Information, and an opinion question to all.

Right. I suppose this is the best place to post this as it's also a leave of absence notice. This upcoming Tuesday, I will be leaving on a training cruise until late August. If memory serves, I'll be back in time for my birthday, so I may be busy through August with birthday stuff as my family groups together all of the birthdays close to one another when we come together to celebrate. I will be taking my laptop with me, but there's not exactly much WiFi floating around the Gulf of Mexico, so I'll really only be online during my cruise if I get lucky at a port, and even then it won't be for long.

Anyways, that's the "Information," and now the opinion question.

I've long been considering another character, and I have several that I've been turning around in my head. A good chunk of them I've decided really don't fit the TT universe at all, but there are a few that, with a bit of work, could be adapted quite nicely. I'm curious as to the general opinion on them. They are as follows:

Name: Malich Sazeagu (pronounced MAL-ick SAH-zeegh if that helps)

Best descried as: Paladin/overzealous crusader. Easily mistaken as a villain, but he is a good guy at heart.

Powers (generalized/condensed): Powerful combatant, relies on technology from his time - powered armor that increases his strength, a weaponized mechanical right arm, a mechanical eye that is capable of providing combat intel and seeing in several spectrums, his sword and two different guns - a stockless rifle and a pistol.

Background: (generalized/condensed): Malich is a soldier who has fought almost nonstop in an alternate universe toughly 39000 years in mankind's future. Where he is from, Mankind has spread across the galaxy in a vast, theocratic (Ruled by the church) empire. The alien and the mutant are abhorred, as is anyone who goes against the teachings of the ecclesiarchy, or church. The punishment for heresy is death, and mankind is at constant war with every other alien race, along with their own who have turned from the light of the church and worship darker entities. Malich was dragged into jump city on accident when he disrupted a sorcerer during a demonic ritual.

Future plans: When Malich first arrives in Jump, he will have no idea that he is no longer in his dimension or time period. In his own time, his immense rank allows him to literally do anything he deems necessary, as his rank is second only to the God-Emperor himself, and of course any others of equal rank to himself. Because of this, coupled with the fact that where he is from, any all all alien life forms as well as mutants and psykers(which he would almost certainly mistake any metahumans for) are grave threats to mankind and are attacked on sight, he will likely be deemed a villain until the misunderstanding is resolved. In addition, I don't plan on having him remain a futuretech gunslinger forever considering his weapons are all lethal to the point where he'd have a hard time using them nonlethally. At some point, I'd like him to end up aiding the Lantern CORPS in battle, a fight that will see his ammo drained, and his armor torn and shredded beyond repair. After his recovery in the hospital, he will be offered a place in their numbers thanks to his tremendous reserves of courage and willpower. He will then specialize in creating armor, weapons, and items from his time, but as they are will constructs, he can make them nonlethal as the Lantern CORPS and other heroes "suggest."



Name: Riot

Best described as: A Robin/Red X/Batman type character in that he relies on gadgets instead of superpowers.

Powers (generalized/condensed): Riot's main weapon/defense is also his namesake: A heavily reinforced and customized riot shield. Riot wears a suit of very high tech armor, though it is designed to work with his shield and is limited without it. Riot's weapons and armor were designed for lethal use, but he chooses to use them nonlethally as his moral compass is that of the traditional Robin-esque hero. His shield is attached to his left arm via a special mount on the outside of his forearm. At the push of a button on the inside of his gauntlet, it rotates 90 degrees: Where his arm was perpendicular to the shield, it is now parallel to it, with his fist level with the top of the shield. These two modes are referred to as "Tower" (shield vertical) and "Skirmish." (shield horizontal) Riot's suit was designed never to be without a weapon and has several hidden throughout it. His main right hand weapon is in the form of a twin barreled gun attached to his right forearm, belt fed to his back. Riot's suit uses experimental "zero space" technology that, in a nutshell, allows him to store a nearly unlimited supply of ammunition, however he can only equip four different kinds for any given battle. The most common set he uses are {Rubber bullets - for standard bad guys} {Smoke rounds - with enough fired at a location, they have the same effect as a smoke charge Robin, Batman, Red X, etc might use.} {Adhesive rounds - explode into an adhesive that quickly hardens - used to capture/subdue criminals.} and {High explosive shrapnel rounds - just in case. A last resort, or if his enemy has proven everything else in his arsenal useless.} He also has two blades. A 12 inch parrying blade stored under his right forearm, and a full length knight-esque blade stored along the center of the inside of his riot shield.

Background: (generalized/condensed): The son of a SWAT commander and an active marine, Riot grew up in constant combat training, and even his non immediate family has a long history of nothing but either warfare or police crime fighting. Riot believed he was ready to strike out on his own, inspired by the Teen Titans, and left against his parents' will. All his life, they wanted him to be a killer, but he refuses, and now makes his own life as a hero of Jump city.

Future plans: I'd have him make a name for himself as a freelance hero before he joins one of the crime fighting organizations.

Name:*redacted/erased from existence*

Best described as: A tragic villain forced to do horrible things against his will. - He's also a harlequin type character and is very colorful, festooned with bright purple cloth, bells, and feathers.

Powers(generalized/condensed): Immortal, not by choice, but by curse. Fear: He is a powerful telepath and is capable of trapping victims in a mental world comprised entirely of the most horrible situations imaginable - he feeds off of their despair and terror while they are thus trapped. Though in the physical world, he is no slouch in combat, and wields a wrist mounted blade with surprising skill. Because he is able to affect his opponent's minds, he can also affect what they see. Ie: he may appear to be in front of them, but then they receive a blow from their left, or somewhere else. In addition, he is physically incapable of making any kind of a sound, even objects he affects are silent, and his only method of communication is nonverbal.

Background(generalized/condensed): Once a powerful and wise leader of a sect of a psychic alien race, he mocked Cegorach, the Laughing God, who cursed him to be a roaming killer striking fear into the hearts of all.

Future plans: Basically a high level villain who messes with people's minds. He'd have little to no allies though, as he attacks anything living. Robotic organisms and undead would have an advantage against him in that he couldn't trap them in a mental prison. I may eventually have a story to cleanse him of his curse, but that depends on whether or not he befriends anyone.

Name: Jeriah West

Best described as: A gunslinging outlaw from the wild west. With a modern twist.

Powers(generalized/condensed):Uses a pair of unique revolvers to wreak havoc wherever he goes. Instead of bullets they fire his focused energy, ranging in strength from basically bullets to massive blasts capable of leveling buildings. However bigger blasts mean more energy has to be put in, and Jeriah has a limited supply, so he usually settles for lower strength blasts unless he deems necessary. He's a crack shot with either hand though, so even lower level blasts are incredibly dangerous. Though he's arrogant and hot headed, so easy to goad.

Background(generalized/condensed): Raised on old westerns, Jeriah was the black sheep of the family. Unlike his parents, Jeriah hated it when the villain lost. Wanting to prove that the outlaw could be somebody, he set out on his own and devoted himself to becoming the best gunslinger around. After achieving this goal, at least in his own eyes, Jeriah set out to take as much loot as he could carry.

Future plans: This one's basically an excuse to let out my inner cowboy. ^^ You all know everyone's got at least a little cowboy in them somewhere. He'd be a villain who'd be far more willing to team up with others to take down a foe. Either he'd remain freelance or he'd join an evil organization, assuming the pay is good of course.

Personally I like the sound of Malich Sazeagu out of the rest their all awesome but that one stands out to me. Hope you have a good time on your training and birthday.

I really like your character, Riot. I always like the idea of a character that really has no powers other than technology. Also good luck with your cruise/training/birthday

I like Riot and Jeriah West. Those two seem pretty cool to me.

So, so far we have one vote for Malich, two for Riot, and one for Jeriah? Interesting. Well, come Tuesday, I'll likely decide on which character app to start working on, and I'll have it up when I get back. Sorry to necro this topic, but as I'm technically still away I figured this to be the best place rather than start a new leave of absence topic.

Right. Updates. I'm not finished with my cruise yet, however I am back for a short while. There are two tropical storms in close enough proximity to our destinations to pose a threat to our ship, so we're temporarily taking cover in Galveston, Texas. As it stands now, we're here until Friday morning, but we may be here longer or shorter depending on what the storms do. I'll try and get on when I can, but I doubt I'll role play much if at all simply because I don't know when I'm leaving again, or even how often I'll be on between now and then.

Also, I hand wrote an intro for Malich arriving in Jump city, but I've yet to type it. It's pretty long, so I'll likely post it either here or as the sample rp in his profile(assuming I do decide on him, which I'm leaning towards.) Either way, if I am going to rp as Malich, he's going to need someone capable of realizing that he isn't evil and working out the misunderstanding that occurs as a result of him finding himself in such a different place. Any volunteers in that department? 0.o

I volunteer my new(er) character, Valkyrie. She's often mistaken as a villain because she's definitely very physical in her efforts against crime, not to mention that she has no head, dresses in black, and most often only comes out at night. She relies on technology an awfully great deal, too, and has a lot of connections to "specialty" tech, like her paranormally-interfaced helmet. Also, she has a pretty legit God-complex because she's a valkyrie and all, and as of late she's trying to separate herself as much from the "higher-up" as possible. Just an idea, though, of course. Well alright then! I suppose between you and Rainbow, Malich will eventually be seen for the good guy he is! Though remember it won't be easy. Malich has fought against the enemies of Man for nerely two centuries and is haunted by the men and women he's lost. He won't forget his hatred very easily.

I'll get started on his charecter profile, but according to our current plans we're back at sea tomorrow and I've got galley duty again, so it's doubtful I'll be able to get online again before then. I should have wifi again in a week or so, for at least a day, so I'll do my best to get on then. Currently the official cruise end date is September 2nd. However we'll be back in port permanently for class on the 26th, so that's when I'll be back for sure. Sadly it seems I won't be back for my birthday like I originally thought. Ah well. Anyways, next time I get on I should have at least a rough draft of Malich's charecter sheet.

Maybe you could consider going to Steel instead of Jump. Jump is overcrowded with chars, while Steel suffers ._.

Right. We're at anchor outside of Lake Charles, Louisiana right now. I've got cell service and, thanks to tethering from a friend of mine, shaky Internet service. Malichs char sheet is coming together nicely. If I can, I'll post it as a WIP today, but the Captain's up here at the moment so until he leaves my laptop is off limits. As for where Malich goes/appears, how many of the willing perticiapants are in Steel city? He can always move there after appearing in Jump, but I do agree that Steel needs some more chars.

Nikki is in Steel and Sabrina travels from steel to Jump and back all the time. (though right now she's in Jump trying to secretly destroy the titans... Mwa hahahaa..)
