Personality: Simca is usually depicted as having a Beast Boy-ish personality, and is often seen with a calm and sweet expression on her face. But unlike Beast Boy, she rarely acts on impulse and usually thinks things through before she does anything. She also is very close to her friends and is very hesitant to put them in harm's way. If someone hurts her loved ones, she applies a completely different persona to her sweet, flirty, fun-loving and calm nature, going sadistic and serious and ready to hurt the person who hurt her loved ones in painful ways.
She is also a romantic, believing that love is a beautiful thing and should blossom, but she does not actively look for a partner, as she is afraid of the concepts of betrayal, cheating and the ending of a relationship. That doesn't prevent her from being an open flirt with boys, however.
Ever since returning from the future, Simca's personality transforms dramatically compared to her old self when she was younger. She acts much more brooding and serious, and doesn’t find airwalking as enjoyable as she used to. She is much more cold as well, enough to have the personality to threaten someone with death during interrogations. She acts more cold around her friends. She still does deeply care for them, but her behavior has recently started to worry them. However, she still has her compassionate side. Also, she'll still do anything to protect her friends. She has just become a bit more serious lately because the way her future self trained her, her life was on the line in most of her recent duels, it hardened her because there wasn't much for her to enjoy.
She envies beings who can fly, believing that the Sky is the only place one can be free in this world. And she longs for that freedom; a freedom in which she can be good, very good, but when she wants, she can be bad too... but only as bad as she wants to be. And so, she's a Swallow, dangerous, yet beautiful, bad, yet good. She's free.
===PERSONAL BACKGROUND===
Family: Secret
Place of Origin: A farm outside Jump City
History: On a clear, grassy field, a lone hill stood towering above... well... nothing. But still higher than the flat field. And on top of the hill, on the grassy hill, lied a young four year old pink-haired girl, chasing a swallow. But everytime she tried, the swallow flew away. She chased and chased it until she reached the edge of the hill. And she stopped. She could not go any further. She watched the swallow fly away, under the clouds, towards the horizon, free in the wind, to do as it pleased. To be as it pleased.
She sighed sadly, unable to follow the bird. But then her expression changed; she smiled and let out a laugh. Why did she do that? Why did she laugh? Was it so much fun to see your playmate fly away?
But it was no mere coincidence that she was attracted to the sky, it was in her blood, her kindred spirit... was in love with the air.
"Simca?!"
She bolted upright and walked backwards, away from the edge of the hill.
"Coming, Mama!" she yelled, turning around and running towards the source of the first voice, but not before looking back at the swallow, that was now well over the horizon.
"I'll fly with chu one day! I'll be fwee like chu!" she promised in squeaky four-year-old voice.Simca Katapiete was born in the outskirts of Jump City. For her early life she worked in the farm with her parents. Her father, however, caught the flu and died. She worked with her mother on the farm, working her arms until they did not have any feel in them left anymore, after which she would go in her room and study. But work was not enough, and soon they had to sell the farm animals and land, and move to the city. Her mother got a job as a secretary in the Jump City branch of Wayne Enterprises (how a farm-woman managed such a high-ranking job, no one understands yet) and life started to move on for the better. But it was not enough for Simca. She wanted to be free. To fly in the sky along with the swallows and gulls, hawks and doves. She wanted to sprout wings and be free like the air, traveling where she wanted, whenever she wanted.
Until it became unbearable. On her thirteenth birthday, as careless as her mind was, laughing and smiling, she jumped straight off the edge of her apartment, down to the ground, closing her eyes, with a deep smile on her face. letting the wind brush against her body. It felt... so right.
Pretty soon she realized that she wasn't flying. But still, as if it naturally came to her, she spun her body around horizontally, feet downwards, and stomped on the wind under her. Her inertia was totally negated and she was floating in mid-air... for about three seconds. Then she resumed falling again, but with a few continuous steps and mid-air acrobatics that came to her naturally, she landed gently on the ground.
Since then, her true happiness began. She was free, free to soar through the skies... and fulfill her dream. To touch the sky.
To be free.
By and by, time passed. Her mother passed away when she was 15. Having no one else left to cage her, Simca left school and focused her time on her powers and training martial arts. But she kept the school uniform, simply because she liked it. Taking upon the alias "Swallow", Simca became a teen super-heroine, eventually finding her way as an ally to, and later a member of, the prestigious Teen Titans. She grew to love the group, them actually being her first friends, and was ready to do anything for the team.
Then
it happened.
A strange adventure when most of the Titans were warped into a an alternate future where they met their own future selves. This version of the Teen Titans existed in an alternate timeline wherein the former members of the Teen Titans, now adults, have assumed the roles of their late mentors and have restructured themselves as a Fascist, take-no-prisoners group called 'The Titans'. There, Simca met her future self, and there was a battle, which the young Titans won and fixed the time-line (I don't think details are required).
While all the other Titans were warped Back to the Past, older Simca (codename: Featherlight) took in younger Simca as her apprentice and she stayed behind in the future in order to train for "something big, dark, dangerous and scary that's after you and will stop at nothing to kill you", as Featherlight put it. The older Simca did not tell her younger counterpart what this mysterious villain was, except that it was something that would perhaps be amongst the toughest battles of her super-heroine life.
So, Swallow stayed in the future, changing her last name due to certain reasons she likes to conceal to Simca Rosenbloom, and trained in order to learn the ways to better harness her powers. Two years later, she came back to the time when she should chronologically be still 16 but physically where she is 18 (due to spending two years in the future) and finds the Titans disbanded and attempting to reform.
She takes upon the name Roselight, in combination of her newly trained powers and the alias of her alternate timeline counterpart, Featherlight's code-name, quickly attempting to rejoin the newly forming team of Titans. However, events led to her breaking away from the Titans in their entirety. She found Krious and discovered that her old friend Emblem had turned into one of the most dangerous threats to Jump City since... well, just the biggest threat. When she found the Titans having had disbanded, with several of the original ones missing or having become too busy to pay attention to Jump or their superhero lives, she opted to form a superhero team of her own. By that time, the power vacuum left by the disbanding of the Teen Titans caused the newer heroes of Jump to fill it in, becoming a new Teen Titans and Titans East.
However, by then, Simca had already laid the basis of her own team, and it was too late to go back now. Four heroes came together to form the team known as the
Visoreds Slivers, shards of broken dreams and broken hearts; their seperate ambitions but similar traits keeping them together. Under the leadership of the returned Swallow (who discarded the alias of Roselight), begins the age of the Slivers, a new dawn in the history of Jump City.
