It was middle night, no life about the streets, no cars moving to and fro on the road. A soft mist covered the clean streets, the smell of sea water in the air. The streets were lit dimly by the street lamps. The stores were all closed on this Sunday night. Two happy couples walked on the sidewalk, smiling and holding their hands like two pilgrims in prayer. They were talking, softly, discussing the daily events that came to be. First was their date, they had just came out of a movie, which they were talking about how great the actors were. Then came a soft groan from the distance. The girlfriend looked at her love, asking him if it was him. He shook his head, denning any such noise that came out of his mouth. A moving shadow came through the mist. The shadow slowly formed into a solid figure, it's glowing green skin illuminating the mist. The strange thing was thin, it's mouth drooling form the sight of warm flesh. The girlfriend screamed as she saw the ghoul. The boyfriend quickly ran, still holding his lover's hand.

Then five more came out, non glowing ghouls. They blocked the couples path, not letting them escape. Each one was more gruesome then the other. The boyfriend, as a last act of love, ran towards the ghouls, distracting them as his love ran away. The ghouls surrounded him, at first attempting to consume him, but then the glowing one yelled. The glowing ghoul charged at him, biting down on his neck and ripping a chunk of flesh. The man grabbed onto his neck, slowly dieing as the wound bled.

From above, if you were flying over the city, you could see that the streets were filled with ghouls. Their infestation spreading like wildfire.

The normal ghouls paid no attention to Kaiser, their minds as mushy as a marshmellow. It was until the glowing one hissed and looked up that they others noticed. The glowing one went over to two slightly taller ghouls, their apparel like business men. The two looked up and hissed, running towards the building and up it.

They came to the top, their hissing loud, jumping off the edge and landing behind Kaiser. They charged towards him, not caring who he was. The glowing one quickly hid in cover, ordering the brainless monsters to search for new flesh.

The boyfriend slowly got up from his deathground. He looked around, not sure what had happened. His mind spoke softly, "Mika". That was his name, Mika Vedov. His skin was pale, the wound not oozing any blood. He slowly walked around, not sure what was happening.

Fake smirked as the ghouls charged. “Wait for it...” he whispered. “Wait for it... NOW!” Kaiser snapped his fingers and vanished in a cloud of darkness, just a second later appeared in front of the already terrorized girlfriend, and the next had teleported her to where he once sat––which also happened to be where the ghouls were. Kaiser’s blood red eyes looked on with satisfaction. “Not bad on time, but I’m sure I can do better.”

The cold night air was penetrated with a blood-curdling scream as the girl fell victim to the ghouls that had dared take a chance with Fake, the master and obedient servant of darkness.

“In the shadow of Mitternacht, a man with eyes the color of blood and the merciless, unforgiving chainsaw scythe he wielded hunted the innocent and most holy of beings, lusting for ruby to pour out of human’s hearts and savoring the meal to come...”

And so was the oh-so-terrifying, scarring, horrific tale giggled about amongst teenagers and adults alike. It was the “local legend” as people called it, but of course, everyone knew it was fake—a hoax meant to scare little kiddies. Oddly enough, it was Fake. He took subtle enjoyment with his hobby, although it was exaggerated; Fake didn’t waste his time preying upon easy prey. A little warm up is a more suiting description.

“Mmm. The boy-lover is lamed, so he wouldn’t be any fun. Perhaps it’s time to mosey on over to Impel Down,” Kaiser sighed. He had a date with an infamous individual’s fate. However, as he strode down the dimly-lit suburban street, Fake realized he was being watched. The character’s bold appearance and choice of weaponry made Kaiser decide to approach him, but also told him to proceed with heightened caution.

“Good night to you, sir. Looks like those ghouls aren’t the only ones celebrating this starless midnight,” he called, making a mental note of who he was conversing with.
