===POWERS===
Powers:Transformation: At will, Sam can "transform" from a normal human into a armored, insect like form. With this transformation, he gains an assortment of super powers. He can maintain the transformation indefinately, but staying transformed for too long puts a lot of stress on him and his body and wears him out.

Armor Plating: Beetle Knight is covered horn to toe in a coat of blue chitinous armor. The armor is relatively light weight and doesn't restrict his movement too much. It is particularly thick around the head (and,ergo, horn), chest, upper arms, legs and feet. The hardened parts also split off into sharp points and edges on the arms, legs, and fingertips (not to mention the horn). This set of armor gives Beetle a near immunity to light bladed weapons (knives, daggers) and small arms fire. The thicker areas are even more durable, giving protection against heavier caliber firearms and explosions. It can also stand up to super powered blows very well. Lastly, the armor provides insulation and protection against colder temperatures.
Super Strength: The transformation also grants significant strength to Sam, who was a bit stronger than an average teenager already. Beetle can lift over a ton of weight with minimal effort, and up to five tons if he really pushes it. This strength also allows him to make incredible leaps and jumps., being able to reach the tops of small buildings and houses with ease. Obviously, the strength also makes his attacks very strong, too.
Solar Charge: The Ancient Egyptians used the scarab beetle as a symbol for the sun God. Apparently, there's some truth behind that Beetle can syphon and store energy from sunlight, giving him a lot of stamina and energy, which keeps him from tiring during a fight. He can also charge up and release that power as blasts of energy fired from his hands. This takes up a lot of that excess energy, so Beetle is hesitant to use it.
Weaknesses:Transformation: While not transformed, Sam is pretty much a normal person, with none of his powers. He can still fight, but against super powered or highly skilled opponents, he's pretty much screwed.
Night Time: If it's night out when Sam changes to Beetle, there's obviously no sun to call upon for the extra power needed for the Sun Ray Attack. He also can't charge up for extra energy if there's no sun, so he's generally at a disadvantage.
Weak Spots: While his armor coating generaly protects him very well, it does have a few points where it's less thick and easier to damage, mainly the neck, insides of his elbows, and the back of his knees. It's weak there so that the excess bulk of the armor doesn't restrict his motion.

Strengths:Determination: When Sam/Beetle starts something (ie: a fight), he FINISHES it. No matter how hard he's hit, he'll keep on getting up to fight back. He just will not stop fighting.
Bravery: Likewise, no matter the odds, Beetle will go and fight for what he thinks is right. This can be mistaken for stubbornness, foolhardiness, or even stupidity in some situation, but this is just because Beetle has faith in himself and his allies.
Skills:-Fighter: Sam is a rather accomplished fighter, having taken karate classes since he was 6. He also knows some Judo, and throws (pun not intended) some of that knowledge into his fighting style. He also knows more than a few professional wrestling moves, and often uses them in his transformed state, since he is very strong in that form.
-Walking Encyclopedia: As a boy, Sam hung around with his archaeologist grandfather a lot, and picked up a lot of knowledge from him. A lot of it can just seem like random trivia or general knowledge, but you never know when something that seems pointless like that might be helpful.
-Balancing Act: Sam has an extraordinary sense of balance, possibly due to years of martial arts classes. It's extremely hard for him to lose balance, whether it's on his feet or on his bike.

Habits/Quirks:-Beetle Knight is a very noisy fighter, prone to yelling, grunting, and shouting names for his attacks. It's just part of the way he fights, and how he shows off sometimes.
Personality:Sam is normally an outgoing and friendly young man, but he can seem rather mellow and a bit too relaxed about things. It may seem like he doesn't care at first glance, but that's just because he has a lot of self discipline and is really good at keeping his emotions and actions in check. However, that doesn't he doesn't have them or doesn't care about things. It's quite the opposite, and Sam just knows the right time and place for such things. He's very smart (especially when it comes to history) and skilled, but isn't one to brag about it.
When Sam transforms into Beetle Knight, his personality changes. He goes fom quiet and reserved to loud and hot blooded. He goes from being modest to being a show off and a bit of a braggart. It's not quite clear whether it's the armor itself that brings about this change, or if it's just the powers the armor has combined with the anonimity it gives Sam getting to his head and letting him cut lose for once. Either way, Beetle Knight still retains all the good aspects of Sam's personality as well. He's still a nice guy, he's just...not as quiet or subtle about it.

History:Sam was born in Jump City, and raised by his mother and father. His Grandfather, who was an archaeologist at one of the universities in Jump City also played an important role in his early life as well, giving him his love of history and travel. He also started takng martial arts classes at a young age and they became another passion of his. Despite these things, Sam's life was relatively boring.
That all changed one day. The Jump City Museum called his grandfather and asked him for his help in identifying a strange artifact they had found in an excavation site in Egypt. Sam overheard the conversation and was naturally curious, so he asked his grandfather if he could join him. His grandpa said yes, and the two departed for the museum.
When they arrived, the museum staff escorted the two to the area where they had the aformentioned strange artifact stored. It was an ornate scarab medallion carved of bronze rusted with age held in carved wooden box. Sam and his grandfather were understandably confused at why this was such a big deal. Then they opened the curtains on the windows, letting the sun shine on the beetle, the rust faded away and it shined a bright blue. And THEN they got it.
Sam remained with his grandfather for the rest of the day and a good portion of the night as he examined the artifact. Nothing about it made sense; the carvings were too precise for it's age, the material was unknown, and there was no concievable explanation for it's reaction with the sun. It puzzled and frustrated the man who had devoted his life to the study of such things. While the two were examining the artifact, there was a break in at the museum. On the surface, that was nothing unusual about that for Jump City. It was full of super powered criminals, and a museum, by definition, is full of rare and/or valuable things. But this was different; the would-be thieves were on a direct course for the room where the scarab was being held.
Thinking quickly, Grandpa Angus deivsed a plan. He gave Sam the scarab, and he took the box, and instructed the boy to split up. The intruders clearly knew what they wanted, and where it was, so their only chance was to trick them on both accounts. Sam ran one way with the scarab in his pocket, and his Grandpa another, with the box.
The theives found Angus first, but Sam wasn't far away. He was up a floor on a balcony above them, and the thieves had their guns aimed at Angus, telling him to give them the box. Sam knew they wouldn't be pleased when they opened the box and found nothing inside. And if that happened, it'd be all over for his grandfather. Sam knew there was one thing he could do...but it'd probably get himself killed in the process. But Sam disregarded that, and jumped off the balcony with a kick aimed at one of the thieves just as they were opening the box.
In mid-air, something happened. The scarab in Sam's pocket glowed again with power, covering him in chitinous blue armor. The kick connected, sending the thief flying across the room. The other men quickly recieved a similar beatdown. With the theives beaten, the police soon arrived and apprehended them. Sam transformed back and discovered the scarab was gone. Discussing this with his Grandfather, the two came to the conclusion that the artifact was some item that bestowed immense power upon those it deemed worthy... and Sam's act of bravery was proof enough for it.
Not wanting to disappoint who or whatever gifted him with these powers, Sam went into superheroism, becoming a warrior of justice: Beetle Knight.
