Powers:
Hair Manipulation – Yuri is able to manipulate her hair to change shape, extend and retract, effectively becoming secondary limbs. Her maximum extension range is 5 meters which she can reach in about a second. Shapes her hair can assume are mostly simple constructs such as hands, blades, shields, nets, hammers and the like. She has a few more complex or specialized forms listed as follows:
*Drill – Yuri can form a powerful drill with her hair. It can go through steel at a rate of 1 inch per second and can be maintained for as long as she needs to.
*Propellers – Yuri can form propellers with her hair enabling makeshift flight. Her maximum flight speed is just around 30 mph and she can only carry up to 200 lbs of weight along with her. It is one of her less efficient forms that she uses only when flight is necessary.
*Projectiles – Yuri can shoot hair projectiles which come in two types: needles and stakes. Needles have enough force to puncture glass, wood and of course skin. Stakes can puncture reinforced concrete, aluminum plates and most metals below the durability of steel. The speed of the projectiles is at 30 m/s.
*Cocoon - As a last line of defense, Yuri can wrap herself up with her hair like a cocoon. She may or may not leave her face exposed. In this state she is totally immobile and can only manipulate one tendril of hair for movement or any other action. She can also use her hair projectiles.
Properties Change – Yuri can alter the physical properties of her hair such as color, texture, hardness and elasticity.
*The maximum hardness Yuri’s hair constructs can reach is that of steel. When struck with enough force to overcome that durability, her hair parts, allowing the source to go through.
*Yuri can change the color and texture of her hair to any color or pattern she has seen.
*Yuri can alter the elasticity of her hair like rubber to use it like a trampoline or a slingshot. Her slingshot can launch objects at speeds up to 100 mph over 100 meters.
Enhanced Hair – Yuri’s hair possesses enhanced strength, toughness and resistance to many forms of physical harm.
*Yuri’s hair can lift up to 5 tons within 1 meter. The longer she extends her hair, the less it can lift. At her max range of 5 meters, it can only lift one ton. Her striking strength however is maintained regardless of length and can reach up to 6-8 tons depending on how much effort she is putting.
*Yuri’s hair has a tensile strength of 10 tons.
*Yuri’s hair can resist extreme heat and cold. It is fireproof and repels all kinds of corrosive substances known to man. It does not conduct electricity or heat, making it safe to work with electronics and areas with very high or very low temperatures.

Weaknesses:
*Saltwater can sap her hair of its strength and mobility until she can wash it off. She loses the ability to extend her hair beyond 1 meter and can only lift about 120 lbs. She also loses the ability to change into complex forms and can only manage tentacle-like tendrils at best.
*Hair stiffeners don't agree with Yuri's hair. They disable her ability to form constructs and change her hair's properties. In addition her hair stiffens and becomes brittle and can be shattered like glass.
*Yuri’s hair offers little if any protection from sound. Extreme vibrations and vibration-based attacks can also disrupt her control, rendering her unable to form constructs.
*Yuri’s hair offers little protection from gas and unreliable protection from liquids. Gas will seep through easily. Liquid cannons on par with water pressure from a fire hydrant can go through with little effort.
*With the exception of her hair, Yuri is only human in stats.

Personality: Yuri is a responsible and upstanding individual with a strong sense of justice. She takes hero work very seriously though she sometimes acts arrogant and uptight. This is merely a front she uses to boost her own confidence. She hates making mistakes but when she does, she ends up doubling her efforts to ensure she makes up for it. She is not fond of surprises as she likes being on top of things but she’s often one of the quickest to adapt to unusual and unexpected situations.

She normally doesn't admit it, but she likes it when people rely on her and put their faith in her when times are tough. However this does not mean she's lenient on slackers. She still believes people should do what they can before counting on others for help. Even so, she is the type of person who can’t ignore trouble and has the tendency to meddle.

She treats everyone fairly and equally and is not quick to judge others. She is almost always willing to give people a chance to prove or redeem themselves no matter who they are.  She considers herself a benevolent and tolerant person, but the one thing she will not condone is the betrayal of companions, even amongst enemies. She is sure to punish those who do so in front of her a little harsher than usual.

She is cool, classy and carries herself with poise. Her posh demeanor belies her kind nature.

History: Yuri is a second generation hero. Her father, Viktor Alexei, was an undercover hero working for a special division in the army. He met Yuri’s mother, Satsuki, while on a mission in Japan. She was a biotech researcher whose day job was working as a hairstylist in a small salon. Viktor was to protect her from enemy agents seeking to enlist her services into their organization. When the organization was finally brought down, Viktor returned to Japan to marry her, having fallen in love in a classic bodyguard romance story. The two decided that it would be the best for their family to retire from their undercover professions and to live a normal life.

However, fate seemed to have different plans for their family. When their daughter Yuri was born, they were surprised to find that she possessed special abilities. Viktor, being what he was, had always thought there was a chance that might happen. And if it did, it would be up to him to ensure that Yuri learned how to control her powers and instil in her the values and sense of responsibility that came with possessing such gifts. That meant spending their days training and their nights telling old stories of Viktor’s accomplishments. Satsuki did her part as well by doing research. Yuri possessed different powers from Viktor which made training her a little tricky. They managed to pull through as a family though and all in all they felt that destiny brought them closer together by having Yuri be born as she was.

Fast forward about a decade. It had been a few years since Yuri mastered her powers along with some skills in a couple of martial arts disciplines. Her father still occasionally sparred with her but now devoted most of his time to his day job as a physical education teacher. Her mother was also spending most of her time running her salon. On the whole, their life was in a state of normalcy. But it was something that would not last. The cogs of fate began to move again. The first sign was the sudden disappearance of her father.

It was abrupt and without warning. The school where her father worked called them saying he had gone missing in the middle of a lesson. He wouldn’t disappear without letting them know. That was what both mother and daughter believed. And if he was taken by force, it would need to have been perpetrated by extraordinary people. They immediately tried to contact all of Viktor’s old acquaintances from his hero days to see if anyone had a clue on his possible whereabouts. They found none. The only hint they could get was that all around the world, other heroes had been reported missing as well.

Yuri would spend the next year or so traveling and researching all she could about the event then dubbed as The Vanishing. In her search, she eventually arrived in Jump City where she heard new heroes and villains were supposedly gathering.
