"There never was or is a place for people like me. That's why I have to help people, or else I'm just a monster."

William Dean

Colossus
Colossus Coloss10

William:

===IDENTITY===

Full Name: William Dean
Nickname(s): Big Guy, freak, monster
Codename: Colossus
Alias(es): The Giant
Age: 18 (Physically) 1,860 (Actuality)
Classification: Metahuman
Affiliation: Chaotic Good

===PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION===

Hair Color: Black (As both)
Eye Color: Blue-gray (As both)
Height: 6' (William) 60' (Colossus)
Weight: 168 lbs (William) 27889 lbs (Colossus)
Other Traits:

===POWERS===

Powers:
-Colossus: William has the ability to transform into a sixty foot giant. The transformation is triggered when William inflicts injury on himself. He usually does this by biting his hand, hard. At the same time as the injury, William has a primary goal in mind, and Colossus will perform it to the best of his ability.
Colossus himself is similar, but different to William. His hair is shaggier but shorter. His face is more angular, and his teeth are outside of his mouth, and he doesn't seem to have lips or gums. His body also has much more defined muscle mass. On top of this, Colossus has very hot blood. It averages out to 211 degrees, and it boils and steams. Any open wound he has will steam due to this. And in some extreme cases, Colossus's blood will become fire, making him more aggressive and ruthless, as well as his touch being red-hot. Red magma-like lines cover his skin, and his eyes glow a bright blue. Extreme cases meaning when William experiences extreme rage. William can stay as Colossus for an hour and a half, but if he strains the body the time can become as short as fifteen minutes.

-Regeneration: Colossus and William both regenerate, but both are slow in the process. For Colossus, losing digits takes ten minutes, fore-limbs take twenty(this is including hands/feet), and whole limbs take half an hour. For William, it takes five minutes more. (Thus fifteen for digits, twenty-five for fore-limbs, and thirty-five for limbs) If Colossus loses his head, the whole body will collapse and become steam, leaving William behind. If William loses his head, he dies.
Side note: Due to this regeneration, as well as a mutation to the aging gene, William is technically immortal- not getting older and dying, and staying physically eighteen. However, he can be killed, just hasn't.

-Strength: William has average strength for a human being, really only able to bench press around half his weight. However, Colossus is very strong. Colossus can lift twenty five tons over his head, and can drag twenty eight. Twenty nine strains his muscles, and thirty can tear his skin. His legs are also strong; he can run up to sixty miles per hour. But if he runs this fast, it can contribute to straining the body, lessening the time William can use Colossus.

Skills: Both William and Colossus have some knowledge on hand to hand combat, shown by Colossus's tendency to bring his fists up instead of blindly charging all the time. Other than this, William is a skilled pianist, the only skill that seems to be prevalent after every memory wipe he goes through. Colossus's only skill that seems to be independent from William's is his almost beast like attack patterns when his blood becomes fire, if that could be called a skill at all.

Weaknesses:
-Neck: Colossus's entire neck area is a weak-spot. If he's hit with sufficient force there, Colossus will collapse and William won't be able to use him for twenty-four hours. The spot is a different color from the rest of his skin, a darker color, but without looking closely it would be harder to spot.
William: William without Colossus is almost entirely human, except for his regenerative factor. He can't run very fast or hit very hard, and if not for his combat training, he might be dead already.
-Size: Due to his immense size, it's quite a bit more difficult for Colossus to fight normal sized people. Small, moving targets are difficult to hit.
-Hitting Too Hard: Sometimes, Colossus punches so hard that he damages himself. On a related note, it's of course harder to fight when Colossus has lost limbs. In this weakened state it's also easier to hit his neck.
-Getting Tired: Colossus can get tired if fighting too hard for too long, and if he gets too exhausted, he will collapse, and William won't be able to use him for a long while, about half a day.

Equipment:
William carries a (registered) pistol with him, just in case he needs to defend himself. Other than this, he has a cell phone.

===PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE===

Personality: William is, at his core, cautious. He has no choice to be anything otherwise. He tends to keep his distance from anything he thinks would set him off, make him angry, or anything of that nature. Otherwise, William is considerate, but is often distant. He tries not to succumb to raw passion. He fears that in doing that, he might hurt people. And his biggest goal is to help people, and hopefully stop being seen as a monster.

Strengths:
-William's tact combined with Colossus's strength
-Moral code
-Sense of duty to protect innocents at all costs

Interests/Habits:
-Piano
-Visiting museums and other historical sites
-He occasionally snaps to himself, when really he's conversing with Colossus

===PERSONAL BACKGROUND===

Family Members: Atilius Canius Taenaris (Father), Floriana Canius Taenaris (Mother)
Place of Origin: Rome
History:

153 AD - 453 AD
William was born in a wooden hut on the outskirts of the great and mighty Rome, like many people in his social level at that time. His father was in Egypt at the time, helping to quell Egyptian riots against Roman rule. At his birth, his mother named him Maximus, because she thought he could be great. But, he was really only capable of being a farmhand. At the time, it was hard to climb the hierarchy. When he was sixteen, a letter written by a Roman captain arrived at their home, detailing the loss of Atilius Canius Taenaris in a Marcomanni tribe attack. He was killed by a spear through the skull. Enraged, Maximus enlisted. Spending savings from crop sales, Maximus received his own legionary armor. Joining with other soldiers, they repelled the Marcomanni. This, however, was the end of the Pax Romana, and many conflicts arose in that year. Both the Vandals and Germans invaded, and Maximus fought in both invasions. Due to his excellent combat skill, he was promoted to a centurion. In 168, he led his century against the Marcomanni upon crossing the Alps, and avenged his father. The next year, the Marcomanni attacked one again, invading two Roman provinces.

In the middle of that battle, something curious happened. Maximus was struck by a Marcomannic spear, and instead of perishing, he was surrounded in red and green energy. His century had no idea what had happened, and instead of staying, all retreated. The energy expanded out like an explosion, and became steam. From this cloud of steam rose a sixty foot tall behemoth, like a man, but also unlike any man in existence. The legionaries thought it was a Titan from Olympus, come to smite the Marcomanni army. To their shock, the giant attacked Romans and Marcomanni alike, stomping on legionaries and smashing Marcomannic soldiers with his fists. Some tried to fight the giant, but their spears did little to harm it, and after killing countless soldiers it fled into the distance and disappeared. The legionaries searched for Maximus's body, but it was never found.

This was because Maximus WAS the giant. He knew this after he had become it, because the voice reached him in his head and told him so. He knew because he had been at least partially aware when he was the giant, and was afraid- of himself. When the instance was reported, the Romans sent out searches, looking for both the giant and Maximus. Maximus intentionally hid, and did so for years. At this time, he began to notice he hadn't aged, hadn't gotten taller since he was sixteen. He wondered why this was, but slowly it faded from his thoughts, as he constantly had to avoid Roman patrols. This went on for almost fifty years. Maximus had built himself a hut in a forest, somewhere near modern day Constantinople. He'd taken up training in the day, and mediating at night.

While on a visit to a small village, he had heard about wars going on in the distant land of China. Curious beyond belief, he purchased a horse and began the journey. On the way, upon entering Asia, he saw many burned villages and hurried his pace. He reached one city, and as he got there, noticed that the city was being flooded. Innocent people, children included, were being drowned. Acting on an impulse, Maximus remembered what had caused him to transform into the giant; he had been injured and lost blood. So, he looked at his hand, and bit hard into it. In an instant, he was surrounded in the same red and green electricity as before. Out of the steam rose the giant once more, and it made its way to the village.

Upon reaching the small Chinese village, the giant, guided by Maximus, found the source of the flood. A ruptured dam, which was poorly built to begin with. People screamed and threw rocks at him, calling him 'monster' and 'demon' in Mandarin. He ignored them, picking up a boat out of the lake formed by the dam, and putting it into the broken part of the wall. He then went to the village, helping people out of the water, despite being hit and even bitten.

Eventually, everyone was safe. The people began to realize that the giant had helped them, and began to cheer. The giant had begun to leave, but stopped. It hadn't expected cheering. Regardless, the Colossus disappeared into the mist that formed as it began to rain.

Beyond that day, Maximus avoided people. He didn't investigate the warring like he'd planned, instead spending a whole century hiding away in China. After that, he caught a boat to Japan, renaming himself as Yuzuru Kirogaya. Becoming a fisherman, he continued to avoid people unless he needed to interact. He never planned on being made known, but it was inevitable.

One stormy night, Kirogaya was hauling in his nets when he noticed a lone sailboat in the bay. Suddenly the ship was struck by lightning, and caught fire, which spread so fast the rain couldn't put it out. Kirogaya immediately dove into the bay upon hearing the screams of someone trapped on the boat. He climbed onto its deck, and found the trapped sailor, freeing him from a fallen beam. At that moment, something Kirogaya had hoped to never see rose from the crashing waves.

The sailor was terrified and leapt from his ship, attempting to swim to shore. The serpent turned to him, and began to move. However, it didn't get far, as it was impeded by the massive fist of the Colossus. Acting on impulse, Kirogaya had called on the giant to stop the deadly serpent from taking any lives, if it hadn't already. The serpent whipped around to attack, its jaw bleeding from the first impact. The Colossus quickly swept it out of the water, raising it above his head. It tried to struggle, but the Colossus ripped it clean in half with a roar that shook the sea and the shore. Almost as soon as it had appeared, the Colossus was gone, and so was Kirogaya.

Kirogaya left his fishing village, and stayed near the central island until 453 AD.

454 AD - 753 AD
Kirogaya woke up one morning in a room he didn't recognize. In fact, he was sort of uncertain about many things that morning...his name, who he was. Not knowing what else to do, Kirogaya explored his rooms, looking for clues of what was going on. He found a note addressed to Yuzuru Kirogaya, and assumed that might be his name. Regardless, he left that place. He felt an odd compulsion to go somewhere new. To start something new.

Over fifty years, Kirogaya moved around Japan but found nothing that satisfied his want for something new and fresh. So, he decided to leave, and over three years of travel found himself in India. Buddhism interested him, and considered taking it up, to possibly find himself. While staying in a small village, he met someone who was entirely out of place, but somehow was essential to her surroundings. A girl pale as snow, with hair somehow paler, and emerald eyes, like pools of liquid jade. She was slender and graceful, and Kirogaya fell for her on sight. Her name was Iria, and Kirogaya often met her by the waterfall in the evenings. For two years this went on, and they grew steadily closer, once sharing a kiss in the moon rise's light.

Iria had fallen in love with Kirogaya, and him with her. But everything fell apart when Iria's father announced her marriage- to a man neither Iria nor Kirogaya had ever even heard of. In despair, Iria took off in the night, not even taking Kirogaya with her. But he followed as soon as he heard her leaving. He followed her tracks to the dark forest, and after many hours searching, he heard a desperate, grief-stricken wail. Kirogaya located the source, a pit filled with large thorny stalks. And Iria. She laid there, thorns sticking through her arms and legs, and through her sides. Kirogaya let out a startled, desperate, strangled gasp, and carefully made his way to her, holding her close as her life ebbed away.

"I love you...Yuzuru Kirogaya...be strong...unlike me..." With that, she was gone.
Colossus Blackb10

Too late. That was all Kirogaya could think as he shook with anger, clutching his dead love in his arms. They had killed her; her father, and that man she was to marry without her consent. Enraged, the Colossus broke free and began the short walk to the village. But this was different than ever before. Red-hot lines crossing his skin, eyes glowing bright blue and almost pulsing, as if his rage were literally trying to burst out. He broke into a run, and then it became a primal, four legged dash, and upon reaching the village, he let loose. He smashed buildings, setting them aflame. People scattered, screaming and praying. He crushed their bones beneath his palms and soles, roaring with all the pain he had endured.
And all the while, Kirogaya cried.

753 AD - 1053 AD

The destruction of Iria's village didn't go unnoticed. Soldiers tried to track down the giant for a very long time, but to no avail. It was gone. Kirogaya lost his memory, again, while in the mountains of Tibet. This time, unfortunately, he did not have the luxury of a fishing buddy to tell him his name. A monk found him out in the snow, and called him Rabten, because of his obvious resilience even in these very cold temperatures. Rabten did not understand much of the Tibetan language, but knew enough to know the meaning of his new name. He accepted it gratefully, although he felt it strange he didn't have a name to begin with.

Despite his confusion, Rabten had one thing he felt compelled to do. He looked to the highest peak among the mountains, and felt the impulse to reach the top. He asked the monk about it; the monk advised him not to even try it. But Rabten disregarded this warning, and without any gear whatsoever, he set out for the slopes. Up and up he climbed, slipping often but always managing, barely, to not fall off of the mountain. After nearly a day he was there. On top of the world, Rabten looked out over the horizon, and felt like a god.

After making the descend, Rabten journeyed elsewhere. He was very nomadic at this time, travelling all across Asia, and along the way he noticed he didn't age at all. Rabten was confused by this at first, but eventually came to accept it as well. After a long time of travelling, Rabten was in Europe once again.

Rabten bought a very small house in Spain, and went to sleep again. The next morning, he was not sure who he was or where he had come from...

1053 AD - 1353 AD

With no one around him, or any knowledge of his past, Rabten abandoned his house and became a vagabond. Wandering aimlessly with no money, and only some food if he could get it. He felt sad for no particular reason, and often got into fights with other people. He eventually got the name Apolonio for his ability to best bigger men in combat.

Apolonio wandered to Africa, travelling south through the Sahara and to the savannas. There, he built a hut to live in. Apolonio tried to live a life of seclusion, but his curiosity was aroused when he heard of a massive creature, much like a snake, but with legs like an elephant. It was called a mokele-mbembe. Apolonio set out to find it, convinced he could defeat anything that was bigger than him. He was sailing across a river when he found it. It rose from the water, easily sixteen meters long. It spotted him, and tried to bite him from his boat.

Apolonio was not quick enough to get away, but that didn't stop him from struggling. He hit the creature over the head, and kept saying in his mind, "I will defeat this monster...I will defeat it..." The monster dropped him into the water, blood dripping from him. The moment he hit the water, something happened. A swirl of red and green energy, almost like lightning, surrounded William's body. When the steam cleared, there was steam rising from where he had been in the deep river.

Then, the Colossus rose up, quickly, and tackled the mokele-mbembe into the water with a roar. A battle that lasted nearly an entire day followed. Their roars and snarls could be heard for a mile round, and eventually the Colossus ended it with snapping the lizard's neck. Colossus was never seen in that area again.

Apolonio left his shack behind. He left Africa behind. He now knew his strength, but was unsure of what to do with it. He became sad again, and never even learned how to actually use his power again. So he never did, and stayed that way for a very long time. He noted that he didn't age, but thought it was linked to his quick healing and the Colossus.

1353 AD - 1653 AD

Apolonio was in France. He lived in a small cottage near Paris' outskirts. Again, he knew nothing about himself. But again, he was alone. Except soon, he wasn't. He heard crying outside his door, and when he opened it he found himself looking down upon a small child, wrapped up in a basket. She was pale, with bright red hair and green eyes. Apolonio looked around, confused, but saw no one.

The baby had a small note tucked between the blanket and the weaves of the basket. All it had was a word on it, "Evana". Assuming this to be the child's name, he took her inside. Originally, he planned to take her to the orphanage. However...something clicked in his mind that first day. The way her green eyes turned to his when she laughed. So he decided to raise her himself. He knew next to nothing about anything, let alone bringing up a young one, but in the end he knew he did well. Evana didn't cry too often. Apolonio named himself Guillaume, knowing only the French language, and he then taught it to Evana.

Some days Guillaume regretted teaching her how to speak, because she did just that all day, every day. If he wasn't feeding her, she was talking. About their garden, or the river, or the big city just a mile away. She seemed to be excited about everything, from a bird to a flower or a horse-drawn cart going by. Evana always wanted to live in Paris, but Guillaume always had to tell her how expensive it was for people like them. Evan swore she'd get a really good job so they could live there. Guillaume would always tell her he'd help her, and that way Evana had clear goals, which made Guillaume happy.

Evana had few skills. What few skills she did have, though, she was quite good at. She was a good swimmer, and very good at mathematics. She wanted to become an inventor, so at age ten, Guillaume would help her get little things so she could tinker with them. When Evana got something to work, her face lit up with glee, and that made Guillaume all the happier.

When Evana became fourteen, she started having problems. Some days she couldn't get out of bed to go into the garden, and she often had bouts of coughs and chills. Guillaume wasn't sure what to do about this, but he often stayed with her when she was too weak to get out of bed. He played little games with her, talked about her little inventions, about her dreams. Sometimes Evana asked Guillaume why he never grew bigger, taller. He never had an answer, but in honesty she never minded. She also asked, one day, if Guillaume was her real father or not. It took him a moment to answer.

"No, I'm not...I'm not your real father. But I am your guardian. I'll be here for you, always."

One day, Evana didn't wake up. She had only a faint pulse and breath. Panicking, Guillaume brought her to the city to get a professional doctor, to see what was wrong with her. In the huge city of Paris, Guillaume eventually found one. She was laid in a bed in the doctor's home, coughing, and the doctor looked her over for a bit, eventually leaving them alone, saying little. Evana opened her eyes just slightly, Guillaume sitting next to her. He held her hand, saying, "Look, Evana...we're in Paris..." He pointed to the window. Evana looked through to see the Arc de Triomphe in the distance. "Thank you...for doing this for me..."

Evana smiled wider, and closed her eyes. Her grip loosened as her biggest desire was fulfilled. Guillaume didn't know she was gone for the longest of times...of course, he cried, when it dawned on him. Evana was so young, and had so many dreams, and was gone already. Guillaume had no words but a few for the doctor when he came back. He gave the man all of his money and said, "Make sure she gets a nice plot."

With that, Guillaume was gone. He sold his house and became a sort of nomad, living off of the house money. Sometimes he visited Evana's grave. All it had on the headstone was her name. Even though she was so much more than a name, and had so much potential beyond even what she was at death. And Guillaume never even knew why she died. Why was life so cruel? Why did the best of things have to become the worst of things?

Guillaume traveled all around Europe, but kept coming back to England. He didn't particularly know why, but he didn't care. While he was there, he became William, as it was the English version of his French name. He learned the new language quickly. Over the years he did little but start fights and make a fool of himself. But after a few years he decided to do something with his life. He started doing community service for the poor, working in a soup kitchen almost every day, and helping to clean up the places they lived. He thought it to be the least he could do for them. Eventually, he had worked enough odd jobs, combined with what was left of his house money from France, to rent a nice apartment. From there he got a job, still doing community service on the side, and managed to keep bad thoughts from his mind.

But William couldn't stay in the same place for too long. People would notice his unchanging body. So after a few years he moved to another town, and so on. He even spent some time in Ireland. But in truth...it all bored him. Living for so long, seeing people grow old and die. It was all so sad. But everytime he thought about that, memories of Evana came up, so he thought of other things. But something else interested him; many people were going to a place across the sea called America. in 1647, he got on a boat to travel across the Atlantic. The voyage took a long time, but when they finally reached the opposite shore, William was ready to start a new life.

1653 AD - 1953 AD

William stayed in one of the early settlements, but only shortly. During that time he became an amnesiac, again. But, a local he knew before at the village helped him reconstruct some sort of identity. And then he was off. He went deep into the wilderness, beyond the borders of the new colonies. He didn't know that there were many natives, but he often came across them. Some were hospitable, and others hostile. William was able to defend himself well enough, but it was tough sometimes. Eventually, he found a nice place rather far from anyone on the west coast, and built a small log cabin in a month.

William had little interaction with anyone. He even began letting a small beard grow out, because he didn't have the need or motivation to shave. One day, he was out hunting for deer. His hunt brought him near a small village of native Americans, who had their huts built between the roots of large trees. He didn't give much thought to it at first, but something then caught his eye. One of the thick trunks was beginning to give way, and none of the villagers noticed it at all. William had no idea what to do, but a sudden idea came over him. It was an odd idea that he didn't understand, as if some other voice in his mind suggested it.

Slowly William raised his hand to his mouth, and then bit down hard, breaking the skin. In an instant it was if he were struck by lightning, red and green lightning, and it surrounded him, expanding out and becoming steam. Momentarily no one knew what had happened, but out of the steam came the giant Colossus, and just as the tree began falling down to Earth, the giant caught it, holding it over his head like the Greek Atlas. The natives were astounded, some thinking it to be some divine being come to save them from the falling trunk. But as soon as it moved the tree it was leaving. None of the villagers ever saw it again.

William was terrified at what had happened. He had no idea what he was anymore. It was enough that he never aged, but this? He was a freak. William just kept moving to different places after that. Over time the colonies began to spread. In 1755, he heard of the beginning of a revolt, against Britain. Strangely he felt not at all compelled to become involved. So he just waited it out, and eventually the United States were born. William watched as the country grew and filled with people. He thought it odd he was witnessing the birth of a nation and it's subsequent generations and complications.

William avoided people as best as he could. When the cities and roads grew to swallow up his land, he became nomadic once more. William wandered through city streets, sat in the cold and rain, and seemed miserable. But really, he was just thinking. Thinking about what he was and why he existed. For whole lifetimes he did this. No one ever asked him even his name. Decades rolled by. News of war in Europe came by in the nineteen thirties. No one in the US wanted to go to war, but one day, Pearl Harbor in Hawaii was bombed by the Japanese, allies to Nazi Germany. Very quickly the US sprang to action, sending soldiers to the European and Pacific fronts.

For once, William decided to do something. He enlisted. After several months in training he was sent out to the Pacific like the others. He fought like the others, ate like the others, made friends like the others. Lost friends like the others. He felt human, for the first time he could remember. But life still felt...monochrome. Pointless, even. Like nothing really mattered. Like he could be shot and nothing would change. So one day, he stood up from his trench. Bullets whizzed by until finally one met its mark. William toppled down onto his back, thinking, I wish I could make a difference...All of his fellow soldiers were taken out as he lay there, bleeding slowly. The enemy began to advance towards him. He kept thinkg the same thought over and over. He wished he could have saved his friends. And then...

It dawned on William. He could make a difference. He slowly raised his hand to his mouth, and in that moment a pin could be heard if dropped. The air crackled with electricity as he bit down, the sky turning a bright red and green as he was enveloped in the arcs of lightning. Then the rain and dark took over again. The enemy heard nothing but a sudden, earth-shaking roar, and suddenly the soldiers found themselves being stomped under the feet of a gigantic man, with inhuman silver-blue eyes and teeth on the outside of his mouth. None of them made it out alive.

William came back from the front bewilderingly unharmed. He was extremely reticent about what had happened, and people knew not to ask about it. So he was sent back to the States, relieved from military duty altogether. He spent some time in a ward for mental recovery. In 1953 he woke up in a hospital bed...not knowing who he was once again.

1953 AD - Present

William's psychological doctor tried to help him past his odd amnesia, but to no avail. He was released after a month to live life. He moved far away to the north, found a nice place to sit, and...just did so. He built a house around that spot. The tiniest one imaginable. He only got up to hunt for food. He slept in that spot. He felt inhuman, and as much as he was human, no one could or would try to tell him so. As time passed he became less interested in himself and more in the world. In the 21st century, people with superpowers began to appear all over the world. They became very important, but feared above all. Then one day, all of them disappeared, at least, all of the publicly known ones.

A place called Jump City seemed to attract new metahumans to it. William knew that the Teen Titans used to live there, and that they too, had disappeared. So he left his small icy home and traveled there, in utmost curiosity. He bought a little plot in the forest, having a place to live constructed there, and then he turned his attention to the city; what would he find there? He intended to find out.

How fast can he run as Colossus?

Does Colossus have any enhanced durability? Can he still be hurt by anything that would hurt a normal person, just to a lesser degree due to his size?

Since his healing factor is pretty slow in the grand scheme of things, would a mortal blow (getting impaled through the heart/eye/ect) cause Colossus to revert back to William?

Colossus can run sixty miles per hour, if he is belting it. I'll add this.

Yes, he is hurt by most things, but most small cuts and things heal nearly instantly.

As for things that are mortal blows to humans, they wouldn't make Colossus revert. Colossus is more of an outer shell, with William in his neck. (That being why it is his weak spot.) So a blow to the heart or eye would slow him down, but not take him out of the game. As well as that, an eye shot won't do as much as a heart shot.
