm would also find a jaw growing out of its palm. This jaw would attempt to bite down on the leg; its jaw strength quite possibly the greatest strength the Kishi could muster out of his entire body.

Kane's attack was a success, with the power of his own legs he swung the mighty Kishi into the wall, Kishi probably would have gone through the wall and through the wall on the other side of the street, but he formed a bunch of organs to cushion the impact. Kane groaned in disgust, but quickly realised that the guy still had a grip on his leg. Kane's leg was punched, making him groan in pain, and bitten on, making him cry out in pain.

If Kishi kept having his way with Kane, this fight would be over fast, so Kane swung his foot upwards, if Kishi held on he would be lifted into the air before being smashed into the next wall. If Kishi was smart enough to let go, Kane would go to stomp on his chest with enough force to make someone of his durability but with ordinary endurance pass out from the pain, but Kishi may be tough enough to stay awake.

Kishi didn't have any more organs to pop. Well maybe just one. A spare kidney. But that was only good enough to cushion the impact to his head as his body slammed bodily into the brickwork. He hadn't let go. That did it in for the brothers. They were thoroughly beaten and in no condition to continue mounting resistance. Even breathing would be a labour. Unfortunately this did not relieve Kane's most immediate concern. The jaw sticking out of Onyekachi's palm was still locked.

A Kishi was basically an anthropomorphic hyena. And while lockjaw in animals was a myth, it was a myth founded on the absolute tenacity of the jawbone mechanism. A hyena exerted more pressure than its closest predecessor the pit-bull. So while this jaw may be opened, it wasn't going to do so without some sort of lever. Or a bout of adequately applied super-strength.

While the winged girl was gone. The two combatants were not alone in the alleyway, "Oi! You bar steward! They're gonna end up charging ya rent for the hospital ward I put ya in." Bernardo looked exactly like the last Kishi. He was the spitting image of his brother. A little late to the party but it looked like he was still gonna see some action. He charged across the long runway, hopping debris where it lay.

For a moment, it seemed like Kane had won, his foe was vanquished and he was victorious. It had seemed like that for a moment, but the great pain his leg was in reminded him that he was still in trouble, he was bleeding out and in pain. Kane tried to get his fingers in between, but couldn't prise it open. Kane was just about to try an open it with his feet somehow, when another joined their party, but three was a crowd, he had to get rid of this guy.

Kane stared the new guy down as he ran at him, all of a sudden Kane was a blur as he rushed towards Bernando, aiming to kick him in the side of the head. Kane paused for second before the kick, grimacing in pain from the jaws, but Kane would then continue the kick. At the speed Kane was going at, hey may have been able to just take Bernando out like that, but the second of hesitation gave Bernando an opportunity to react.
