Their own terms. That would be nice. But what sort of 'terms' could mortals bestow upon an entity capable of kidnapping them all at will? Either the culprit was in their personal dimension, or they'd created an entirely new one from scratch. Imposing any kind of limit on such beings would be difficult to say the least.

"A read on him? He's in here?" He was hoping to catch out someone who'd appeared on camera, but hadn't been seen around since. That would have suggested sinister monitor all over. Anything else he could say about the guy was banking against coincidence. Many people had randomly ported into the Tower and outside it. It was nothing particularly damning.

But CAP responded to the request. And he uncovered a relevance all on his own. Files locked and tampered with. Against the knowledge of the system's AI. That was huge. Hugh poured into the files, more skimming than reading. Star Labs were always trouble. But Steel City was an uncommon touch. He almost wished Red Hand was stuck in here with them. His old gang-mate came from Steel City. Might have had something informative to add.

On second thought scratch that. If Red Hand could remember how the place even got the name, it'd be above and beyond his usual cognitive awareness.

"We have our suspect." The new voice sufficiently spooked the sprite (T_T) enough to shift him from the chair and plant his back against the monitors. Lazybones had found them. That could either be very good or very bad. Depending on whether he was the orchestrator they now suspected him of being.

"H-Hello?" So much for meeting on their own terms. Every monitor in the room was suddenly reduced to static, the pixels peeling off the screens. Pix didn't think he could fight his way out of this. But it sure made for a convenient excuse to get the personnel files off the screen if the hoodie guy hadn't seen them yet.

Lazybones' grin widened into an almost cheshire-like grin very akin to a certain short gal in a striped hoodie. "it's rude to talk about someone while they're in the same room ya know," he chuckled, having a cell phone in his hand that he waggled around. Probably had a fail safe to tell him when someone looked at files pertaining to him. Nah he was too lazy to do that. "finding you here saves me time in looking for ya through the monitors," he continued. So that was why he was here.

"he been behaving himself suzy?" He asked with a sincere chuckle.

Suzuki didn't know much about how computers worked, or where the information from a facial scan came from... but CAP saying the information was tampered with made her frown. That meant someone had gone into the system without her knowing and changed things. Her first thought was Greed, but why would Greed be covering for this guy? Now that she thought about it more, wasn't that Hoodie Guy following Greed around when she was cut loose?

"A strong suspect indeed."

Suzuki would agree with Pix, especially considering the guys attachment to the devious Sin - woah. The thought was interrupted by a pop sound and the Hoodie Guy was standing right behind Pix! Suzuki quickly drew a kunai, her eyes already red as she eyed the uninvited intruder.

"I could ask you the same question, stranger. Why have your files in our database been tampered with? What are you hiding from us? Pix may work for HIVE but at least he's an honest criminal. You seem to be shrouded in mystery."

So much for meeting on her terms. How did the Hoodie Guy know they were here? And such strange timing. Suzuki didn't want to believe it was a coincidence...

"pics work for anybody using a camera don't they?" He chuckled, not in the least bit threatened by the single pointy object. He'd already seen her do that anime stuff so really, pulling what amounted to a butter knife on him was very lack luster at this point. "you know, it's not very knife to try and threaten yer friends like that," he added again with a chuckle. It'd been awhile since he had cracked some jokes like this, he'd almost forgotten how good it felt. He'd then just "pop" out of existence and pop back over to the other side of Pix with another pop. "so where were we? oh right- was looking for you Pixie. didn't get to earlier because you had some of yer own problems at the time. but you fancy yerself very clever don't ya?"

Why kidnap a person? Because they had intrinsic value to you. Either another would pay for their relief. Another would listen to commands to ensure their safety. Or you wished to coerce the kidnapee into actions yourself, in a controlled environment. Oh, the fourth option - the kidnapped had raw materials you wanted to acquire for yourself. Such as why Caesar took Quinn.

It seemed unlikely that any one person or group of people would deem this rag-tag collection of souls to be worth points 1 and 2. Yeah there were individuals among them who were so valued. But if it were just about them, kidnapping everyone else would be superfluous. So - that left 3 or 4. Either they were being made to dance to puppet strings, or a monkey wanted their eyes.

Lazybones avoided the questions put to him. Not a comforting sign. He also appeared to have an instantaneous relocation ability. It made Pix flinch. But it seemed the guy was content to talk. For now. Give Pix an inch and he would take a mile.

"Maybe not what you people at Star Labs would call clever. But considering it's people like me who end up using the things that yours put blood, sweat, and tears into building; I'll take my clever any day." The sprite pooled the pixels around the three of them in floating clumps, still black and white, "Is that what this dimension is? Another creation gone awry? Needed the proper kind of clever to solve your gaffs?"

"what you do with their product is not my concern. my job put me outside the office," he said as seriously as one Lazybones could muster right now. He didn't fully fault either of them for being suspicious. He hadn't exactly been forward with information. But he'd probably feel worse if more people had tried looking around for answers to anything. Saved him trouble in the long run he supposed. "but you don't strike me being as tech savy as that red headed kid. maybe your boss will pop up later," he added, giving Pix a knowing look as to who he was referring to. And suddenly he didn't seem quite as nonchalant.

Suzuki was someone who could usually keep her emotions in check, but the way this... interaction was going was really making her grit her teeth. This skull faced stranger was being as vague as he possibly could, it seemed, and honestly Suzuki was lost in it all. She hadn't been in America long enough to have the best grasp on STAR labs, but the tone was bad. With that and the man jumping around like crazy...

Suzuki would cast an illusion on Lazybones, making it seem like she was standing still for a moment as she threw the kunai towards the mans foot... hoping to hurt, but not seriously damage the lead.

"I'm tired of this bush beating game already. If you want something say it. This is your last warning. I'd hate to damage the monitors here, but if you keep this game going I'm sure Rico could fix whatever I break... except maybe you?"

There had been a deliberate reason why he had moved to the other side of Pix. He wanted to also keep an eye on Suzy instead of being in between the two. There was fractions of a second long between him and her, and he could read her body language better. So when she was just... standing still, his own eyes flicked on and started glowing just in time to see her throw, which gave him enough time to just move his foot to the side. He sighed with exasperation and rolled his neck. "eyes try kid. but then you'd also have to explain why you attacked an officer not guilty of anything... apart from taking unscheduled breaks," he said, one of his hands becoming engulfed in a blue, ethereal glow that may remind Suz of her Tsusanoo. The Kunai now in the ground then became engulfed and through motions of his hand, popped out and started to float.

"i ain't the one that tampered with my files. didn't think you'd buy that so i didn't say anything," he shrugged simply, eyes still glowing with a grin on his face.

Boss? Pix knew of only two people who could have fit the description. One was a petty gang banger who had long since ceased to be alive, never-mind his boss. The second he'd only served at arm's length, ever since they'd formally given up their position as HIVE's leader. But it was impossible Lazybones could have meant TIBERIUS. The dinosaur had been very careful who had known he was involved there.

Okay. Not impossible. Blake, Gilda, even Kris. None of them liked him or feared him enough. They could have blabbed. Whether they were believed is a different factor. But they could have easily said something.

One thing was for certain. He didn't share Lazybone's same hope that the alien would show up. Pix had been working against his 'boss' surreptitiously for a long time. California hadn't reverted to US control through natural processes.

The sprite hadn't seen the throw. To him it looked like a kunai just sprouted out the ground. At Lazy's first comment he would respond, "Last I checked, trespass is a crime. And she's a home owner." It may have been a petty and throw-away comment, but chuckles appeared to respond better to erroneous assumptions than straight questions. Maybe he'd claim he was invited. That'd get them somewhere.

It interested Pix that the guy troubled to deny he had anything to do with the files. Why bother? If he didn't care what they thought. "You aren't the one? Fine. Then you know who is the one. Worked through them." He allowed pixels to trickle back down onto the screen the files had been displayed upon, revealing them once more, "That Pun Guy. Eyes see you and the perpetrator have a similar humour. Unless they called you that around the Star Labs water cooler."

He chuckled at Pix's responses. "it'd be pretty cool if more of them did. and suzy's more of a roommate than a home owner. besides, kind of short-sighted to assume everybody chose to come here when the end of the world happened," he pointed out simply. Well, he had socialized enough and had more of an idea of Pix. "by the way... for the record, there were four of us before you all got here. had to get the power back on and everything ourselves. so think what you want but that doesn't change the fact that everyone here does not want to stay here forever."

Suzuki rolled her crimson eyes at all the technicalities of law. Right and wrong was much more simple, and she'd even try to change the tide if if meant standing up for that fact... but for now, the tension left her. She took a breath, but remained on guard. If this Lazybones character wasn't as suspicious as they had originally decided, then what else could be the case?

"Supposing I believe you had nothing to do with the tampered files, it leaves it up in the air as to why anyone would do that... and why just you, and seemingly nobody else. What makes you special in this mystery hackers eyes?"

Though Lazybones hadn't been cleared in her mind yet, her prejudice pulled her thoughts to Greed again. Could the Sin have hacked the system to make someone else look as sketchy as she did? Not to mention Suzuki recalled the hooded mystery person was following Greed around for a while. Perhaps they were off to a bad start?

"Which four were here first? Why haven't they come forward to help?"

Short-sighted? Ah- If- But- You see- What you have to understand, officer- The law didn't care about technicalities. Those could mediate a sentence to something of less severity. But guilty was guilty if someone with the right to do so pressed charges. But it was still a weak claim. Not least because it would have to be brought forward by somebody legally dead.

At least when I'm from... Helter-skelters and roundabouts.

If he was the progenitor of this realm then Lazybones was intent on denying it. That, at least, was better than destroying them. If you really thought about it, exposing the liar in his lie right now could back-fire horribly (O_O). Changing tact might be in order.

Pix himself answered Sukuzi's first question, "W-Well if he's not our hacker. He wouldn't rightly know. Let's drop it. For now." The sprite turned his eyes away from the Titan as he spoke. But the second question he didn't interfere with, "Maybe these other three have also had their files tampered with."

"one's dead... as far as i know," Lazybones flatly replied to Suzuki, in a serious tone on top of that to run the point home. Things he had seen seemed to indicate something else but he did not have enough evidence to label him as anything but dead. "the other is a kid who watched the other- his older brother 'die' before his own eyes and has been kind of a mute lately," he added, his usual chill and laid back tone just very serious. It was kind of disconcerting to see him actually bothered by something. "he's still around. but until adri found him, he'd been just keeping to himself. much like everyone else here," he finished on a sour note.

"it was me, chessa, a big guy named orion, and his lil bro isiah. i don't know why us specifically. the number of people i can think of that would go out of their way to help me i can count on one hand. though... come to think of it," he paused a moment and seemed to ponder something. "any of you remember seeing a dude in black formal attire before finding yourself here? no... nevermind," he pondered and seemingly answered his own question.

Computation sounds would happen as CAP started to sift through the generous amount if information stored within the tower, cross referencing the names mentioned which thank the creator made this easier because even he would not be able to find them otherwise. "Orion Conall Donovan, Codename: Inferno," CAP would intone as a file came up for him. It didn't look tampered with but it didn't seem to be belong to the titans, any law enforcement agency, not even STAR Labs. It was just there. Another file would pop up. "Isiah Flynn Donovan," CAP read it off. Again, it was fine apart from it just... existing in the system without any origination.

"Chessa... AKA: The Cheshire Cat... this one is also tampered with," CAP announced and indeed it was. Like Lazybones, hers was also a STAR Labs. Hers was Lab Tech though.
