"I'm in...provisionally. I've got some conditions. One, if you need me for something it better be big, because for me this city is job one. Two, if you 're going on a mission and I say I'm busy, I'm busy. Three, Gotham's off limits, unless I ask for your help."

Terrence McGinnis

Terry McGinnis Batman-beyond-vs-spider-man-2099-5724

===IDENTITY===

Full Name: Terrence McGinnis
Nickname(s): Terry
Codename: Beyond
Alias(es): Batman
Age: 19
Classification: Human
Affiliation: Good

===PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION===

Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 167 lbs
Other Traits: Terry likes wearing a leather jacket over a black shirt, along with jeans. He actually prefers this and has a closet full of shirts and jeans just for this, so he's not actually wearing the same thing over and over again. He also wears a messenger bag when he goes to school, which is often what he keeps his suit in.

===POWERS===

Powers: In addition to the training he received from Bruce, Terry appeared at least to be an able street-fighter. In the first part of the pilot episode, "Rebirth," he participated in his high school's wrestling team, and he fended off several Jokerz alone, displaying uncommon agility and tenacity for a civilian. Under Bruce's tutelage, Terry has honed his body to at least Olympic levels. As expected of Batman, he engages in regular, rigorous training to minimize his reliance on the Batsuit.
Terry has engaged in combat outside of the Batsuit at various instances, at one time going up against the Batsuit itself when it was possessed by a cyberpathic entity. His training has granted him exceptional reflexes, enabling him to evade gunfire and make impressive leaping attempts whether in or out of the Batsuit. In one instance, without the suit's aid, Terry survived a fall from several stories high by bouncing off a pillar that was about to crush him, and landed on his feet. Terry even managed to defeat his suit one time in single combat when it was controlled by an insane computer consciousness, armed only with Wayne's vintage utility belt's equipment.

Terry's style of combat seems to be based on agility and he usually uses aerial leaps and bounds during a fight. He also uses untraditional fighting styles and dirty methods as opposed to the martial arts styles that the original Batman used.

As Batman, Terry emulates Bruce's deep, harsh tone. He does this of his own accord, to separate the entities of Terry and Batman.

Skills: Batman's training, significant reflexes, proficient detective skills

Weaknesses: Without his suit, Terry only has his skills, with no tools or equipment. He's just a regular man.

Equipment: Batsuit- The Batsuit currently worn by Terry was actually almost eighteen years old at the time of the series' inception. However, its technology is so advanced that the Batsuit is still considered state-of-the-art. One of the most notable features of the suit is that it now covers the entire face, a departure from previous costumes (though Batman's mouth is still left exposed, a possible design flaw, especially when faced with opponents like Inque). The cape has been eliminated, being replaced by glider wings under the arms. Thrusters built into the boots allow Batman to fly in the absence of wind. However, for long range flight, he has an aerial version of the Batmobile to use.
The Batsuit conforms to the size and physique of its wearer, as seen by how it was able to fit both Terry and Bruce, who had different physical statures at the time. It is very durable, being able to withstand massive concussive forces (it was able to take blows from Superman), fire, lasers, electric shocks, underwater pressure, wind force, and even radiation in small doses.

The Batsuit grants him the following abilities:
-Enhanced strength by a factor of ten.
-Minimal reduction (or increase) in flexibility.
-Enhanced visual assistance that allows him to see in the dark (visual from the Batsuit can be fed back to the main computer in the Batcave; it can also receive visual from the main computer, allowing for superior tactical planning). -The visor can also serve as digital binoculars and an infrared filter.
-Personal communicator allows Terry to keep in constant contact with Bruce at the Batcave.
-Enhanced ballistic protection.
-Significantly resistant to heat, electricity, water, and vibrations, but only slightly resistant to radiation.
-Built-in rebreather for underwater combat/exploration.
-Dispensable Batarangs with a range of auxiliary functions, such as producing electric shocks. However, there is a limit to the amount of Batarangs the Batsuit can dispense; Batman has run out on at least one occasion. Also, the Batsuit has discs that can be fired from the tops of the hands.
-Electrical discharges throughout the suit that can be activated by pushing the button on the belt.
-Grappling guns built into the forearms.
-Flashbang grenades.
-Smoke pellets.
-Flexicuffs.
-Launchable tracers.
-A retractable PIN or password decipherer in the form of a key on the right index finger.
-Retractable wings under the arms to glide on.
-Rocket boots enabling limited flight.
-Electromagnetic pads in the soles of the boots for adhesion to certain surfaces.
-Sensitive touch microphone on index and middle fingers that permits eavesdropping through solid surfaces.
-Drug identifier, utilized by dipping fingers into the substance.
-Built-in cloaking device that enables almost complete camouflage (this function possibly consumes a good deal of the Batsuit's power, as Batman minimizes its usage). It allows camouflage extending into the visible light and infrared frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum. A countermeasure used by Commissioner Barbara Gordon to this in one incident where she was hunting Batman down was through tracking him using an ultraviolet light to illuminate him. The origin of the cloaking device could be based on the failed light refractive polymer developed in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "See No Evil." The reason the invisibility plastic failed in the B:TAS episode was that sending electrical current through the material caused it to become toxic, affecting the mind as well as the body. Regardless, the original Batman may have saved samples of the plastic and/or the research notes and resolved the toxicity issues, incorporating them into the Beyond Batsuit.
-Retractable claws which can be used to slice, clip, or facilitate climbing.
-Can uplink with the Batmobile for remote piloting.
-A remote kill function that can externally deactivate the suit from the Batcave.
-The belt buckle also serves as a buzz saw to get out of a room quickly or to cut through denser material.

===PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE===

Personality: Terry is very different from Bruce, in that he makes quips and jokes about his enemies during the fight, and will even laugh in the midst of it, much differently from Bruce. He's an easygoing guy in social life, has lots of friends, and likes sticking up for the little guy. He's generally accepted as a delinquent, for things he's done in the past, because he often falls asleep in class due to his nights as Batman.

Strengths: He's hard headed and determined, and his past makes him want to make up for it by helping everyone he can as Batman.

Interests/Habits: His girlfriend Dana Tan, motorcycles, leather jackets

===PERSONAL BACKGROUND===

Family Members: Mary McGinnis (Mother), Warren McGinnis (Pseudo father), Matt McGinnis (Brother), Bruce Wayne (Genetic father)
Place of Origin: Gotham City
Current City: Jump City
History: Terry was born in Gotham City on August 18, 2023 to Warren and Mary McGinnis. In his early teens he belonged to a street gang lead by Charles "Big Time" Bigelow, and once served a three month stint in juvenile hall.
Years later, while attempting to escape from The Jokers he found himself at the gate of Bruce Wayne. Despite his old age Bruce managed to help Terry fight off his attackers, before he colapsed to the ground, and McGinnis then carried Mr. Wayne back to his mansion so he could take his medication. Shortly after taking his medicine Bruce Wayne fell asleep and Terry decided to snoop around. He noticed a bat stuck in an old grandfather clock. When he tried to free the animal he stumbled upon the entrance to the Batcave.

Bruce was furious with Terry when found him snooping around the Batcave, and kicked him out. When Terry finally returns home he discovers that his father has been murdered and that the police think The Jokers are responisble. He investigates on his own and discovers that Derek Powers is actually the one responsible. He rushes back to Wayne's mansion and asks his assistance in bringing Powers to justice, but Bruce reminds young McGinnis that he has given up the cape and cowl. For good.

Not one to give up Terry then decides to take matters into his own hands and sneaks into Wayne Manor to steal the Bat suit for himself. When Bruce discovers that the suit is missing he shuts it down, with Terry inside, in the middle of a battle. Terry pleads with Bruce to help him confront Powers because he thinks he can prove who was really behind the death of his father. Bruce reluctantly releases control of the suit to Terry.

Convinced that there is still a need for a Batman, Bruce hires Terry as his "personal assistant" and begins secretly training him for his new role as Batman. In addition, Bruce assists Terry in the field primarily by keeping in continual contact with the boy at the Batcave.

After Powers' criminal identity is revealed to the public and he finally brings retribution to his father's killers, Terry decides to continue his role as Batman to make up for his past sins, in hope that his heroic role is his chance at redemption. As a student, he aspires of being a doctor, but his past always comes into his mind. Even though Bruce decides to fight crime after his parents were murdered, Terry has a different reason to continue; before Warren was murdered, Terry always felt guilty about letting his family and friends down because of his past as a juvenile delinquent. Because of this, he always tries to find a way to make up for what he's done – trying his best at school, joining athletic teams, and helping others, in the hope that someday people will see him differently. Terry originally assumed the role of Batman for his father, but eventually sees it as a chance to help people and to look like a worthwhile human being again, in his own eyes if in no one else's.

The Justice League Unlimited episode "Epilogue" reveals that Terry is Bruce's biological son due to Amanda Waller's "Batman Beyond" project. The project caused Terry's father to have his reproductive DNA overwritten and made Bruce's reproductive DNA dominant when Warren McGinnis took a fake flu shot. This makes Bruce the biological father of both Terry and his brother Matt, even if Warren McGinnis raised them.

Sample RP

It was a clear, cloudless night in Neo-Gotham, one of the best weather conditions Terry liked for going out and stopping a casual Joker or two. The moon shone brightly over Neo-Gotham that way, and made it much harder for the scum of the city to hide in the shadows. As Terry flew through streets with the Batmobile, Bruce came in on the line.

Picking up anything?

Terry pressed a button on the Batmobile, bringing up infrared view for the screen. Looking at it intently, Terry shook his head.

Nope. Nothing. I guess we'll just have to- wait, I see something.

Suddenly, a large mass of heat signatures started showing up in the middle of the city. It wasn't the middle of the day, and there were no celebrations scheduled, so Terry decided to fly towards it and look into it.

McGinnis.

Yeah, yeah, I see something in the city. It looks like a very large group of people.

And this just came out of nowhere?

That's why I'm going. It's weird, though. It's almost like a small arm-

Terry stopped speaking, awestruck as he saw an explosion. It was an army. Though Terry didn't know the cause, what had actually happened was that a boomtube had awoken in the middle of Neo-Gotham, letting soldiers out by fives. The soldiers were armed to the teeth, and kept coming out.

McGinnis? McGinnis, what do you see?

It's...some kind of portal. It's bright and fiery, looks like a circle...and troops are pouring out of it!

Terry could almost hear Bruce's frown over the line.

Darkseid. I should've known.

Terry jumped out of the Batmobile, dropping down to the streets below, extending his wings and gliding. A soldier turned around just in time to see Terry's fist connect with his face, Terry landing. The soldiers turned their attention to him, and Terry had to weave in and out of gunfire, as he roundhouse kicked another one. As more soldiers kept pouring out, Terry resorted to using his batarangs, throwing an electrically charged one at a group and taking them all out with the current passing between them.

Immediately afterwards, he flew a flashbang and a few bombs out, dispatching multiple groups before five armed-to-the-teeth women stepped out, with odd weapons. Shortly after them, a hulking figure with gray skin and blood red eyes stepped out.

Terry McGinnis 1310L

As Terry stared, the figure grinned.

Ah, Batman- no, not the Batman. No matter. I have come to take your planet once more!

Terry, get out of there! You need the Exosuit!

Meet my Furies, Darkseid said, gesturing to the women in front of him. It seemed that was their cue to attack. They all lunged at Terry at once, the first with a metal whip. Terry dodge rolled, and then grabbed the whip, yanking on it to pull the woman towards him, stomp kicking her in the stomach and launching her a few feet away. The second and third to approach him came with a sword and hatchet, respectively. The woman with the sword lunged at him, while the woman with the hatchet circled around.

Terry dodged the lunge with precision, quickly tagging the woman in the nose. She threw a kick at him while the woman with the hatchet behind him slashed strongly down at his back. Terry spun, grabbing the woman's kick while kicking the hatchet away from him out of the woman's hands, and, continuing with the motion, swung the woman into the other one, knocking them both away.

The first woman who originally had the whip got up while two more women with wrist-mounted claws and a spear approached him from all sides. A simple thrust from the spear, which he sidestepped. An X slash downwards to him from the claws. He grabbed both of her wrists, and as the unarmed woman came at him, he dropped back, taking the woman down with him with his weight, and threw her over him, causing her legs to nail the unarmed woman in the face. Meanwhile, her claws kept her anchored.

Terry took advantage of this to kick the woman in the stomach, leaving her breathless, and then whirled to the spear woman as the other two women he downed earlier got up. They came at him with flurries of kicks and punches, Darkseid watching on with amusement. Terry easily parried each of them, and also blocked, before finding an opening. Before he could exploit it, however, the woman with the spear came in with a strong swing, causing him to duck, and then sweep the legs of one of the women, standing up before dropping down with an elbow, incapacitating her.

The woman who originally had the whip had recovered again, and came in for a four on one. Terry held up pretty good, ducking under blows and returning a few of his own, but one eventually tagged him. The next thing he knew, the shaft of a spear was at his windpipe, the woman trying to crush it. He wrapped his arms around her waist, and then turned the full body tazer on, incapacitating her.

Three left, the woman with the claws lunged for him, but Terry jumped, and landed on her claws, breaking them, before picking her up, turning, and, again, tossing her into one of the other women head to head. The last one didn't endure long before he kicked her kneecap and delivered a haymaker to her head.

Darkseid kept his hands behind his back.

You're going to have to do a lot better than that.

Weak fools, all of them. I, however, am a different story.

His eyes started glowing red. Bruce yelled through the link.

Terry, get out of there! And avoid those blasts at all costs!

Concerned was not a feeling Terry heard Bruce convey often, so he knew that he was meaning what he said. Terry extended his wings, and flew up as Darkseid fired his Omega Beams. Terry weaved and looped and ducked before they erased the side of a building. Before Darkseid could fire another set, the Batmobile came and Terry got into it, flying away.

Darkseid closely following, Terry got into the Batcave. Bruce had the Exosuit and a small circuit board waiting for him.

The only way we can beat him right now is to use this.

What is it?

It's a mother box. One of my many souvenirs. You need to use this to send Darkseid somewhere else.

And how do I do that?

Bruce leveled eyes with him.

Just tell it to.

Terry was about to question him before the foundation rumbled. With no time to lose, Terry got into the Batmobile and flew out, holding the mother box. He found Darkseid in the Wayne Manor, before opening the hull. Terry held up the mother box before speaking.

Send him to the farthest place possible, where he can never reach this planet again!

However, Darkseid was taking no chances, and blasted the box and Terry with his Omega Beams just as they were all engulfed in a purplish glow. Terry blacked out. When he woke up, he found himself in the Batmobile, only in a sunnier place. He opened the hull and looked, seeing a large body of water. It was a bay. Something was drawing his attention to it. It was a large building, structured in the form of a "T"...

Oh no.

I don't mean to be a bother; it's just it's been a week with no mention of it. So I thought I'd bump it up. Sorry if it's annoying.

Sorry about the delay.

All character applications go in "Introduce your Character."

I've looked at the equipment, and it all seems to check out. You really do know this character.

There are two things that are holding this back right now.

1. You already have 3 characters. That's the limit, so you'll have to lose one.

2. Batman Beyond takes place decades after the events of either Justice League or Teen Titans. As far as the timeline of this site is concerned, Terry hasn't been born yet and Bruce Wayne is still running around as Batman. So he can't fit in as a canon character from this time. Are you planning on having him get sent back in time to when the Teen Titans were around? If so, that will need to be explained in your profile.

I was planning to swap out characters, but I'd like him approved first.

As for the time thing, you guessed right, I plan on having him sent back. I suppose I could put that in the little rp thing, since I never do anyways...I'll let you know when I'm done with it.

And sorry about the little topic mixup.

Okay, so Darkseid sends him back in time with his Omega beams. Looks like someone did their research.

As long as you drop a character before you RP with him, Terry McGinnis is...
