Let's go on a Picnic (Ferg)

It was spring, birds were chirping, squirrels were squirrelling, and people were...peopling. Nina had arranged something with Brian, a lovely picnic in the Japanese area of the park, she was to meet him at the gate to the Japanese garden in the park, the cherry blossoms were almost in bloom so pink buds were visible from the trees. Nina was holding a pretty picnic basket with a thick, blue, fancy, waterproof, square patterned blanket rolled up between the handles of the basket. She was also dressed in a pretty spring kimono and had told Brian that so he'd be able to spot her easier. She waited patiently for him to show up, a gentle breeze passing by, good thing that Nina had some thermals under her kimono.

Brian walked towards the park with his hands in his pocket. Today was the day, Brian thought. Considering she hadn't figured out for herself, he was going to tell her about his problem. He figured it was about time, and he definitely didn't want it to come up when more intimate moments were a foot. So he thought today would be for the best. When he got to the gate he spotted Nina immediately, even to a gynophobic like Brian she was stunning. In fact Brian was actually stunned for a moment.

Shaking it off he approached her waving. "Hey Nina! Did you wait long?" he asked making sure not to actually run into her, less he break into hives. "You look absolutely breath taking in that kimono." he stated, slightly messing up the pronunciation of kimono.

Nina would smile when she saw Brian "nah, not too long" she said before blushing a little at his comment "t-thank you" she said happily "shall we go?" she asked as she would begin walking into the park and looked for the perfect area to set down the stuff.

Brian walked behind Nina through the gate. He began to scan the park looking for a nice place to sit. He himself was partial to nice shaded areas such as underneath trees in the shade. He had already tried sitting in the sun, getting cooked may look good to tan his skin but not so good on the comfort level. So once he thought he saw a spot he would immediately point it out for them to sit.

"Hey, how about we sit over there?" he asked pointing towards a shaded tree.

Nina would look to where he was pointing and nodded happily "looks perfect" she said before walking over and setting the blanket down, sitting down on it and opening the basket "I made a few things since I wasn't sure what you'd like" she said, there were a selection of sushi and warm marinaded chicken and beef as well as rice and noodles to go with it.

Brian would sit with Nina and be handed some food. Looking down at it, he saw that there was a lot of Japanese food. "This will work just fine." Brian said, he took a bit of the chicken and beef rice and noodles and began chowing down. After a few mouthfuls he stopped. "Hey Nina, I need to tell you something." he started.

Nina would eat happily and looked to Brian when he wanted to tell her something "what is it?" she asked curiously, swallowing some chicken.

Brian pulls out a bottle of water and takes a sip before he begins talking. Funnily enough he was more nervous now that he was going to say it out loud. "So..You've probably noticed this but... I have gynophobia." he said grabbing another bite of rice.

Nina nodded a little "I see...that does explain a whole lot, I should have seen it sooner, I'm sorry" she said softly as she looked to him, pouring herself some sweet tea.

Brian would take another sip of water. "No need to apologize, to be honest I preferred that you never would have noticed. Though seeing as we have seen each other quite often, more so than I expected when we met and I wanted to be straight with you. That was actually why i was at the speed dating thing. I was looking for at least a way to get over it." Brian would take another drink.

"I know this is a lot for me to drop on what, the third date? but I thought it would easier for me to say it now than later. I understand if this might be a deal breaker..."

Nina would smile softly at him, he was being so honest and opening up to her. She felt happy that he had told her such personal things "it's fine, it doesn't change my opinion of you in any way, now that you've told me we can work on it together, like a proper couple" she said happily, taking a sip of her tea.

Brian cracked a smile. "Yeah, a proper couple eh?" he wondered taking another drink of his water. He was glad to see that she wasn't going to go just because he was scared of women. Well more so terrified than scared. "So.... now that we got that out of the way... how is the shop doing?" he asked looking for another topic.

Nina nodded "good, its becoming very popular" she said happily "lots of customers means lots of money which means a happy foxy" she said.

"That's good to hear." Brian said taking a sip. "Wow this park is beautiful this time of year."

Nina nodded "it's my favourite place in the whole city, apart from home of course, its spectacular when the cherry blossoms are in bloom" she said with a smile as she drank her tea happily.
