Alyss narrowed her eyes and walked forwards. "I already saw it in your head, so don't worry." she said, walking ahead of him, annoyed.
She glared down at the floor and tried to keep her anger under control. Fear was cackling inside her head. As if he would like you anyway! she laughed.
Alyss shook her head and walked faster ahead of him.

Xzuk simply slapped his hand to his forehead.

I need a mental block!...

He checked his wallet to be sure they had enough to stay places on the way. He didn't care for benches too much...

670$ should be enough if the rooms are only 120$ a night...

"I'm sorry.... I just didn't want to leave without saying goodbye."

Alyss formed a shadow and it passed her a wallet. She flicked through it and tossed Xzuk three credit cards.
"Think nothing of it. Here." she looked at him. "My daddy was well off. He died a couple years back, I inherited a lot."
She turned to him and sighed. "And by a lot I mean about....um, 2 and a half million?" she said. "How else do you think I live? I have no home."

She sighed and started walking off again. "How far is it?"

Gah... he'd messed up...

"It's about a two day walk."

He threw her back the wallet.

"I don't need this. They pay me to be a Titan. You keep it. If you don't have a steady income then you'll need your money."

Alyss nodded and the shadow took the wallet back and disappeared.
"Yeah, money is helpful in this day and age." she said, scowling. She walked ahead of him, still irritated. Not with him, but with herself and more with Fear who was still laughing in her head. She slammed her hand into her head. "SHUT UP!"

"Ouch! Easy! That's where your cut is smart one!"

Xzuk was a bit worried now... he wasn't talking... was Fear back again?

"Are you feeling okay?"

They were just starting the walk from Titans Tower and already she was mad at him..

Alyss winced slightly but she sighed. "Yeah, I'm fine. Fear's just being irritating. I'm not made at you, not really, anyway." she said, smiling gently.
She looked down at her feet and watched where she was walking. "I am going to kill myself walking one day."

" I suppose it could happen... but only if it's a really tall staircase. That has a sign at the top that says 'don't trip' ... and there isn't a railing."

He smiled jokingly and began singing an old Beatles song in his head.

This was going to be a long walk... then all his thoughts were interrupted as he looked down and saw his fingernails were pitch black.

This hasn't happened since... Oh shit.

He decided not to announce anything just yet... he could be wrong...

Alyss looked at Xzuk worriedly. "Mate, you still need that mind block. What's wrong?" she asked.

"I need you to promise me four things."

He thought them rather than say them.

If I tell you to run, you run.

If I tell you to hide, you run.

If I ask for your help, ignore me.

If I tell you to attack, no matter what it is, attack.

Xzuk kept walking at a normal pace. That son of a bitch knew better than to fight in the city... Xzuk had an advantage here...

Alyss nodded, but looked confused. "Xzuk, you're sketching me out. What's going on?" she asked, nervously.

"You let me deal with that ok?"

He smiled and began walking again.

Then a voice penetrated his thoughts.

You'd best watch your back. Because the next time you look... I'll be chewin' on it.

"Deadzone..."

Alyss yelped a little and held her head. "What was that?! It was so loud!"
She looked around wildly. "Who said that?"

"You'll be meeting him soon enough. He's my polar opposite."

Xzuk picked up his pace. he wanted to be out of the city before nightfall. If they fought at night, there's no way that Alyss would maintain control over Fear.

"I thought I mentioned him?"

Alyss looked at him confused. "Is that why we're moving out of the city? Because he's coming?"
