The wind was harsh and the trail was a rough one, but the quest reward was worth it. The glaze blade; a mythical shard, when equipped on the hilt of a weapon would allow EXTRA hit-point damage even with the most durable of armors. This was good for dealing extremely heavy damage to armored opponents, especially bosses. JaK was after it, usually he would take a mission like this solo, but as he looked back of course she had insisted on accompanying him.

Bow; the familiar tamer with her feathered dragon was behind him by a few feet as the snowstorm raged on. Meanwhile, JaK was ahead in his winter coat. "Hey! Do you wanna take a break!?" He asked out loud, it was a little ways until they reached the outpost and then they would break and set back on the trail in the morning. At night snowmen crawled all over the trail looking for weary travelers. JaK remembered from the Beta-test that he had lost his life in a party when they ambushed them, he didn't want to risk the same mistake again.

As they trudged further up the path, Bow was using her rapier as a cane of sorts. She, unfortunately, and unwittingly, never got a winter coat. One hand was on her cane while the other was hugging herself and trying to stop the shivering, though she would never say anything about it. When he looked back at her, she stood up tall and tried to speak without her teeth chattering. "N-no! I-I'm fine back here!! J-just keeping an eye out!!" She kept telling herself the outpost JaK had mentioned was only just a few more steps. Just deal with it a bit more and she could rest and eat a little something and maybe get to know him a little more. When she thought about it, she sighed and ran to catch up with him.

As she ran to catch up to him, he couldn't help but smirk and then removed his winter coat and placed it upon her before his expression returned to it's usual nature. "Here." JaK said revealing his sleeveless tight fitting undershirt. He then turned and trudged a little further in the snow, holding her hand and pulling her along. "It shouldn't be much farther now." He couldn't rightfully explain it himself, everyone should be expected to shoulder their own weight, but he couldn't just let her keep on in that manner.

When he placed his coat on her, she gasped in surprise and blushed brightly, almost about to take it off, but it felt nice, so she decided she would argue with it still draped around her shoulders. Plus, this was a rare opportunity to see him in such a shirt. It was hard not to stare for a bit. She felt a bit like a boy for a moment before looking up at his eyes. She glared at him with a mixture of worry for him and a feeling of warmth. "I-I don't need this! You're going to catch your death with no clothing on!!" Again though, she didn't take it off. It felt too cozy. As he took her hand she blinked and sighed, knowing he wouldn't listen to her. She rolled her eyes and smiled, trying to keep up with him the best she could. When he said it wouldn't be much farther she nodded, thankful, and held his hand just a bit tighter, that being a great source of heat for her right now as her cheeks were still red because of it. She wouldn't let go until he did.

"Stop. I'll be fine. I'm a solo-player remember. I've been through much worse. Besides, it's only a bit farther any...---NO!" JaK said as he stopped in shock and saw the fortefied town up ahead on fire and the front gate smashed in. They were under attack, but what could break through those gates!? It was a town that was part of the game's design, not player made. Did that means it was meant to happen? Was this apparent raid/attack an event? "Hold up. I'll be right back, I'm gonna go scout ahead and see what's going on." JaK then pulled his blade and charged forward fading into the white whisps of the snow as his hiding skill activated, leaving Bow all alone in the snowstorm.

All Bow was looking at was him and their hands. She pouted as he rebutted her point; however, that whole conversation quickly evaporated as he shouted and Bow snapped back into reality, looking up to see the whole place burning down. She looked to JaK and wondered if this had happened before during the beta-test, but as she observed his face, she quickly knew it wasn't. The shock and fear spread through Bow faster than the cold had, or the warmth. When her brain finally processed the information, JaK started talking about leaving her. She blinked and was about to scream at him when he disappeared. Rolling her eyes, she pouted and crossed her arms. "Stupid hiding skill..." *pout* Then it clicked that she was now alone in unfamiliar territory. She drew her sword and got into a defensive stance, keeping her eyes moving to try and see anything... unusual. Please hurry, JaK...

However, JaK did not return for an extended period of time. Although, there was a low rumbling in the snow around Bow soon enough. About a minute later, any hopes of that noise being JaK would be dashed from her mind as a club barley missed smashing into her! When the figure that nearly hit her was looked upon, it could be seen to be that of an Abomidible, AKA a snow yeti. These creatures blended in with the snow and wielded a stone club, it was also two sizes bigger than any player and heavily muscled. Two more would approach as well. These things were hard to take out solo or even in a group. A fact proven by how the Beta-testers had been taken out by them before in a night raid.

Her head instantly turned in the direction of the rumbling, but she chose not to say anything. Even though she hoped it would be, there was a good chance it was an enemy, so she kept her blade ready. Luckily, her instinct was right in this instance as the club nearly smashed her against the wall, but she jumped back in time to see what it was. A... A yeti!? Anything was possible in this game, she guessed. She bit her lip as she raised her blade over her shoulder, initiating Rainbow Slash. In the second she had to wait for it to glow cyan, she thought. What have I learned about these things... They're big, but dumb... That doesn't help here... Well... Maybe... She finished her thought as she jumped up and brought her blade down on the beast, only lowering the hp bar by 25%. "Crud!" Bow then swung around to see two more approaching and her heart almost stopped. She quickly got Piercing Scream ready and ran at one of the other ones, screaming. She then flipped over it and landed away from them, trying to think for a moment.

As she took time to think all three yeti's approached after her grunting and howling, however, suddenly from behind two of them their legs, back, shoulders, neck and chest would all receive a slash! Upon closer inspection the slash seemed to be from a flickering object/person, and then the loud battle cry emitted from it caused one to realize that it was JaK utilizing his sword art and  hiding skill to initiate a surprise attack. "Midnight Strike!" The two Yeti's instantly slowed, their health now in the yellow. Meanwhile, the third was upon Bow and attempted to bring down it's club on top of her, but JaK got in the way just in time and blocked with his black buckler shield. His knees buckled themselves under the pressure of the strike, but JaK didn't quit! He sliced at the yetis leg with his blade causing it to step back. "Run!" He turned and pushed Bow forward and dove sideways, allowing them both to miss a second swing attempt from the yeti, and then ran up it's club arm, slashing it across the face and flipping overhead to the snowy floor behind it in knelt position. Although, JaK's recklessness would cost him, for before he could land after his brazen attack, he was backhanded in mid air by one of the other Yetis! The blow sent him rolling across the snow and his health into the 75% range as he landed flat on his face.

When Bow looked up from her thought, she almost panicked as she started to back up slowly. Crap crap crap crap... I'm not good enough for this... She rose her blade again when they got near her and was preparing to fight again when, all of a sudden, slashes just seemingly appeared on their bodies. She stood frozen for a moment until he cried out his Sword Art. "JaK!!" Instantly she felt better and thought they could actually win this. When the yeti brought down its club, Bow was prepared to try and block with her rapier. Luckily though, JaK was there to block it for her. It probably would've went straight through the feeble rapier. However, she saw his knees buckle and screamed. "JaK! D-don't get hurt!!" Again, just as she was about to do something useful and attack the yeti holding him down, he sliced the legs. Her blade was already up when he pushed her and she stumbled forward. "I'm not running!"

As he took care of one monster, another was rapidly approaching his way. Bow ran straight towards it and brought her sword back above her shoulder, jumping up and slicing all the way down its club wielding arm. She then spun around and saw JaK was hurt and started running towards him, though the first yeti was coming at her now. Shoot. She turned towards it and waited, drawing back her blade and waiting for it to turn violet. She ran and jumped up, piercing the beast in the chest. The yeti responded by yanking her by her hair and throwing her straight down into the snow. Bow landed on her shoulder with an "ugh" but was back up in no time flat.

As Bow got back up and the yeti approached, JaK flipped over her head again in fearless fashion and slashed it straight down it's chest. "We can do this.." He said aloud as he landed in a crouched position and then spun his blade around in his hand before signaling for her to rush with him. "Come on, together now!" JaK yelled out as they both charged the second incoming monster, slashing and hacking away at it in sync, not letting up until the Yeti was destroyed.

However, No sooner did they finish that one off in a burst of pixels, the other two attacked from opposite angles. JaK blocked both their swings with his shield and blade, however, his blade was too weak to fully block and he ended up taking damage, dropping his health into the yellow. "URRRGHH!! SWITCH!" JaK yelled out and pushed back, parrying their blows into the air with pure willpower, leaving both Abomidible's open for Bow to attack.

Bow watched as he sliced the monster down its chest and stood beside him when he landed, blade already ready for the next attack, smiling slightly at his words. When he signaled for her to rush with him, she smirked and nodded very subtly. Then he gave the order and she charged up the blade, jumping up and slashing along side of him until the yeti fell into an abyss of pixels.

As she landed beside him, she could only smile at the way he shielded both attacks, but gasped in horror as she saw his hp bar drop. She almost rushed before, when JaK yelled switch. She made her sword glow and waited until he made their clubs fling away from their bodies before jumping up and piercing the first with her whole force, causing it to burst into pixels. Then she used the momentum from the attack to twirl from its chest and directly slashing into the others shoulder, making it scream. As she raised her blade to go again at its neck, it smacked her, thus opening itself to attack. "S-SWITCH!!" She rolled on the ground and tried to get back up, her hp also falling into the yellow. Only one is left...

JaK charged in again yelling wildy with his blade spinning in his hand like a buzzsaw, a cyan hue engulfing it as he neared. "Razor's EDGE!" He howled as he slashed it at a 90 degree angle down it's front, and then spun around slashing the monster at another 90 degree angle upwards, forming an X across it's chest. However, the Yeti recovered and punched JaK into the ground. "No...not yet." He had to give Bow more of an opening, more..."MORE THAN THIS!" He yelled out as his face struck the ground, but then performed a headstand just before his body went limp. From the new position he transitioned himself into a full windmill spin, slashing repetitively at the monster's lower body until it's hp entered the red.

The final Abomidible yelled out angrily and charged up it's attack before grabbing the boy by the leg and squeezing it, causing JaK to yell out. Then tossed him up and at point blank range smacked JaK with a glowing white club, sending him flying with a one handed baseball swing through the air, almost as if in slow motion. "Aaahhh!!" JaK went soaring and landed in a crater in the snow. He laid out flat, the beta-player's health well into the red now as his eyes barely twinkled open.

Bow watched in awe as the boy she now looked up to as one of the best players in the game carved a perfect X into the yeti's chest, the health bar sinking down into the yellow, almost red. She smiled and was stanced, ready to go back for more, when he said not yet. It made her pause and bite her lip as she saw him do a windmill slashing tornado, but smiled as she saw it's hp decreasing even further. You got this JaK... She didn't want to draw attention to herself, scared it may cause him to get unfocused.

Then he screamed as he was picked up and Bow's face drained of color. It was all she could do to hold back the scream herself, and then he was hit by the club. Bow grew mad with fury. The yeti wasn't facing her way in the slightest. All of its energy was aimed at JaK as it took a step towards him. Now was her chance though. She ran full speed at the monster, not saying a word, and slashed it once diagonally down the back and then, quicker than the speed of sound, she pierced it over and over until it exploded into oblivion. She didn't even give it a chance to turn around. Now that it was gone, she ran to JaK, crying. "O-oh god... Umm... Wait! Yes!" Thank goodness she had found this in a shop and splurged. She accessed her inventory and got out her health crystal, pointing it to JaK, she healed him back to 100%. Then she sat down beside him, exhausted, and still close to tears. "W-well... We did it... Only thanks to you... You amazingly idiotic hero..." *giggle*

JaK sat up after Bow healed him, his vision was going blurry moments earlier and it seemed like his head was in a fishbowl. The world was different when you were close to death in this game, sounds were muffled and your health meter became much more prominent. Also, figures seemed like shadows looming in your field of vision. However, as JaK healed and he saw Bow's shining face he instantly sat up and hugged her. He held the hug for a full half-minute and then pulled away seemingly relieved. "I'm sorry, I was just afraid I hadn't done enough and it might've...It doesn't matter. You took care of it, but we've got much bigger problems than just those three." JaK had just showed Bow a side of him she had yet to see, but then momentarily sunk back into his typical demeanor as he explained what he had found out when he left her to scout ahead.

"...Yes, a moving boss. This level's boss; the Yeti King moves, no dungeon necessary and it looks to have staged the attack on the town. There's good news though. Most players that are still alive seemed to have retreated into the most fortified structure in the city and took all the shop vendors items with them. So for now, their holding off the siege of what we just wen't through with tons of weapons and health crystals, but when they run out..." JaK paused knowing he need not explain more. "Another thing, the boss is wearing what were looking for." JaK says with a smirk, basically citing via expression that he's going to defeat this boss, no matter what it takes and finish their quest.
