[ Prologue ]

"How did it come to this? Staring at the remains of a once living and breathing organism, a human being just like you and me. It's life, it's very exsitence taken by my very own hands. How could I let this happen, how I can even call myself a hero afterwards, and most of all...Am I really the one to blame?...*Sigh* Let me start from the beginning. It all started when a politician went ill in Steel City, Fredrick Dukes was his name. He had been stirring up quite a bit of trouble too, claiming that Powers was to blame for Steel City's current predicament and that if he was elected Mayor he would clean this place up and rid it of it's gangs. Now of course this didn't make him the most popular kid on the playground. Nine assassination attempts in the last month ALONE. All failed and all close calls for Freddy. A couple of security guards paid the price to, but hey, if you want to change the world you have to beat it back first right? Well once ol' Fred had that heart attack and ended up in Mineralmed Hospital it didn't take a brain surgen to know that if Powers or another cime family planned to strike. NOW would definitely be the time. That's where I come in. Knowing that Dukes would be dead by the end of the night if left unguarded I traveled to Mineralmed to keep an eye on him. During the stake out things seemed quiet enough and his security looked air tight, maybe I could've just gone home, maybe I was wrong and the authorities actually did have this one under control. Maybe in another life, a different city, and with better luck...I could've been right..."

[ Scene Begins ]

It was late in the nighttime at Mineralmed Hospital and security detail was climbing all over the place. For the most part, however, it was quiet. A few emergency patients were brought in here and there, but being so late an hour for the most part there was silence. In that silence a certain Super-Heroine reveled, Lizandra Rineheart, or better yet known as Spider-Girl could be seen in the shadows only by those with a trained eye sleuthing around the lower levels of the building; checking the front entrance and surveying the streets for any sings of suspicious activity. Her arachnid like powers and abilities making crawling around in dark areas and corners as easy as a fish swims. Meanwhile, Fredrick Duke's personal security is stationed outside the entrances on the roof, at the Hospitals front, and inside as well as outside his room.

(Mind)
"Whelp, it's been about four or five hours now. Still no sign of trouble. Guess Powers and the others finally wised up and realized that Fred here is untouchable. Especially as long as were around. *YAWN* Phew, getting tired. Only about two or more so hours until sunrise maybe We'll just call it a night and head back home."

With that in mind, Liz decided to creep out of the bushes near the side of the front door of the building and around the corner after making sure the coast was clear. She still didn't realize or fully understand or maybe even really cared that she was speaking and thinking in multiples instead of a singular. The symbiotic costume and her were nearly one now. Or the same being entirely, which to her showed their close bond. Throughout the last few weeks or so to a month they had been through A LOT together; gun fights, gang wars, demons, you name it.

[ Switch Scenes ]

Up above the hospital while Lizandra contemplated what she should do next down below, a top of the helicopter pad located on the roof of the building one individual's path was as clear as the red scarf he was wearing. The prop. in itself meant to identify him as a member of the Red-Haired Dragons gang. Since he was wearing a mask the scarf was what he decided to use to show his pride in his faction. The assasin had already made short-work of the men on the roof. Hitting them all with sleeping/poison darts and throwing darts to disarm and discombobulate the men as so there was no sound over the radio when he took each member of the security detail down. Next up was the ground forces, they all also had to go all at once. He couldn't give the armed security in the mark's room any time to scramble. Needing to scout how many men there were excactly on the ground level of the hospital the assasin took out his high-tech scope binoculars and scanned the lower level.

"Crimson Phantom reporting to RHD Base. All hostiles near drop zone have been taken care of and have located mutliple on ground patrol. Permission to engage? Over."

"Yes, dispose of them quickly Phantom and make sure you achieve your objective at ALL costs. You have made us all proud Red-Dragon Warrior, may you achieve victory or fall with honor. Retain radio silence after this transmission. Over."

"Thank you my liege, the honor is mine just to serve. The target will be disposed of, on my life I swear it. Crimson Phantom, over & out."

That being said, the assassin removed his intercom and tossed off the ledge no longer needing it or wanting to leave any traces to his master's. Then from around his waist the Dragon warrior unbuckled about six or so grenades, holding three in each hand he instantly dispersed the egg shaped explosives down to the ground below. The pin for each of them still attached to his finger tips. His aim had been precise as each grenade seemed to endlessly drift from the top of the tall structure to the unknowing defenders of the righteous politician below, including Spider-Girl, who although was not scene by the assaisn as of yet was still in the blast radius.

(Mind)
"HUH, hey that's weird? Spider-Senses are blowing off the charts right n---"

Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow, But What About Tomorrow? 15200511

BOOoOOOooOOM!!!

The explosions were loud from the impact of the multiple grenades and instantly vaporized anything within a six to seven foot radius of them as well as knocking over or at the least moving things within a fourteen foot radius. Luckily, Spider-Girl hadn't been THAT close so she just got a little bit of the shockwaves, but unfortunately for Fred's security detail...Well, lets just say they're beones, flesh, and ligaments now decorated the entire vicinity outside the hospital. Liz watched on in horror as she saw some of the charred corpses of what used to be men just moments ago. Lying there in ruin, smoldering, and as she feasted her eyes upon the gruesome scene trying to feel the same resentment for death as usual she found her feeling of remorse was..Gone? No, the feeling she felt now was---was anger!? She was pissed!! Whoever did this had made her fail in protecting the people, made her fail, yet again, to fulfill her heroic vows, and that fact all it did was enthrall her. The one responsible was going to pay, and pay dearly.

"Ok, where are you?"

Is all that Liz would say as she ran into the open now from the shadows from which she used for cover before and tried to search for the perpitraitor of the horrific incident incident. Eventually catching sight of a figure of a man with a red scarf placing plastique detonators or something to that affect on the window of the Politicians bedroom up above. It would appear he had free-hand scaled down the side of the building and his only support keeping him from falling to his death was his own pure grip and balance. Good, that made him more of an easy target since his mobility seemed somewhat limited. Although, the ridges on the hospital, narrow they may be, were slightly wide enough for a good acrobat to ledge walk fairly easily.

(Mind)
"We found you."

Spider-Girl had to move quickly if she wanted to stop this guy before he detonated the explosives and he was working pretty fast. He had scaled down the side of the sky scraper rather easily and knew exactly which room his target was in. That let Liz know he was definitely a professional and good at that. She would have to use the element of surprise for a quick take down if she wanted to avoid a fight. Luckily, the Assasin was only hanging from the ledge of said said window above his target's, a feat. she would commonly do with her wall-crawling. Either this guy had a lot of guts or he wasn't really too afraid of death. Whatever the case, he was going to fear Spider-Girl today. Shooting a web-line as high up the structure as she could muter without him seeing her. Liz scaled half way up the hospital in seconds. Even this wasn't quick enough, however, the hitman looked like he was already about to detonate the charges. Clmibing back up the wall now to get out of the blast zone. Spider-Girl realized she had to do something, something now, and something quick if she was going to stop him in time! Then almost as if the suit was reading her mind again, because it probably was, her right arm lifted up and shot multiple amounts of spot on black web-slime fluid filled pellets at the Red-Dragon Assasin. A normal man might not have seen this coming, but this guy..He was a pro. It was like his ears and senses were in tune with nature, for as soon as he heard the zip from the balls of webbing flying through the air approach him he moved out of the way dodging the first one and then ducked the second. However, the third hit his hand with the detonator in it. Mucking up the Crimson Phantom's fingers in black goopy webbing thus making it impossible for him to press down on the detonator.

"Nice trick little girl, but you're webbing will not stop me---!!!"

No sooner had he avoided the other web-balls, but got struck on the hand with the third would he realize excactly what the material was and who he was dealing with at the moment. Spider-Girl. The webbing was a very big tip off, not to mention she had been messing with the families and gangs in Steel for a months now. What a treat, today the Crimson Phantom could kill two bugs with one bullet. Dropping down to the side of one of the crevices or rather ledges on the building the Phantom reached for his firearm located in the holster on his leg while at the same time trying to maintain his balance. A drop from forty-eight feet up would definitely end this mission in disaster for him. Sadly, before he could even aim his weapon at his new foe Liz was already in his face and tackled the man off the ledge at blinding speeds as if she had momentarily achieved flight. Which would be a somewhat correct assumption, for you see right after firing the web-balls Spider-Girl shot two web lines on the side of the building at a thiry degree angle each way and then connected them at the back while backing up as fast as she could. This created a sort of elastic affect with her webbing or better yet a sling shot! After she felt she had judged her trajectory well enough she let go of her footing on the side of the hospital and was instantly launched the rest of the length between her and the Red-Haired Dragon gang member thus leading to grabbing and takcling him off the side of the ledge and causing them both to go plummeting towards the ground below. A mid-air struggle taking place as they fought on the way down. Liz's strength got the better of the man, however, allowing her to retrieve the detonator from his palm by yanking and ripping it, and the webbing connected to it, from his grasp.

"We'll take that!"

Spoiler:
The momentary lapse after grabbing the device gave the Crimson warrior all the room he needed, however, to launch a counter attack. Using booth legs to mule kick Liz away with stunning force as he raised them up to his chest. He then initiate a full somersault in mid air and after it's completion revealed had had now also drawn his second gun from it's holster and unloaded on the teen hero with ruthless trigger happy intent. Spider-Girl on the other hand having had extra force added to her descent from that kick was now plummeting at a faster rate below him. The hailstorm of bullets the suit took care of by forming a shield out of the symbiotic material on her right arm, but the falling to her death problem the girl had to fix herslef. Shooting a web-line at the side of the building her rapid descent was slowed saving her from the drop just ten to fifteen feet or so from the ground.

"A little close for comfort, but beggars can't be choosers."

As soon as the Crimson Phantom saw the girl slowing her descent with a web-line, he quickly put one of his pistols away while continuing to unleash cover fire with the other one and yanked out his grappling hook from his back. Firing it upwards it hooked just about a story from his target's window. Retracting it instantly it would appear that the whiplash effect from him falling and then rising had almost no affect on the soldier and if it did he didn't show it. Spider-Girl seeing that the perp. was still pursuing Dukes knew that this was far from over. After crushing the charge he was going to use to blow up the entire apartment sized room in her palm. Liz lunged back up the side of the hospital almost a stunning twenty feet before catching the side of a ledge and wall-crawling the rest of the way. The Phantom had already made his way into the room, however, by shooting out the window and judging by the nosies of screaming men inside, the security detail was having less luck than she was in stopping him. When she finally reached the window of Fredrick's room the body of a man came sailing out of it with his head chopped clean off. That was a definite sign for her to hurry and get in there! A fact proven for no sooner did she pull herself up onto the window sill in a corcuhed position would she see more bodies of dead men all about the floor and the Assasin about to kill Dukes with a bullet to the temple.

"NO!"

Is all Spider-Girl would really have time to yell out as she instantly shot a web-line at the side of the assailants wrist who was standing next to Fred drenched in the blood of his victims with his katana in one hand and his firearm in the other pointed directly at the politicians forehead. Ol' Freddy might've changed his mind about his position on Steel City's politics had he been awake for all this, but luckily or unlucky for him he was sedated. In any case this time it would seem luck was definitely on his side for when the Phantom pulled the trigger the bullet exited the barrel and flew through the side wall of the room next to Liz. The girl having yanked on her web-line a fraction of a second eariler moving Crimson's wrist out of the way of Fred and towards her direction instead. Then before he could pull the trigger again Liz yanked on her webbing once again pulling the assassin towards her, which in hind sight might have been BAD idea. For as he fast approached he would take multiple swings at her with his blade. Liz shucking and jiving to avoid each swipe then countering with a kick of her own, which knocked the felon's gun out of his hand and out the window, but opened her up for a left hook from his hand with the samurai sword in it. Crafty, he knew she was expecting strokes, but a quick jab could surprise her. The hard, cold, steel handle of his sword definitely adding some umph to his shot as Spidey tumbled across the room and onto the tile flooring next to Fredrick's bed. Luckily again for ol' Freddy she recovered just in time to save him from a deadly blow from the Phantom's weapon by toe kicking his stretcher like bed out of the way just in time and causing the assassin's blade to spark as it hit nothing but the ground.

"You're starting to really bug me."

Infuriated now the swordsman let loose after letting out a rage-filled battle cry. Attempting a vetrtical swipe at Liz's head, which she leaned and turned to avoid and then evaded a body blow by leaping up sort of like a ballerina...

"Oh, that's original, it's not like we've ever heard that crack before.

...Spider-Girl sarcastically joked after avoiding the previous attempt to skewer her and landed next to a cart with a food tray on it. Thinking quickly she grabbed hold of it and tossed all the pastries on the silverware into the villain's face before he could attmept another swing and immediaely swatted him with it afterwards while distracted. A clunking sound emitting after his thick skull dented the surface of the pan. Then parlayed another, yet wild, swipe of his blade with the metal food tray before launching a fist in his face with a counter shot of her own. The force behind the blow was pulled of course, but since she was still rather angry at him for killing all those men not as much as usual. The hit in itself caused him to go soaring into the same wall that the stray bullet from his pistol penetrated eariler by the window. As he made contact with it the Crimson Phantom's body-frame nearly shattered the entire dry wall surface. As he staggered back up to his feet he yanked out his second pistol and pointed it at the slowly approaching Spider-Girl.

"Give up, you lost. Now put the gun down before you get hurt some more. This is over."

The Red-Haried Dragon had a choice now...He could pull the trigger and try to shoot the girl, but of course the question was could she dodge the bullet or would she just defend herself? No, he knew there was only one option at this point.

"*Pant, Pant* The difference between you and I, Spider-Girl, is that you presume that once the opponent is defeated the battle is over. But you see, I need not defeat you or to even live to achieve victory here...I need only to kill him."

Suddenly Phatnom turned his weapon from the girl and pointed it at Fredrick Dukes again in one quick movement. As Spider-Girl saw this her Spider-Sense, which had already been active this whole time, slowed down real-time to nearly a stand still. She could hear the heart beats of everyone else in the room...Even her own. Her options came to her quick and varied in difficulty. She could attempt to leap in the way of the bullet or she could try to yank him out of the way again and Fred to, but in each outcome she came up with she would most likely fail or be killed. Then suddenly the soultion came to her as if she knew what she had to do all along, without even moving her arms in real-time the black suit once again hoisted up her palms and shot forwardth a web-ball directly into the man's chest. The impact from the webbing sending him soaring through the open window and out to his doom. Lizandra realizing what she had just done directly afterwards tried to run to the window to attempt to save him, but by the time she had reached it was too late. She almost couldn't believe her eyes, in fact she couldn't. Why did she even hesitate after seeing him fall? She had now commited the most haynous crime she could've ever imagined. Call it what you want, a reaction, the only way she could've stopped him, what needed to be done, a mistake, a reflex, whatever...She had ended the life of another human being! Whether she meant to or not was not the issue here, the question was why she had done it? As Liz contemplated this she contiuned to stare out of the window of the hospital room like a never ending abyss. Deep, down, down into the depths of her own soul...

[ Switch Scenes ]

"Oh my gosh, Mr. Dukes sir, are you alright!? Please be alright!"

Suddenly from down the hallway nurses and other secutrity detail that had gone down below to check out the aftermath of the explosions outside were sent into a frezny after seeing a headless body sail out of the politicians room and land next to them. Fearing the worst they made their way back up to him, but when they arrived found evidence of a struggle, but no one was there. Just Fredrick still fast asleep in his bed and outside the window the gruesome sight of a soul lost. Spider-Girl on the other hand had left moments before heading to the only place she thought she could find salvation for the act she had just commited...A church. After reaching her destination by way of web-slinging she sat under the bell tower and cried. She cried for hours in fact. Then as if the skies themselves felt her anguish...It Started to rain. The downpour of droplets meant nothing to her, however, the only thing she could think of right now was what was going through her head at THAT moment. That moment when she had to make a decision on who's life was more important in that room. Why would she ever do something like that? What was she thinking!?

.........

Unless, those weren't her thoughts. The realization coming to her now that she was mad and the symbiote feeds off her emotion. The more she thought about it, the more she realized the symbiote had been enhancing all of her emotions as of late, which in battle made her become something that she never thought she could be...Ruthless. Yes, many accounts of her less than good deeds as of late ran through her mind as a shocking revolution became apparent to her.

"I need to get rid of it..."

She sat there in dead silence for a second after speaking these words, as a singular entity too. It wasn't that she disliked the suit anymore, but she realized now that it wa too great a weapon for her. She HAD to get rid of it or else who knows what else she might do or be capable of. As if sensing Lizandra's thoughts the suit began to squirm trying to convince her that what happened wasn't her fault and was the only way, but Liz was strong in her moral conviction and began the process of ripping off the symbiotic alien material. The substance almost seeming like it was screaming as she tore and pulled at it as much as she could. The task proved harder than she thought too. In fact, it seemed like it was almost draining her to do so. For every piece she removed it seemed like several more would form, and for every piece she pried from her body it was almost as if she was taking apart some of her own life force. Like she was destroying herself, this person she had become slowly dieing with each tear and each piece ripped away. The struggle eventually causing her to hit the church bell and trigger the substances weakness to sound as it suddenly seemed to take shape and whail out from her body. This was all the opening Liz needed to continue to rip off the creature until there was nothing left of it on her body....Naked and tired now, Liz just laid there on the church roof as the bell rang a new beginning for her. The dark matter, however, seeped away from her; hurt, rejected, and vengeful it would escape it's host into the nooks and crannies of the building until it could reconnect with another.

[ Endlogue ]

"And that was the last time I saw the symbiote, the next day I searched for hours trying to re-locate it, but...I couldn't find any traces of it. It's too dangerous to let roam around freely and I'll continue looking, but...Well...None of us really know what tomorrow brings. All we can be sure of really is what happened yesterday and that well always use today to either repeat or stray from the past."

OT: Uhh so how'd I do? lol Not that I need accolades or any type of recognition when I post stuff like this, but I do also appreciate feedback on my stories even though in some cases people don't appreciate posts in END roleplays. So if anyone has a critique or message for me I'd love to hear it because I do work pretty hard on these longer than usual roleplays. This particular one I spent about five hours working on. 1 to think of entire story and plot points, 1 to write, 1 to revise thoroughly, 1 to edit in any parts I missed, and the last just adding in words/spell checking and coding. So I guess what I'm saying is constructive criticism welcomed and gratified. Very Happy

OT2: Also to Simca you can continue off this topic if you want or make a new thread?
