Grade: B.
Purpose: Spook is an assassin of the Pantheon, a villainous group bent on taking over the world. He will be used in threads trying to assassinate people deemed to be enemies of the organization.
[HISTORY]
Spook is a nightmare, from the realm of dreams, the Dreaming. For years, he terrorized sleeping humans. No matter what he did, however, he could never kill the dreamers for real. This frustrated him, as he felt like he was incapable of performing his main purpose. After all, if a nightmare cannot kill, then why would humans fear it? His existence was one without consequences, but also one without any sense of reward. He dedicated himself to his work, becoming the most terrifying monster he could, trying to take some pride in that, if nothing else.
When the Vanishing happened, the lines between realities were momentarily weakened. Spook took this opportunity and crossed over into the physical world. Finally, he was free to kill these humans for real. He went on a killing spree upon being loosed upon the world, and he was mostly able to get away with it in the chaos and confusion of the Vanishing.
Since then, he has slowed down, taking time to enjoy each hunt, and making sure to avoid drawing too much attention. The rise of the meta-human population has made him cautious. He simply wishes to spread as much fear and pain as they can get away with. He doesn’t do it because it’s fun, or because he hates the world, or even to punish society. He does it because he believes himself to be the best assassin in the world, and that killing is his purpose.
Full Name: Tacet Metus (Secret, known only to other dreams and those with the power to discover this name)
Codename: Spook
Alias(es): N/A
Age: 85
Classification: Nightmare
Affiliation: Neutral Evil
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 5’ 8”
Weight: 160
Other Traits: Spook is unusually thin. His usual costume seems to be grey strips of cloth wrapped around him in an almost mummy-like fashion. He wears a long-beaked steel mask with red symbols that serve as the eyes. He wears clawed steel gauntlets with katar blades built in. A ragged scarf is wrapped around his neck. In his costume, he smells like ash.
When not wearing his costume, he looks like an average, ordinary man. He has dark skin, a buzz-cut, and can even muster a charming smile.
Powers:
-Unseen- Spook can turn invisible at will, and he can stay that way for as long as he wants. Anything he is wearing or holding also becomes invisible. This applies to anything he is covered in; meaning that throwing a cloud of flour in the air in his general direction will not make him visible. The flour that sticks to him would simply disappear from sight. The good news is that you can still see his footprints.
-Unheard-Spook can create an area of complete silence. All noise within 5 feet of him is canceled out. You can’t hear him coming, and if he gets a hold of you, nobody will hear you scream.
-Undying-Being a Nightmare, many limitations that humans live with do not apply to him. He does not need to eat, drink, or sleep. He is also immune to any effect that would put him to sleep. Unless he is killed, he will heal from all wounds, even regenerating severed limbs, within 24 hours. He does not age, and will live forever unless he is killed.
Weaknesses:
-Mortal- Normal weapons will harm him just like anyone else. His healing factor is not fast enough to make any difference in combat. He has no defense against elemental damage, aside from dodging it.
-Electricity/Magnets- Much of his equipment is made of steel. This makes it difficult for him to avoid electric attacks, which would naturally be drawn to steel. Also, magnetic based attacks can be quite effective in disarming him.
-Sporting Nature- Nightmare does not enjoy killing completely helpless individuals. He sees no fun in it. His own, twisted code of honor does not allow him to kill someone while they are asleep, since he wants them to experience their own death, and have at least some chance to prevent it.
-Footprints- In snow, water, sand, grass, and other types of terrain, his footprints will appear, allowing his prey to know his location.
Skills/Strengths:
-Acrobatics- Spook can very agile. He can perform wall jumps, cartwheels, back flips, and other acrobatic feats with ease. He can land on his feet from 50 feet without taking any damage, and can tumble to lessen damage from throws. He can climb walls very quickly and easily, especially when wearing his Clawed Gauntlets. He can walk tightropes comfortably.
-Agility- While his costume does not provide any real defensive value; it is light enough to allow Spook to move freely. He is naturally skilled at evading attacks and staying on his feet. He can move very quietly, though not completely silent.
-Intelligence- If something is common knowledge, he knows it. If something is known to a select few, he probably knows that, too. If presented with a puzzle, he will be able to solve it in little time.
Equipment:
-Clawed Gauntlets- Steel gauntlets that have razor sharp claws attached to the ends of each finger. With these claws, Spook can easily stab his fingers into a target. They also have two-bladed katars attached to each wrist.
-Throwing Darts- Spook believes that you can never have enough blades. He carries around three steel throwing darts. Once thrown, these darts become visible, and are able to be dodged or blocked.
-Daggers- Spook carries a pair of steel daggers. Very sharp, but rarely used.
-Toe Claws- Yes, he even has blades on his feet. While it isn’t every day you murder someone with your toes, these sometimes comes in handy.
-Mask- A beaked steel mask that covers his face. Most of the time, you won’t be able to see it, since it will be invisible along with him. But if he chooses to show himself, you might just have a heart-attack.
Habits/Quirks:
He never speaks while hunting his prey. In fact, he almost never speaks at all. Out of costume, he can pass as a normal human, and can engage in polite conversation, though he prefers not to. He will often zone out, in the safety of his lair, for hours at a time. When injured, he will usually retreat to his lair and keep to himself until he heals.
Personality:
A murderer at heart, Spook enjoys stalking his prey. It doesn’t matter who he is hunting, really. Although he could kill most people without hesitation, he prefers to allow his victim to realize that they are being followed, and that their life is in danger. If they do not notice that something is wrong from the lack of sound, he will begin cutting them in non-vital spots, slowly driving them into a panic. Depending on the person, a hunt may take several days. He rarely shows himself, especially to his prey. However, there are times when it is preferable to be a visible human being, instead of an invisible Nightmare.
Place of Origin: The Dreaming.
