| Full Name: David ''Seraph'' Pure
Codename: Monk

Age: 17
Classification: Human

Eye Color: Blue
Height: 6'7''

Powers |
--Sleeping Seal-- David's first and most used ability is that of a blessed sleep. Without any trouble, David can relax his mind and body and sink into a motionless peaceful sleep, albeit he is in a sitting position or laying down. Whilst one would not expect this as a power, this self-controlled sleep has another use: When David sleeps, his eyes are closed and the world does not seem to do harm. Unknown to him how, this comes to pass.
When David sleeps, those close by cannot harm or be harmed by any means. Projectiles such as arrows fall straight to the floor, magical abilities turn to nothingness as they are nullified, and any forcefull attack is slowed down. Per example, were one to hit someone else, their fists would slow down until it stops completely one inch away from the one they would try to hit.
The affected area feels like spiritual enriched land, creating a relaxing atmoshphere of divinity. Demonic being will feel as if stabbed by a thousand burning swords as they are smitten from the sacred sleep.
The Sleeping Seal ability can be ended simply by waking David up. Whilst shouting will hardly have an effect, slowly rocking him, or for that matter, tactful talking, just might. Furthermore, those who are skilled in mind-magic may enter his mind and experience the dream from his side. In his mind, David lives in a paradise garden of sorts, endless green hills and landscapes covered with ivory architectural wonders, and the feeling or angels nearby.
Joining him in this dream will probably instill the doubt to stay within any reasonable man's mind, but one could also reason with him to wake up. Applying force in this dream however, will have the ivory architectured angels come to live, and cast you out of his mind's paradise. |
--Blessing of the Divine-- | David has been bestowed with the blessed insights and the pure holy strength of the Divine. His ever enduring faith has been rewarded with divine powers that surpass human abilities. A few of the following abilities have been observed: |
Healing Hands | David's hands glow in a bright white light and wounds close up as his hands pass over them. Cannot heal overly complex wounds and is ill suited in the midst of combat. The receiver feels a warm glow as his wounds close up, and experience a slightly increased healing factor for a short duration afterwards. | Demonsbane | Light glows from David's chest and eyes as he levitates a little above the ground, shining upon all it can reach in a close proximity. When demonic entities are hit by this light, they suffer unexplainable excruciating pain. This pain cannot be endured by the wicked and they are forced to withdraw from the light. | Smite | A projectile of light flying from his palm, smiting hurts only to those that do harm. When used on a good soul, it does nothing. The more evil one's soul is (those playing host to a demon count double) the more one suffers excruciating burning pains. David is reluctant to use this gift, as he believes might does not make right. |
Legends tell David once showed the wings of the Archangel, wings of pure white light that shined as fierce as a thousand suns. What he would do with these wings however, is unknown to all. If David unsheathed his wings of pure light, one could reason he would fly with them and much more, but there is an apparent reason why he would not.. Enlightenment | David has been a firm believer and faithful servant of the Divine his entire life, believing that the one truth is all that matters. Due to his unrelenting service and allegiance, his path has lead him to enlightenment, living a unshakeable tranquil and serene life amidst all the others. He regards his truth and rituals as an unshakeable truth and will not move away from them, not even when he is persuaded by powers or stronger minds. As such, he cannot be persuaded to do things he would otherwise regard as a sin. |
Weaknesses Human physique | For all he can do to help his fellow man and keep himself in good health, David Pure is still mortal. He possessed no increased strength, speed or reflexes. | Unarmored | Monastery robes suffice to David, or he dresses in his own ornate cloth armor. This armor however, provides hardly any protection, only basic protection that all notmal clothing would give. | Pacifist Nature | Whilst David has a staff, he uses it to make long walks with. Although he can use it to thwart those who would harm him, David will not lash out against any creature without good reason. David understands that sometimes, one has to fight, but will hold off until that moment is very clearly upon them. |
Psychological Profile | The Book, good company, philosophical debate, thought out debating, reading, sunlight, helping others, working at a monastery, learning new things, reading scrolls of times past. | | Evil, All Things Demonic, fighting, violence, all sins but mostly the major ones, blunt minds. | Habits/Quirks | Tends to quote from The Book quite often. Will try to show the Faith to those who could yet be saved. Has a tendency to overanalyse and postpone decisions until they absolutely need to be made |
Equipment The Shepherd's Staff | A sturdy wooden staff used to support one in long walks, David has always had a staff, a symbol of his travels and ordeals. Whilst he could use this for combat, he prefers not to. | Flask of Holy Water | David carries a flask of holy water with him at all times. This water, purified and blessed countless times over, has the ability to cure any soul who drinks it. However, if it is imbued by someone who has done great evil, the water will taste like sulphur and burn. To any good person within reason, it shall completel heal him or her, but at a price.
As long as the water is properly within one's digestive system (around 24 hours depending on the creature) he or she cannot do any harm upon others, but can still be harmed. David does not easily spread this water, for he has seen those that crave for it with unjust reasons. |
Personal Background Family: Abandoned child at the monastery, parents unknown. Place of Origin: Monastery, Jump City Current City: Jump City David has lived with a monastery his entire life. It was a monastery close to Jump City. Research and deductive reasoning were key virtues in his upbringing. The other monks found him one day, abandoned by his mother and father. However, the monks sensed something special in the boy. Due to not knowing much abut his parent and other biblical references, they named him David. David, the small man that faced Goliath, but also that same David, King of Judah. Following the purity that is their belief, they believed Pure would suffice as a last name. David grew up as a kind young man, and showed sharp intellect. He would not harm his fellow man, but would stand his ground were he think his aid was needed in defending certain matters. He prayed and did all good according to the rules of the Divine. One faithful night, David was visited in a dream. Much like how shepherd's had seen angels chant songs, he bathed in the light of one well known archangel; Raphael. The Archangel of Healing shone his light unto David, for that it may never falter nor dim whilst his faith is unswayable. When David woke up, he had first tried to rationalize his dream...were it not for his room to be filled with light in the midst of the dark night. David felt warm, illuminated, and blessed. His illumination had passed; all due to his unrelenting faith even in times of need. He was a boy of nearly 14, but he has received a miracle gift unlike any other. It took a while for David to understand. Accidentally, he learned how to mend wounds after he witnessed a brother monk fall down a set of stairs. The same when a few corrupted sould visited the monastery with ill intent. David would not move, nor waver, and when he tried to beckon them to leave, his hands shot bolts of pure light, smiting the wicked. His most interesting ability was the one that was explored when he slept. The monks had noticed how all seemed extra peacful during David's slumbering hours, and soon explored what had changed. Thanks to their fanatic and friendly research, David found out how he had become a Sleeping Seal. The monastery makes regulary trips to Jump City for food, other supplies and to support various activities around the city. David is on the forefront of most of these operations, showing how faith could help one, and how his faith could help many others. Due to his nature of helping people and lending aid, David has a personal residence in the City, and due to his proficion, he often stays in the City, returning to the monastery every once in a while or at times of dire need. As such was written in the Scroll of David ''Seraph'' Pure, and his story has yet to continue. | |
