Floor 17: hunting is danger(open)

There are some jobs that just shouldn't be taken. There are other jobs that you can't say no to. This was both of those. He shouldn't have taken this job, if he was even a bit slower he'd be dead. He had been approached by a clan,no problem. Everything had gone fine until he tried to tell them he didn't have time for another job. Then they said that no one could know about this until it got done so they would either have to jail him, not fun, or kill him, even less fun.

So he took the job, thinking it would be nice and easy to make a hunting map and then find this...white stag. He should have known the makers of this game wouldn't half do anything. This stag was proving to be as hard to find as the legends said it would be. He had stopped dashing around hours ago, now he almost had an entire forest mapped. Just in case you didn't read that 'AN ENTIRE FOREST' and this was the only forest it was slated to appear in. He began to think that the stag might have a time based random spawner.

He was pretty sure what they wanted off this deer as it's pelt. It was said to do truly insane amounts of damage protection for leather armor. He hoped he would be able to keep the antlers. They might make for an interesting weapon of he found some high material and with how holly this forest was he wouldn't be surprised if he found an open vein of malachite.

He decided to take a break at a small clearing, it was beautifully designed. There was a small glade in the middle. Flowers every where and bushes making it difficult to find....unless you had been mapping for two hours. Then even he most hidden of places became pretty obvious, even with low level perception.

He laid down in the nice lush grass and stared at the level ceiling.  As much as he didn't hate this world, he couldn't call it a sky. It wasn't a sky. It was a ceiling, beyond it there was another an another and even more after that. It had clouds though, those clouds slowly sent him to sleep.

He awoke with a start, then thanked the heavens he didn't. Across the glade, drinking from the water, was his target. The Stag was easily the size of a draft horse, even a bit bigger even. Ravian carefully and quietly took out his spear and then got into position. The stag raised its head at the charging sound of his sword art; it was too late!

He stuck forward, jumping across the glade and smearing th animal through its shoulder and into it's chest cavity. As he did it two more monsters appeared, spriggons: large creatures made of plants and has a human shape. He smiled, ready to lack up the deer and simply run from the plant people, then the deer's nostrils flared and it reared up, flicking him off. Above it's head read the words 'King of the Forest'  "Mini boss...crap." he wasn't ready for this! He wasn't a front lines fighter! "If anyone is around...help!"

Phoenix was running through the forest, taking down bosses so she could gain levels. She was successful so far and was proud of herself, she would be a pretty good solo player if she wanted too be one. The only down side was that she absolutely loved being around people, so the lack of connections would jack up her style.
As this thought crossed her mind she saw someone laying on the ground, asleep. She peered around a tree to get a closer look at him, he was alone. Phoenix knew that sleeping in a forest like this, all alone, was not a good idea, so she decided to be his temporary guardian angel. Phoenix climbed up a nearby tree and played around with her hair as she made sure nothing happened to the boy down their. It might seem stupid to others, protecting a stranger who could possibly be lethal, but everyone one in here had a life that was worth so much! If you could help save one, why not stop along the way and do so?

She lied on the branch and let her limbs fall off the edge casually. She got bore quick and was getting thirsty. Phoenix climbed down the tree and went over to the nearby stream. She drank some of the water then quickly returned to her post, watching the player peacefully sleep. After a few minutes, Phoenix began to drift away also.
Phoenix dreamed about flying high, away from this game with her crush and her guild. A place far away where no one will hurt them anymore, somewhere only they know. ( )
Phoenix dreamed on for a while until she was awoken by the yelling of a player. She shot up right and looked down to see that her subject was gone. Phoenix freaked out and jumped from tree to tree to find him surrounded by monster and a mini boss.
"FIRE LIGHT!" Phoenix would yell as she shot down from the tree and into one of the spriggon's arms. Her blade was spinning like a screw driver and she was so fast, you couldn't even see her until she landed.
The monster's arm burst into pixels as she landed next to the boy, in fighting stance. "I'm so sorry! I promised to watch you then I fell asleep!" Phoenix asked him with a very innocent voice.

The king of the forest let out a guttural bellow as he stamped his cloven hooves on the ground. His golden eyes locked on the assailant in front of him. His antlers extended as the stag reared once again as it's health meter appeared. It only seemed to be a third of the way down. Ravian was ready for the worst as the two spriggons closed in and the brush around the enclosure thickened, locking in everything inside the circle until after the battle.

Then the unexpected happened.

Someone had actually heard his cry for help?! Ravian watched as the girl jumped down and injured one of his assailants. The other spriggon and the King of the forest took notice of the girl. Ravian took his chance to deal a blow to the other spriggon, slicing it across the chest his his short spear. He scored a hit but narrowly missed the being's claws as it slashed at him. "Thanks for the help!" he yelled as he jumped back and away from another slash.

For the moment the King of the Forest seemed content to watch his minions do all of the fighting. He stood, unwavering, while watching the fight. "And what do you mean watch me in my sleep?!" he said, blocking another blow from his spriggon as he waited for an opening.

Phoenix twirled around and cut off one of the Spriggons legs. She dodged an attack and another attack. She jumped and spiraled out of their reach, she looked like a ballerina. Phoenix landed on it's head and slashed at the back, taking out a great deal of damage. She then back flipped off it and maneuvered her way over to the other player.
He asked her what he meant about watching him in his sleep. "Well, sleeping in a field like this is dangerous. You could lose your life in an instant, so I wanted to watch you to make sure you're okay! Phoenix chimed brightly as she dodged and attack. "I'm Phoenix by the way!" She told him with a grin.

One spriggon down it looked like, it was at least less of a threat now. Ravian started to attack the other one but was quickly intercepted by the King of the Forest charging towards the both of them. It was suddenly made clear that the King of the Forest was more than just your average spawn. He took down the Spriggon in one blow.

Ravian had jumped back just intime but the other monster had not been so lucky, or so well programmed. The Spriggon was impaled on the spot. Antlers cut through the hard woof as though it was just flesh. They pierced all the way through then the King of the Forest threw the corpse over the trees and turned to the two remaining beings in the enclosure. "Well, thanks then. I guess?" he was aware that people could kill you while you were sleeping. That's why he had chosen this out of the way place to sleep.

"Move!" he said as he jumped to the side and slashed at the enemy's side as the giant deer came charging forward with its antlers lowered like the pikes of an army platoon. "Tell ya what, if we both live through this I'll tell you my name" he said, followed by "Dash Strike!" he rushed towards the animal before it could turn around and stabbed it's flank deeply. Ravian smiled for a moment but that faded as he flew backwards. The beast had kicked him square in the stomach, his health dropped into the yellow. "Try not to follow my lead." he said with a strained laugh.

Phoenix dodged another attack and smiled at the other player. "You're so very welcome!" She chimed as she back flipped from punch. She then ran up it's arm and shouted "Phoenix Spark!" causing her Maelstrom Sword to glow orange. She then shot off like a bullet, slashing at it's head four times, removing it and watching burst into pixels.

She turned to see an attack, and jumped out of it's way. Then, Phoenix watched the other player get hit by a monster. She ran to his side and tried to help him up, waiting to strike any monsters that dared to come closer. "Heal up a bit. I'll finish them." Phoenix instructed him as she held her sword firmly in her hand. She suddenly had a different look in her eye, like she had a true mission now.

She sprinted around the monster, too confuse it, and struck it's legs a few times. She whispered "Fire light", which made her sword glow red, and shot off at it's legs. Phoenix removed both of it's legs and back flipped away from an attack, she was in humanly fast.
Phoenix then jumped up to land on the monster and finish it off, but it kicked her into a tree, knocking her health into the red. She had no armor, so a simple mistake like that could cost her her life.

The monster rolled around, allowing her to have some time to regain health, thanks to her crystal heart. "One more blow." She encouraged herself as she stumbled towards the monster, sword in hand.

She wasn't half bad. Not as good as himself of course, but not half bad. He smiled as the beast was nearly taken down. No offense to her, but he had to be the one that took this beast down. He had a contract to look over after all. If he didn't get that item he couldn't be sure that this girl would simply give it to him for free.

He had to deliver the final blow.

"Dash Strike!" he yelled out. Ravian dashed forward and sunk his spear through the neck of the creature before pulling it to the side a bit, then out. The creature disappeared shortly and both the girl's and Ravian's inventory would pop up showing they had gotten some high level venison and The antler hilted sword it was worth a lot, but also seemed like a decent weapon if you could use it. Ravian also got the final strike bonus. It was a bone spear, a long spear, good. If it was a short spear he would have been tempted to keep it. Instead he would just give it to them and buy something nice with the money(which the two warriors also would get a good bit of from the two spriggons and the boss).

"Thanks for the save. I coulda died here....you should probably rest for a while to get your health back up. I doubt this place will respawn in less than a week so we can stick around for a bit...good spot to put on my premium maps though." he said with a smile. He sold several different kinds of maps. Some were just maps, others had spawn points, some would include hidden places like this one. The latter always costed quite a bit. "I guess I can give you a few free maps for your help if you want."
