| Gifteds. Gifteds and the forever-long dispute over whether or not they should be accepted into the human society. For the time being, however, the tide has turned to allow gifteds the right and confidence to walk freely among humans, and not have to hide their gifts, or themselves. This all comes at a price, however. In exchange for this granted freedom, the government has insisted on taking one, and only one, gifted into their laboratories. Humankind, being as it was, could not resist the shiny new toys they called gifteds. With gifteds, they could win wars - and more! The possibilities! So, thoughts and ideas warped with a lust for power, the humans of one particular government (namely, the United States), took one gifted and set about unlocking the secret of his powers in order to create their very own army. Of course, they were so careful to keep this all a secret that not even the gifteds, who lived in peaceful harmony with the humans, knew what was happening to a brother of theirs in exchange for their freedom. That is, until that brother of theirs escaped. Furious, and driven mad by the years or torture and experimentation, the gifted began killing many innocent people- gifted and human alike.
The government at once turned to their allies in the gifteds, for they knew humans stood no chance against the rage of the mistreated. To achieve the help of the gifteds, they didn't threaten; oh, no, that'd not work. They lied. Or, more accurately, told a half-truth. ."One of your kin is killing both your kind and ours." They said. "Please- we need your help to stop him. And that was all. The story of the experimentation, the lust, the greed... it all remained in the shadows to everyone. The gifteds, of course, agreed to help stop the one who could very well ruin their finally acquired peace. Thus, the agents were formed- however, this group of agents was not the sort of agents they knew from the past. These agents, made of up gifteds and humans alike had one common goal: Track down the killer.
As with all secrets, there is always someone who learns the truth one way or another. A small group of gifteds have learned the truth, and support the illusive killer, whom they have dubbed the Ghost Hound, after one fact, and one belief: the Ghost Hound is as easy to catch as smoke with your bare hands, and it is believed that this killer is a shapeshifter who resides in a canine form most of the time. Those on the Ghost Hound's side believe this killer's motives are just, and will fight the agents to protect his cause. And, thus, the agents and the Ghost Hound's supporters pit themselves against each other in a life-or-death struggle to guard their cause. And the Ghost Hound? He knows what's happening. It's all just a game to him. | |
