"Hello, and welcome to the world of Pokemon. My name is Professor Oak and what are your names...?
Oh, I see so you are...
Philipe...and you're a boy. Oh, so you're the nephew of the Dojo master of Lavendar Town.
And you're Terrence, and you're a boy as well. Ah I see, you're Erika of Celadon's cousin.
And finally, you're Astrid, and you're a girl. Oh and your Bill's protege. Also, the youngest of the bunch by one year.
Ok, well welcome and congratulations. Your epic Pokemon journies are about to unfold before your very eyes. Whatever reason you started this adventure never lose sight of that, because it will carry you through the trials and tribulations ahead. Since you're the first three to arrive, you will get the first picks for starters. There were supposed to be five of you, but Ash and my grandson are late. Ash probably overslept and Gary is probably collecting his posse... *sigh* Anyway, we'll let the lady go first. So what will you choose as your first pokemon, Astrid.

The brown haired girl stood with her book in her hand and her glasses dangling off her nose as she peered forward at each pokeball. The other two trainers stood back quietly while she took her time deciding. Philipe had his arms folded and Terrance was looking around the lab, not really concerned about the hard choice that laid ahead of him.
"Aha," the female said startling Professor Oak. I've got it. "I choose Charmander. Based on my calculations this forest ahead will be filled with grass types, which will be perfect for leveling him up." The girl grabbed the pokeball and twirled happily. Meanwhile, Professor oak stood-by with a sweat droplet running down the side of his face.
"While I commend your tactic Astrid, that's not really the best reason to--"
"I'm up next right?" Terrance said, cutting off the professor. Philipe nodded signaling he was ok with this. "Alright then, I'll take Bulbasaur. No brainer."
Professor Oak nodded as Terrance picked up bulbasaur's pokeball. "No surprise there that a celadon Gym leader's kin would chose grass, but I'm afraid Philipe that only leaves you with one option."
Philipe looked serious, but then just smiled. "Nah, that's no problem. In fact. That's perfect." The boy stepped forward and grabbed Squirtle's pokeball. "I believe in balance, and Squirtle exemplifies a perfect balance of power and defense. Unlike the other two." Both of the other teens snickered at Philipe as he made his jab.

"Well then, I'm glad. Now Here comes the important part. I beseech each of you with the task of filing out these pokedex. Once you have done so return them to me. Catalog every pokemon you can find, understand?" As Professor Oak spoke he handed each one of them 5 pokeballs, their pokedex, and a potion for safe-keeping. "This is all I ask in return for your starter pokemon. I hope I can count on you."
All three trainers smiled and responded. "Don't worry professor, you can count on me."
