"Your face, is that your true face?"

???

The Master
Facade - The Masked Man (Needs looked at)) 24o1q8k

===IDENTITY===

Full Name: -Doesn't have a LEGAL name-
Nicknames: -Many-
Codename: Masked
Alias: Facade, among others.
Age: As old as the concept. Also ageless.
Classification: Ethereal Entity
Affiliation: True Neutral

===PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION===

Hair Color: Depends on the mask
Eye Color: Depends on the mask
Height: Depends on the mask
Weight: Depends on the mask
Other Traits: He has no 'physical' form until wearing a mask.

Description: Facade is an ethereal being, a sentient concept. As such he has no physical or tangible form normally on the mortal plane. His masks give him form, each one different. He has no discernible form himself.

The Master, one of his common personas, is a hooded man of possible japanese descent. He stands at about five foot eight, and has a lean but athletic body build. He is clothed from head to toe in black. There is a good chance there's 'nothing' under the mask should it be removed.

===POWERS===

Powers:

  • Ethereal Physiology: As aforementioned above, Facade is more of a sentient concept then an entity of his own. It's unknown what he is the concept of, but typically he has no discernible form. He can exist in the mortal plane, but is limited by how he can interact with it normally. This greatly limits his overall power while remaining in his non-corporeal form. He only displays a very limited number of abilities associated with an ethereal being for reasons unknown.

    • Extra Sensory Perception: A sub-power of his physiology, Facade can while non-corporeal, obtain information without requiring one of his senses. He is only limited by what kind of information he can obtain. He cannot learn the 'identity' of anyone for example. Everything else such as powers, height, weight, etc, IS obtained.

    • Immortal: Self-explanatory.

  • Mask Generation: Facade gets around not being able to interact directly with the mortal plane through the use of powerful, magical masks. Through them, he not only gains a physical form, but he also gains powers linked to that mask. If he wears a superman mask for example, he gains Superman's appearance, powers, and weaknesses. But he's not actually superman. It should be mentioned that typically, each mask bends reality ever so slightly for the wearer. What that simply means is that the mask will convince the wearer they are what they're wearing. If the mask is of someone like Batman, then powers are replaced with equipment.

    Each mask will override his previous one, preventing him from stacking masks in order to gain various powers. The only time he will generate a mask out of thin air, is if his physical body is lost somehow. If he wishes to make more masks, he will need to find materials, but the end result is the same. In addition to the abilities linked to each mask, he can also determine if the mask created will last for a certain period of time, when the mask's effects trigger, and other such effects. Also bare in mind that 'some' masks may not be beneficial.

    • Sub-Masking: A sub-power of Mask Generation, in order to prolong his existence on the mortal plane, Facade resorts to wearing masks OVER his masks. The sub-mask is typically the 'face' of a person, combined with the primary mask to create a believable alias. The Master persona for example, would be the face of a venerated, Japanese man beneath the mask. This is not always the case however, as the removal of the primary mask could reveal ANOTHER mask that then grants him different powers. He can only ever use the abilities of one mask at a time, and is limited by how many he can 'wear' at any one time.

    • Inviso-Mask: Another sub-power of Mask generation. The only difference is the mask he wears is invisible, but still grants him abilities and powers. Perfect for posing as a superhuman!

    Skills:

  • Mask Crafting: Aside from the mask he creates out of thin air, he has a natural knack for creating masks. Even without the powers or abilities they endow the wearer, they are very well made. It is evident that alot of time is spent in making each one, as there's a lot of detail in each one. It's unclear what techniques he uses to make his masks.

  • Intelligent: Facade is an ancient being that has probably been around since the dawn of existence, or maybe before that. He has been around since the beginning, appearing as man, beast and insect. Facade seems to have an intimate knowledge of how humans think, or that's what he claims and he uses this 'knowledge' very effectively. This knowledge MIGHT be from the various lives he's led, helping him to learn to think like a human.

    Weaknesses:
  • Incorporeal Form: As aforementioned, without a mask, he's a whole lot of nothing. The extent he is able to interact with the mortal plane is 'speaking' to the minds of certain people, commonly those with mental issues. Other then that, he can't do ANYTHING until creating a mask. The time it takes to create a new mask depends on how powerful the mask is. The face of a normal person would obviously take less time then the face of say, Superman.

  • Masks: His ability to make masks that grant powers is very dangerous, but each one comes with it's own weakness as mentioned above with Superman. In addition, he can only use the effects of one mask at a time, as the primary mask he wears will override the powers and abilities of any masks beneath it. It is also not that hard to break his masks, as anything outside of a normal person punching him in the face will damage the mask. Generally anything aimed at his face has a chance of removing or breaking the current mask he is wearing.

  • Magic: While it's unknown if magic can do any direct harm to him, it CAN be used to negate the abilities of his masks. Spells designed to counter magic, seal magic, or generally remove other magics, are highly effective in rendering his masks useless.

    Equipment: -prone to changing-

  • Mask of the Master: One of his most common masks, the stern oriental mask of a Japanese crime lord. While wearing it, Facade is a master of martial arts, able to even manipulate chi to certain extents. Through sheer force of will, he can go toe to toe with most superhuman opponents (with exceptions). The weakness of this mask is that outside his martial prowess, it displays no other powers. His henchmen wear similar masks which have similar effects, though naturally less then the Master's Mask. Most people don't even remember what happened to them after the mask is removed.

    More to come...

    ===PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE===

    Personality: For the sake of argument, Facade shall normally be referred to as a HE... unless his physical form is a woman. No one knows what or who Facade is, and he doesn't either. All that matters is that he exists, he creates masks, and interacts with the mortal plane using these masks. The key to understanding him may lie in his masks, or his obsession with them. He has no name, no identity, no self- atleast as far as he knows.

    All that he knows is that man and other living creatures are incredibly interesting. Ever since life began, he has had an unusual obsession with living creatures. Man and other sentient beings, are of an even greater interest to him. His masks are an extension of this obsession, allowing him to not only interact directly with the mortal plane, but also to BECOME. He can gain a name, an identity, a self using his masks. Without a mask, he exists and yet doesn't exist. While he doesn't have a 'true' name, he will still refer to himself as 'Facade' when the word came about.

    Facade's actions are determined by the mask he currently wears. He himself is neither good or evil, but his actions can be either one. This is also evident when he gives someone a mask of their own. What they do with it is up to them, he doesn't do it with some ulterior motive, or atleast it doesn't seem like that. Overall, Facade is an entity that exists and doesn't exist, unable to determine who or what he is.

    Strengths: Intelligent, Masks

    Interests/Habits: Making masks, stealing items of interest, giving his masks to others.

    ===PERSONAL BACKGROUND===

    Family Members: Unknown
    Place of Origin: Unknown
    Current City: Jump City

    History: It is unknown precisely when Facade came to be, or why he came to be. It is possible he was the one that introduced masks to man, but it's impossible to tell. After Masks came about, he could interact with the mortal plane more directly. He could be anything his heart desired, but mostly chose man which was the only thing of interest for him. Animals were interesting to the point of man becoming... intelligent.

    When man began to evolve, Facade's interests in man grew. He is an ancient being and has lived many lives, seen many things, BEEN many things. One could assume that he is older then nearly all of the 'gods' man has worshipped over the decades, perhaps he even pretended to BE these gods.

    This deceptive behavior has continued even after Masks lost their significance in modern society. With time comes more possibilities. What was important to someone in ancient times, is less important with modern conveniences. More diversity among man! His most common persona is that of a ruthless crime lord that runs a well organized organization known simply as "The Brotherhood." Details regarding this group is scarce due to the fact any member caught swears he has no memory of what happened to them since becoming a member.

    On the side, Facade also poses as an information broker among various other personas. It's hard to tell which ones are him, and which are just another person.

    Sample RP -shoop da whoops-
