| Fox was quickly finding that the modern world was much different than the one he'd known, and a lack of knowledge on all the new things could prove quite a disadvantage to anyone. For a certain purple Kitsune he was determined to make sure that he kept any disadvantages to a minimum. Thus today he had decided to try and teach himself to read this language known as 'English'. After a few quick questions for directions from a few helpful passerby ( so helpful he didn't even pick their pockets! ) he had managed to find his goal for the day, the public library! Of course he didn't tell anyone he was going there today, after all it was embarrassing for him to be unable to read the local language even if he could speak it fine.
Fox entered the library and found the near silence rather pleasant. It certainly was nicer for his sensitive ears than the hustle and bustle of a busy city street. That little bit of relief soon passed however as he noticed the sheer size of the place! Row after row of books as far as he could see in every direction, and several more floors going up as well! He stood there in the doorway, a blank expression on his face... which his little enchantment on his mask mimicked just fine thanks to his illusion magic. Sure enough his whole outfit was working quite well to disguise him, his mask had an enchantment on it at the moment so it looked like a human face. His tails were curled around his waist and had a minor illusion over them too, one to make them appear like a belt. Thanks to Weaver he was also wearing something a little more modern, mainly some cargo pants and a hoodie. About the only oddity was the fact he was wearing gloves and his boots looked a little old fashioned. Still, it was a pretty good disguise for him to use to go about without anyone knowing who or what he was.
Even with his disguise in place he felt very much out of place. He had no idea where to start looking in this library for something he might use to teach himself to read English.
"Oh no. Maybe I should have brought someone to help me with this..." Fox whispered to himself, a bit afraid to break the near silence inside the building. He walked slowly out of the entry way and looked around, having no clue what to look for. None of the books looked like something that he'd be able to easily use as a starting point. As he passed some rows of books he looked at the spines, unable to even read the title or author names written there. If anyone happened to be looking at him they'd see a very confused, and somewhat frustrated, look on his currently enchanted mask as it mirrored the emotions on his actual face.

| Luckily for Fox, someone would actually also be in the library aswell. A friend of his in fact! Isiah was getting ready for the new school year, and was brushing up on a few subjects he had been having trouble with last year. Of course, he said he was going to do that. But mostly he'd be getting lost in one of his manga books. He wasn't going to completely shirk off school stuff, he was just happy to be out and about on his own these days. Isiah would then peer over one of his books, spotting someone that seemed... familiar. His soul sight was very handy but at times like this he was merely confused. But gloves in a library? And those boots were kind of old looking... he'd wait and see what happened first. | |

| Fox looked at one book, taking it off the shelf and peering it... scrutinizing it really. His mask made a scrunched up face that one part irritation and one part confusion. He opened the book and looked at the words inside, literally unable to make heads or tails of what it said. Without any pictures on the pages or on the cover, just words, he didn't even know if he was holding this thing upside down or not... which he just happened to be doing at the moment. After a few more fruitless moments of staring at the words without any comprehension on his part he sighed and put the book back on the shelf. To his credit he was still rather quiet with his frustrations, not bothering anyone else in the library. Nor did he take out his obvious frustrations on the books themselves, after all books were expensive from what he remembered and he hadn't brought any money with him.
Feeling like he'd lost round one he continued to wander a bit aimlessly through the aisles of books, trying to find something familiar. If he just had a point of reference or something he felt confident he could learn this new language in written form... after all he could already speak it fluently! Fox was so focused on his current task he didn't even spot Isiah peering at him from behind a book.

| Isiah could see the frustration welling up inside as he watched. What was he looking for? Didn't seem to be anything specific with how many books he had been going through. And why was he reading some of them upside down? Wait. Could he not read? Isiah blinked from behind his book and got up. He decided he'd go help! "E-excuse me. Do you need help with something?" Isiah asked curiously.
[btw I'm assuming he's using illusions on the mask lol]

| ( Yeah, I said he was using illusions on his mask and tails in my first post here. ) Fox was getting so frustrated he was tempted to throw the current book in his hands. Yet he paused as he heard a familiar voice call out to him. Instantly he seemed to calm down as his head turned to look at Isiah. The look of relief on the fake face mirrored that felt by the Kitsune hiding behind the mask. "Isiah? Oh it is you!" Fox said happily. He took a quick look around to make sure they were alone and moved the mask out of the way so that his friend could see his face. Fox gave his friend a wink and made a 'shushing' gesture before sliding his mask back into place, letting him know it was their little secret for the time being. "I didn't think I'd see anyone I know here. Mostly cause I didn't tell anyone because I... er..." Fox trailed off as he realized he'd almost given away his reason for coming to the library. Then after a moment he let out a little sigh and decided to come clean, if only so that he could get the help he so obviously needed. "I wanted to see if I could teach myself to read English... but I have no idea what I'm doing." He sounded both embarrassed and annoyed by the fact, like he wanted to lash out at something but had no target at all to vent himself at. | |
