Powers:

Xahara is an entity made purely of cosmic energy. Xahara fused with Carter’s body and mind, mending her into his consciousness and granting him a number of powers:

Cosmic energy projection and manipulation-Carter is able to project Xahara’s energy in a nearly limitless amount of ways. He can project them in the form of beams, separate blasts, shields, bombs, anything he can concentrate on. A common usage for close combat is to compact the energy into his fists and use them like boxing gloves, strengthening his punches or releasing the energy upon impact for a much more powerful attack. Currently, Carter is able to discharge beams and bolts that can punch through steel, a common technique used by Carter is to concentrate energy in front of his hand and project it from that focal point to avoid blow back rather than firing from his hand directly. He can sustain the focal point and channel the energy into it, making them into weapons to fire the blasts from. Any shields or bubbles vary with how much he decides to concentrate on them, his most powerful shield can defend against a blast from 2 pounds of C4, but the shield or bubble would nearly be destroyed afterward.

Invulnerability-There is a constant field around Carter that protects him from damage. It is able to completely block smaller-scale attacks such as those from small firearms. Attacks from those with strength above peak human strength and larger explosives deal a good amount of damage to Carter. This field also defends Carter under extreme conditions such as extreme cold, extreme heat, the conditions of flying at supersonic speeds, and the vacuums of space. The field also works for self-sustenance, the energy converts any chemicals in his body to the material necessary for his survival, even creating oxygen for his body to survive in space and underwater. Under the similar process, the energy causes Carter’s body to produce less fatigue toxins, however he is still limited by his physique. Carter can fight at full strength for an hour before becoming fatigued.

Flight-Carter can project himself forward through the atmosphere by manipulating the cosmic energy. He is able to fly at supersonic speeds but he is unable to attain such speed as the amount of concentration and energy projection required would render him unconscious.

Interlinking consciousness-As a result of the incident, Xahara’s consciousness is fused with Carter’s. This allows her to speak to him through something similar to telepathy. She can also project images only Carter can see with enough concentration. She also gives Carter a new sense, one where he is able to sense extreme uses of several types of energy including cosmic energy, and atomic energy, and many others not known to either of them. She is still working on it, but Xahara estimates she would be able to control Carter’s body while he is unconscious, but she has had no success doing it so far.

Power exhaustion-Without enough concentration and training, Carter is not yet accustomed to using mass amounts of energy at one time or over an extended period of time. Using too much will cause serious damage to him physically and mentally and in severe cases will leave him incapacitated for days.

Magic-Xahara’s cosmic energy has never experienced anything similar to mystic energy so it has no natural immunity toward it, meaning it will blow right through Carter’s invulnerability and deal damage to him as if he had none

Energy drainage-Like any other form of energy, it can be absorbed directly from Carter. Xahara can replace the energy taken, but Carter would most likely be rendered unconscious if enough was taken.

Telepathy-Although not an issue in battle, if a telepath were to link to Carter’s mind, they would become aware of Xahara’s presence and even be able to hear her as she communicates with Carter.

Personality: Carter is a fairly outgoing person. He has no problem expressing himself in front of others and can get along with most people, he likes to make jokes and laugh with friends, but there is always this hazy air about him. He always leaves the feeling like there’s something that he isn’t telling someone, and usually he’s well aware that he’s doing this. While he does get along well with people, he often puts some sort of guard up, keeping people away from something he doesn’t want them near. Carter is unable to hide his evasion of people and it’s made even worse with Xahara’s presence, often feeling awkward and uncomfortable with intimate moments knowing she’s experiencing it as well.

Xahara is tranquil and wise. Xahara’s millennia of existence have given her large air of wisdom. Although she lacks conventional knowledge, experience puts her a large way forward from most species. Not knowing conflict for centuries, Xahara had no initial idea of violence and only learned of it while fused with Carter. Although she finds the concept disgusting, she understands that for some cases it is necessary. Xahara also tries to help Carter in social situations, but interactions with entities such as herself were never as strenuous and she often messes up her advice, because of this Carter often ignores her advice, sometimes he does follow it however but it usually doesn’t end well.

Carter was born to John Marino, a US Air Force pilot, and his wife Nancy Marino. Carter always adored what his father did, he loved that he got to go into the sky on a daily basis. John often took his father to the Hangars whenever he could, Carter always loved seeing the planes when he was a kid. Although the idea of soaring through the sky excited Carter, his dream took him even further. Carter hoped to someday work for NASA and be able to go to space, to go to the moon. He looked up to heroes like Superman and Green Lantern because they were in and out of space so often, but he didn’t idolize them as much as other kids did, he just like that they came from space.

Tragedy struck when John was called in for an emergency when Carter was 10. Carter was scared, his father had never been called into action like that, he knew there was big trouble involved. John reassured him, he left Carter his pilot jacket and told him to keep it safe for him, that he’d get it back from him when he returned, but John never got it back. The call came in, John’s entire squad was shot down, there were no survivors. Like anyone in his position, John was devastated, but being so young and raised the way he was he was stuck in confusion. John wanted to cry, but he knew his dad wanted him to be strong, he was scared of the idea of death, but people reassured him that things were okay. The result was a sort of hazy numbness. Carter always kept the jacket by his side, and eventually he grew into it.

He went about his life the next six years as best as he could, coping with his father’s death and eventually moving on, continuing his studies in astronomy, still wanting to become an astronaut. He was working toward a special program for young adults who aspired to work for NASA. He worked his way through it, fulfilling the requirements, writing the essays, doing all that was necessary to impress those who were providing the scholarships. He was well on his way to a full ride in a prestigious college, until another twist of events in his life. Carter often visited a harbor that his father did, he was never there together with him, it was like his father’s silent thinking time and he could see why his father always went there. All of Carter’s visits were silent, mind-clearing moments of tranquility with a great view across the horizon, but this would be the place where his life changed the most.

Carter stood out late one night at the harbor, thinking to himself. He looked into the sky to find an unforeseen anomaly. He see a purple streak in the night sky, one that he knew for sure wasn’t supposed to be there. He had no idea what it could be, he stared at it for a while. The streak got bigger and bigger, it wouldn’t be too long before he realized it was growing, it was getting closer. The speed at which it traveled grew quick, he got up to flee the scene, but it was too late, the streak erupted into a large wave that hit him directly. He was knocked to the ground and rendered unconscious. He woke up about an hour later, he examined himself, he didn’t seem to take any damage, but he was tired. Realizing it was late, he quickly headed back home.

When he returned home he showered and prepared to go to sleep, until he began to hear a voice. The voice was a woman’s, and it sounded distorted a bit, like an alien in a sci-fi move. It kept calling his name, Carter hoped this was just because he was tired, but he would be wrong. A ghostly purple woman appeared in front of him, Carter immediately retreated to the corner, scared for his life. It spoke to him and explained it wasn’t actually there. Carter always knew that if he heard voice sin his head he really shouldn’t listen, but this time it seemed like the best option. The voiced called itself Xahara and explained where she came from. Xahara was an energy being in the far reaches of space, she existed for millennia, floating through with other beings like her in cosmic dances of everlasting bliss, until one moment where something strange had appeared and swept her away. She lost the ability to maintain any form, being a shapeless energy flying through space. She had also been afraid because, for the brief moments before she was lost, she couldn’t feel the presence of those she knew before. She concluded that crashing into Carter must have merged the two beings, implanting the pure energy of Xahara into the physical being Carter. Lacking any form of spoken language as a cosmic entity, she learned Carter’s language by reaching into his memories, she didn’t really have a choice in the matter.

Carter was shocked, he didn’t really know how to take the news. He had some female being inside of him who also gave him some sort of super powers he couldn’t begin to understand at the moment..that was exactly what he needed. Xahara told Carter that she’d like to find out what happened to her and her “species” but gauged that he was unable to handle her full essence. The ability to fly pretty much sold Carter to the idea of having these powers, but flying beyond even the milky way made it even more worthwhile,he also realized that he could become a superhero like the Green Lanterns and help people, but he knew he couldn’t figure it out by himself. The next year consisted of Carter getting used to Xahara’s presence as well as getting the basics down for his powers. Afterward he donned a costume and a superhero persona, Nebula. He performed small acts of heroism, saving pedestrians from accidents, stopping bank robberies, until he was sure he got the attention of at least some heroes. He continues his work of heroism, aspiring now to join the Titans, hoping they can help him learn to use his powers. He's decided to keep Xahara's presence a secret however.

Carter enjoyed this part of the job just flying freely through the air. He always dreamed doing so in the plane would be amazing enough, but hurling his body through the sky, feeling the wind through his hair, it was much much more than he could ever imagine. It seemed like a pretty peaceful day in the city this time, not much going on. He eyed the streets, looking for even petty crimes to break up. Are you even looking? He heard Xahara’s voice in his head. Of course I’m looking, why wouldn’t I be looking? I know how much you get caught up in the moment when you’re merely flying. Well how would you know if I was spacing out anyway? I’m literally in your head, and you were. She had a point, and it really bothered him that he could have a single thought without her knowing about it, sometimes these powers were really annoying.

A purple arrow pointed downward in his peripheral, Xahara had found something he didn’t. Following instructions he looked down. Several squad cars drove in the same direction, sirens blaring, obviously there was trouble. “Showtime.” Carter followed the cars a few blocks, there were overturned squad cars already at the scene, another bank robbery. Well at least these guys seemed more lethal, there didn’t seem to be a metahuman or high tech armor or anything special, so he figured they were using explosives, and he was right. As soon as the squad cars arrived they met an explosion, it flipped a few cars, derailed the others, and the robbers ran out. They had a lot of guts, also a stolen armored truck to help their escape which they packed with even more armor, nice. They began shooting at the cops with assault rifles, causing them to retreat behind cover. They couldn’t do much more until SWAT arrived, but by then they’d be gone with the cash. There were seven of them, he shouldn’t have much of a problem handling them. He flew toward the group swiftly, kicking one of them into the wall of the bank and knocking him out, coming to a stand. The others stopped firing at the police and looked at Carter in astonishment.

“What the hell? Who are you, Purple man?”

Carter slapped his hand on his face, he wasn’t going to even bother correcting the introduction, it never stuck anyway. They began to fire at him, but it was no use. The bullets bounced right off of him as if there were some sort of invisible shield..it was because there was one. He looked up to see the three of them shooting at him. He flew forward and landed right in the middle of the three. He swung to his sides and knocked the two next to him, one into tone of the squad cars and the other into the bank. He fired a purple beam forward to knock the other robber into the nearest car. He had been satisfied with his work until Xahara brought something to his attention, The others are getting away, Carter. Carter silently chastised himself and took off.

He caught up with the truck, he should stop it before they got too far away from the police. He flew ahead of it and landed a short distance away, the idiots still decided to floor it. Making this quick, Carter charged some energy into his fists and brought them down onto the hood of the truck, discharging the energy with the attack. He felt the engine pretty much die upon impact, the truck itself flipped over him and landed on its wheels behind him. He shook his hands, they burned from the experimental attack, but at least it worked well. He turned around and ripped the back doors off of the truck. The three remaining criminals tried to fire at him, but he quickly discharge three short bursts of energy for each of them, knocking them out. His job was done, the rest was up to the police. He took to the skies again, looking out for any more trouble. That was well done, Carter/ If you say so. Honestly, Carter did feel good about it, but he knew there was much worse out there.

I'll have something up soon

Okay, I'm going to start by saying that even a physically fit human starts to tear his body up at half a ton, and that's serious damage. As in, muscles won't work again because they no longer are attached to your bones damage. And his invulnerablility doesn't cover lifting. We also have a four powers rule, I recommend putting a few together since The stamina and survival could go under invulnerablity. I'll get advice from a more experience mod about the consciousness interlocking. Since that's sorta the reason for all his other powers, or that's what I get so far.

I need a reference for his standard energy blast. A number or example. Same with how much the shield can stop, and whether he can move with the shield. Is it a two way shield? With his invulnerability, this may be more about how I see this, but I'm curious. What about energy projectiles? One of my character can shoot lightning. Another has a anti tank rifle. Would something like that be similar to a punch? Also, even if it kills him, I am quite confident I'll be demodded if I accept a character who could destroy the earth in one blow. Also is this face claims from tenchi muyo?

I started this before you edited speed so I'll get that next time around, it might take a bit (not more than a day or two max) for me to get back. With someone this powerful I need to be all responsible and consult those with more expeirence. Sorry for the inconvenience if it takes longer than expected.

History checks out, but to be clear Xahara is an energy being, she is centuries old, so under a thousand? And she isn't one of a kind. So, in cold environments, do his powers decrease due to higher interference do to pressure, less energy to draw on, the energy being sapped, ECT.?

Eliminated strength as a power period, elaborated some more on energy projection, placed necessary power descriptions under invulnerability, added the weakness of draining Xahara's energy and a more social weakness, decided to make her millennia old instead of centuries(not a big deal but decided toward that) and no, it's not from Tenchi Muyo.

Okay I want to make sure that supersonic is when he's booking it and it's not instant. The human body can't take that kind of acceleration. I would also think that if his shield is destroyed, that would be quite tiring? The stronger energy blasts should also take a moment and as kinetic energy they'll be dodgeable for most?

If any or most of those aren't true I think I'd have to ask for a slightly more accessible weakness that could really stop him. Or perhaps just sone weakness related to his flying since I think he is the fastest flyer on the site. After that, I think were all set. I convinced with other mods, supersonic flight is fine.

Ps this doesn't have to go in your profile but how strong would one need to be to cause "good damage" which I assume is more damage than one would expect from a normal punch.

Edit: upon looking through I saw that "he can fight at full power for hours" that would be super enduance. And given how powerful he is I can't accept that.

No, it isn't instant he would have to be flying continuously for awhile before he could reach the speed. I would say the field protects him during that form of flight but it's not often that he enters supersonic because he has to consciously project energy to fly and it would take a lot of it to fly at supersonic speeds continuously. In short no it isn't instant and he might not even utilize it for a long time. Any stronger form of energy blast takes time to focus the necessary amount of energy and would take a toll after using them continuously, same for shields it takes focus and time to create and going along the same example after that shield was gone he'd start to get tired already.

For invulnerability, any amount of strength above a human's peak physical strength would do good harm to Carter.

Stamina would be lessened to...an hour or two I suppose, depending on how much energy he uses. Continuously using his maximum strength he'd only last close to an hour without also taking hits.
