"....."

«««IDENTITY»»»
Codename: Detective Shade
Nickname(s): The Steel Shadow, Mr. Nightmare, The Shade
Age: 21
Race: Human
Alignment: Good
Is this a canon?:N/A

«««PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION»»»

Hair Color: Dark
Eye Color: Grey
Gender: Male
Height:6'3
Weight: 135
Other Traits: The first thing to notice about the Detective is that he is, quite literally, a shade, or at least appears to be. Though clad in apparently typical wear straight out of a noir detective show, his clothing and gear are darkened with a vantablack substance, rendering him into a shadow outline. The only bit of color he has is his two grey eyes, which can render an additional menacing effect whenever they catch the light. His stride tends to be calm, measured, and determined. That said, he does seem to 'talk' more with gestures, and when you've managed to shake him out of his calm state, his body language is very much lively. Perhaps a side effect of his silence.

«««SKILL SET»»»

Main Power Origins: N/A

Powers
N/A

Skills
Martial Arts: Shade is quite a capable fighter, and  seems to be skilled in arnis, defaulting to a baton when his fists or revolvers aren't fitting for the task at hand. He also seems to have mixed in a pinch of boxing and judo.

Marksman: Shade is a excellent shot, and is quite capable of using two pistols at once, making him a absolute menace with his revolvers. Though his chosen firearms are old fashioned, to say the least, he's worked very hard to make them a match for any energy pistol, including increasing his reload time by a startling amount, speed loaders or no.

Detective: Shade's a natural at detective work, allowing him to find clues and track crimes particularly well.

Abilities
Won't Quit: Though Shade is only a standard human, with all the frailties that implies, he's also surprisingly tough, getting back up from impacts that'd put your average citizen on the ground and make them stay there. Though part of this can be explained by his determination, it's still impressive how much damage he can soak in.

Strong: He's not quite at peak human strength yet, but he's trained himself to pack a nasty punch.

Hair-Trigger: His reflexes are very quick, allowing him to react to things that'd catch most standard guys flat-flooted.

Sharp Eyes, Sharp Mind: His senses are also quite keen for a human, allowing him to pick up on various things that might normally be missed. As you might imagine, this goes hand in hand with his reflexes, and also greatly aids his detective work.

Stealthy: He's as sneaky as any good detective should be, and this is further enhanced by the way his apparel can fade into deep shadows.

Sign Langauge: He is skilled in sign language.

Physical Weaknesses
Human: Despite his equipment and the above traits, and the ghost story he's shrouded himself in, Shade is still human. He can be hurt, and he'll never go throwing cars or running down motorcycles without specialized equipment.

Mute: The same thing that drove him into becoming Detective Shade also robbed him of most of his voice. Though he can speak a little, it's difficult and quite agonizing to do so. This isn't necessarily a weakness, but it does make it quite difficult to shout warnings or anything of that sort.

Mental Weaknesses
Rage: Despite his calm manner, he has a nasty, hidden temper. Once someone manages to light it, it can be supremely distracting.

Stubborn: Though his determination can be a boon, once he gets locked into something it can be hard for him to unfocus from it until he's done. A clever enough opponent can use this to outmaneuver him.

Equipment
The Hammers: Twin Revolvers. Though they look like standard, if abnormally dark, revolvers that you might have found in the hands of a noir detective at first glance, they're actually quite modernized, allowing him to launch various rounds, which are listed below:
Knockers: His goto round, these are a modern, nonlethal round that, instead of a rubber or beanbag bullet, relies instead on concentrated energy. Once fired, they slam into a foe and release a powerful, but relatively safe, burst of eerie green energy that stuns a target for a period of time.
Piercers: Standard 'lead' projectiles, though ones made improved with all of the advances of current tech. He doesn't use these too often, though he occasionally finds use for them when facing nonliving targets.
Bangers: Explosive projectiles, essentially an amped up version of the Knockers. Much like the rounds above, he doesn't use these too often, but they're great for blasting open locked doors or fighting particularly durable threats.

Baton: Though it, much like the rest of his 'visible' gear, looks like a vantablack 1950's police baton, it's made of modern, high grade materials, allowing it to be a surprisingly durable and lightweight weapon, allowing him to wield it with high speed and impact.

Burst Knuckles: Essentially high tech brass knuckles, he can use them as such, or use tech to 'burst' energy on impact, doubling the blows power. That said, the 'burst' mode relies on a battery, and he only use it about seven times before it needs to be recharged.

Armored: Despite the look of his gear, he's armored enough to ensure that, at the very least, pistols or other relatively lightweight firearms of various types don't end his work too soon. The very same vantablack material that renders him into a shade is also a variant of E-Weave, a material that diffuses energy rounds enough to keep the person underneath safe, though it will fail with repeated or heavy enough blasts. The energy weapon variant of kevlar, if you will. And speaking of kevlar, he's also got a layer or two of that, allowing him to defend against leadslingers. He's also covered his face with a ballistic mask that's received the same treatment.

Holo-bracelet: The modern version of a smart watch, it can project a small holoscreen as well as a holo-keyboard, allowing him to communicate when his gestures or sign language isn't quite doing the trick. It can also act as a phone, and has a text-to-speech feature that allows him to 'talk' over the phone.

Zipties: Basic, but good enough for securing standard crooks.

«««CEREBRAL PROFILE»»»

Personality
Shade is a stoic, somewhat menacing figure, though that stoicism fades somewhat when you pick up on his small, expressive gestures. For all the rumors and fear surrounding him, Shade is a young man dedicated to protecting his city, and all the people in it. For all intents and purposes, the innocent have nothing to fear from him, and never will. Despite his menacing air, he's just as protective of young ones as any decent being should be, and attempts to be less frightening for any he comes across.

And, despite his usual stoicism, if you're lucky you might pick up on several of his likes. For example, you might catch him sipping mocha coffee through a straw, or gnawing on a beef stick underneath a slightly raised mask. You might also catch him bobbing his head slightly to music. He also seems to be slightly mischievous, occasionally using his stoic air and various other 'Detective Shade'-ey traits to mess with folks.

«««PERSONAL BACKGROUND»»»

Family Members: Unknown
Place of Origin: Steel City.

History
Long, long ago, way back in the 1950s there lived a detective. This man was one of the best detectives Steel City had seen, and he was dedicated to ending crime. He was doing great at it too. Unfortunately, it was too great, for mob leaders had been inconvenienced enough to decide that an example needed to made. A hit was carried out on this detective, and his crook catching ended. However, gangsters told stories of this detective. They said that dying didn't stop him, and that his shade haunted those too crooked to cling onto humanity. He hunted them, and if they were clever enough to escape or squirm past the law they would...disappear. This is the tale junior gangsters were told, and eventually it faded past them into the common community, eventually becoming a Steel City legend.

However, this legend seems to have recently come to life. For the past few weeks, relatively small time gangs have been found forcibly dismantled. Every time, the police would be called by a unnatural voice that would tell them the location and nature of crime. Every time, the gangsters brought in would rant and rave about the Shade, how he's come back and was hunting criminals down. Rumors have started spreading about this ghost, and small time crooks have started being even warier of shadows. He's only getting started...
